    Was originally gonna just make this a Love Live Thread but Uki shouted out there are lots of idol animes. Thanks Uki ^_^

    From animes all about aspiring/ already are idols non-idol focused animes but have characters who are themselves idols. This thread is to express love for your favorite idol show, favorite group/character(s) from pictures, fanfics, favorite song(s), what you wish to show your favs some love!

      Different people have different taste. ^_^; not very familiar with older idol animes to be honest. I personally like newer idol animes (I’m kinda new at watching them myself) but like Uki said the newer ones have nice songs and decent stories to keep ya interested.

      Next year when I got the time I may give more attention to newer ones. So far it’s either so so or just already heard somewhere already…different lyrics but same rhythm or melody.

      Even though, my viewing record is at best 25% compared to others of my fan generation (90’s)

      it’s enough to say

      just selecting the best or favorites it will be hard to keep the number below 1000 pieces

      easing the criteria a bit and it takes a few years to check (no repeats, no copy cats but includes instrument only/karaoke versions.)

      I’m not fixed on one thing or I can’t ignore the rest.

      Pointing to shows is all I can do on the spot.

      If ya don’t wanna be converted by us don’t listen to us. woooo1

      When I came up with the list I made I should have thought of Sarah the Kaliedo Stage’s Singing

      Star from Kalideo Star.

      Also they might not be singing idols but The Three Water Fairies from Aria:The Animation:

      Alicia,Athena and Akira are treated as such.( I forget which Akira it is.)

      she actually is and Idol (and now C’est le Vie will be stuck in anyone’s head who has ever

      seen at least the first 20 episodes of the live action series for the rest of the Week! 😆 😆 ) even though it’s live action and not anime?

      And here it is! My favorite Idol anime and one of my favorites in general…..

      Yes it’s Love Live School Idol Project!

      Now i know its not everyones cup of tea and its overly hyped as the best anime ever and i know that turns a lot of people off from it. I mean…its simple and this case keeping it simple makes it good. Yes there are no extremely tragic backstories, no complicated plot lines or mind-f**k plot twist or images that most of us like or seek in anime but that doesn’t mean there is no character development or issues that they don’t have to overcome. Since its also a slice of life show there are things we can definitely relate to simple or complicated or somewhere in between and while things do go WAY TO PREFECTLY for them somehow most of the time its the fact that the characters are trying so hard at there goals and while it might get boring for most i still find it charming especially these girls that are so DIFFERENT from each other find there way towards one another and strive for the same goal.

      Phew….still with me? Lol

      I have other personal reasons i love this show but i’ll spare ya the details :p but i think there is SOMETHING about it either a character (s) you relate(fall for) to, the songs/music (they have different styles and mini idol groups so there is plenty to choose from) , or just something to relax to ane make you feel good about yourself. Give it a try! You might just like it. kiyonesmile1

      There’s nothing wrong with a run of a mill story line or character designs. It’s just you gotta draw the line when actually comparing within a large pool. Therefore, there have to be something specific to it to cut it. For your own evaluation come back in five years and see for yourself if you are a harsher critique or not. *shrugs*

      Dirty Pair, they appear as a band in the manga; and Kei was an idol in one episode but we never see both of them in the anime.

      I think I might be a bit prejudiced in favor of Madoka from KOR simply because the first anime

      forum I ever joined after I got into anime was The Anime Cafe back in the day and they were

      huge KOR fans to the extent that Madoka was the websites mascot. Even though the forum has been down for awhile now you can still go there to see what I mean.

      Ok…that said Mitsuki/Full Moon needs a bit more love here. soawesome1

      after what the fourth or fifth DVD? someone ought to really think of re-releasing it.

      is giving it’s last concerts and giving way to an entirely new group of Idol singers.

      Fans have gone into massive mourning as they vie for tickets.

      Yeah, this is all for the follow-on Wake Up, Girls!, too.

      Besides, they don’t really do idol group stuff for real. Even though it’s sad, this gives the opportunity for raising groups over and over with more or less freshness. I suppose it is bad for the individual idol’s career.

      That might explain why in the movie Perfect Blue the heroine decided to leave the Idol group she was part of to try her hand at acting just before they reach the big time. She probably figured her

      career wouldn’t go any further as a Idol.

      Yep, idol life in Japan or Korea is way harder than say the EU or in the States. It’s a huge risk to go by yourself. Even if not, as can be seen by AKB48’s example (generally true in any other area, too):

      there’s a huge gab between No.3 and No.4

      The top 5 are usually preferred while No.6 & 7 are just replacement, the rest hardly counts.

      Ono Erena, from Majisuka Gakuen2, for example left on her own. People were asking what happened. I dunno but she appears to have done the OP for Legal High and got some screen time. She gave up showbiz for good just a few months ago.

      Oshima Yuko, the miss perfect student council president turned idol, had lots of fun (doing pranks). Now that she graduated from the group all I know is she did some movies. I haven’t see any yet and I kind of have doubts.

      Well, I’m not that into idol so I can’t really draw good examples.

