(Nil and Dagon will get a kick out of this thread.)

Once my return hits, I plan on ordering a game that for the last several days has been recommended to me by Dagon and Nil. S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Shadow of Chernobyl. From word of them and others it’s cruel, it’s relentless, it’s challenging as hell…but it’s fun and very enjoyable.

I being a fan of more challenging games and the like will purchase this game, and post updates on my playthrough as I go along. There’s a chance that if my computer wills it a let’s play series will be done of my blind playthrough experience aptly titled STALKER Shadow in Chernobyl.

Any tips that anyone may have, feel free to post them here, or share your experiences in this hectic joyride of a game. ^-^

Keep Vodka next to you the whole time.

Take a shot for every death.

I claim no responsibility for self harm. (I do, however, claim full responsibility for this thread title)

      EDIT:

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Complete is the mod that Dagon and I suggested to you for your first run but I am aware that your system may struggle to run some of the more advanced features. While these can be turned down I have to wonder if it may be enough. For that reason i’m going to suggest the following alternataive: The Zone Reclamation Project.

Instead of adding new graphical tricks, models, textures, etc on top of quality of life improvements ZRP is strictly a bugfix pack. You’ll still encounter crashes and troublesome areas but the current version of ZRP is even more stable than Complete. You’ll miss out on some things like the better repair system, AI and tactics improvements and stuff like the Sleeping Bag but it’s the closest to Vanilla S.T.A.L.K.E.R. you’re going to get without most of the bullshit you’d run into unpatched. And without the graphical enhancements it may run a lot better on your system. Give Complete a shot, tweak it some, but know that you’ve got some options.

That said, either way you’re in for a treat. There’s a reason why two of the three are some of the most played on my steam games list – bearing in mind that these are single player only first person shooters.

So, I got to the zone where you have to rescue a soldier from the Military and then the helicopters come and you have a choice to fight or run. I, being the idiot I was, decided to stay since I had the mindset “That’s loot for the pickings.” Figuring I could snatch a few guns and some ammo and whatnot.

I was reamed. That is all.
