Shin Mazinger Z Impact (Shin Mazinger Shōgeki! Z-Hen) is an alternate retelling of Go Nagai’s classic 1970s super robot story Mazinger Z. Despite this, the production staff took great care to emphasize that their work is a separate work from Mazinger Z and not a remake per se. The television series ran in Japan in 2009 with director Yasuhiro Imagawa (Giant Robo, G-Gundam).