      Lifetime for an idol isn’t long regardless. Its a stepping stone for becoming an actress. I think the direct path is easier, though.

      Yeah the movie was the seal on deal that U’s (pronounced Muses) is breaking up. The next project is Love Live Sunshine

      ( I’m surprised the new group doesn’t have Honoka’s or Eli’s younger sisters because I figured they would be the next group to break out)

      Anyway… Aquors is the new group. They have a couple of songs so far and they are pretty good. I’m not sure how I feel about this group quite yet I’m sure there while be a anime eventually so time will tell. SO far its just PV’s of there songs.

      I really dig this song. if/when a anime for this group comes out i hope this would be the opening its pretty catchy.

      Song now available on the Love Live mobile game ans Aqours cards will be available on the game soon too. mmhmm1 i still hope for new U’s songs and cards though. At least for the mobile game. I hope it doesn’t become ALL about Aqours eventually though I’m warming up to them little by little.

      So I’m not sure if this is super legit but i saw on this tumblr page http://loveliive.tumblr.com (WATCH TRAILER AND READ ARTICLE HERE)and apparently on a channel called Mnet America (never heard of it) there is going to be a Love Live dub. Now i dunno if the songs are going to be translated (i kinda hope not) and im not sure who the cast is (if this is the real deal) and if this is actually the trailer and actual cast i have to say so far only Nico good (no offense) i’ll post more info when i see it. kiyonesmile1

      Yeah the more i listen to it the less i hate it. Just gotta get used to it. Like you said Uki its not terrible, its passable. I personally find Kotori’s voice a improvement and Eli is on par. Its the dialog and lame puns that I’m finding hard to accept. Between Awesomesauce and Boobshell it just makes me…well… 🙄 lol

      As far as american english goes there isn’t really a problem with dubs if you’ve never listen to the original. Once you get used to (the minds of) the original there’s generally a feeling of missing out the subtle expression typical for asian languages. Although rare there are times or parts when some dubs are better. I usually listen to the originals with the exception of Hindi. Hindi is probably the only language I’m certain I could never learn. Evolving multi-mixed languages are a pain.

      I found a list over at Honey’s Anime website of the Top Ten Seiyuus who are actually really good singers. Of note:

      1. One of the female Seiyuus/Singers is one of the major voices for the Love Live anime.

      2. Speaking of English skills, I think Saakamoto Maya was listed as #1.It mentioned her fluency with

      the English language as being as awesome as her singing ability. soawesome1

      3. Horie Yui, Hayasabari Megumi and Mizuki Nana were also listed (but they failed to mentioned

      Hayasabari Megumi’s songwriting skills).

      I really have to agree that it is so hard to find so many multi-talented people around. But not only that but Hayasabari Megumi is also a Registered Nurse!

      You know, I am a giant Idolmaster fan. I have the games, I have posters, shirts, jackets and find myself humming a lot of the songs semi frequently to the annoyance of my coworkers. All that being said for some reason I have yet to get into Love Live. I mean I’ve seen the key art, and lots of promo materials and toys just walking around Nakano or Akiba but I never thought to sit down and watch it. It’s so weird to me too that Idolmaster is bigger in Japan but overseas Love Live is just orders more popular. Hopefully with the Love Live phone game as popular as it is overseas they’ll release Cinderella Stage in America eventually. I should just sit down and watch the anime already. I actually bought the first two seasons on blu ray during a rightstuf sale!

      Yes, I am a huge Love Live fan and I’m proud of it! Its a show that has had a positive effect on me and I encourage anyone to watch it ( especially since you have both season already (I’m so jelly right now) because I think anyone can find something to take from it either it be just simpling have a favorite girl or the music or the message or all the above. Another good way to get into it (which is how I got into the series) is through the mobile game Love Live School Idol Festival. (Which is lots of fun)

      I like Idolm@ster too though I have not watched it ( i know that doesn’t make sense but whatever lol) I really wish I could get my hands on the Cinderella Girls game but like you said Robo is not available here yet though its popular. More popular than Love Live even. I would like to know though if you have the game and if you like it and also who your best girl is ( I know there are a lot of girls in the Idolm@ster series) ^^;.

      I know some people won’t watch Love Live because they are used to the format and style of Idolm@ster and vice versa and that sometimes the discussion of the two can cause bad blood and divided people which is sad because they both of them do things differently but are both of them are roughly similar.

      Anyway… blush1 enjoy your time here and feel free to talk about Idolm@ster as much as you want and I hope you get a chance to watch Love Live. (Also a new series out which is a sequel with a whole new cast of girls called Love Live Sunshine which Uki mentioned which is also good (good so far anyway it just came out and follows a similar path as the original) and since Uki beat me to the punch I’m just gonna say I’m glad to see someone else who likes Idol anime. ^^

      You might want to look at Girlish Number. It’s a bit different from the usual in that it’s about idol/voice actors on the less successful track or about the troubles of the business.

      No news of a new season yet. dawohki1 but I’m sure one is going to happen at some point. Right now is just single releases and in-game things going on.
