For the last while, I had been contemplating getting another console. I do enjoy my Xbox 360, and my original Xbox still, but I wanted to catch the next gen action. I was debating between the PS4 and Xbox One and then I looked into it and there’s a system that has caught my attention The Wii U.
I really wonder what anyone thinks about it or if anyone would get one. It seems a bit underrated as far as gaming capacity goes. Yes, the controller is a bit odd to get used to, but it seems to play like a Nintendo D.S. hooked to a big screen.
Not to mention the awesome releases it has; like Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate. And several classic Nintendo games on its marketplace.
If anyone has any comments of whether or not I should get one, feel free to post! I still am in this next gen debate and any feedback is accounted for.

I personally really enjoy my Wii U but i’m an old Nintendo gamer. The console is lacking somewhat in terms of original games and the controller can take some getting used to, but not much. It does have a fairly neat feature of letting you use the Game pad as the remote for your TV. You can also use the controller to play certain games and then use the TV for watching TV. Another plus is that it does play Wii games and you can keep using your old Wii Remotes and Nunchucks.
There are plenty of really good NES and SNES games on there as well.

The Basic Set has 8GB of memory and the Deluxe set has 32GB. If you have the Deluxe set and don’t download a lot of classic games etc. and buy disc based games you’re probably good, at least for a little while. If you get the Basic set you will need to buy an external drive.
It does have Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Video for watching TV shows and movies.
Even though it is next gen it has more things in common with the 360 and PS3 than it does with the Xbox One and PS4.
Unless you’re a big Nintendo guy I would probably recommend the Xbox One or the PS4 instead.
The biggest game i’m looking forward to right now is the new Super Smash Bros. mainly because this guy is in it.

I’ve moved away from consoles and switched to PC almost entirely over the years, my 360 being relegated to Rock Band duty on the odd occasion. It feels weird to feel no interest in any of the current gen boxes now that they’re all out and especially so since I can’t get myself excited enough about the Wii U. I grew up during the great Nintendo/Sega feud and I’ve got their games embedded deep within my internal programming but for some reason it’s just not enough to really move me on the system. I think it’s mostly the fact that right now it doesn’t have many of the franchises I want to see represented released on it yet. I want more Star Fox, F-Zero, a new original Zelda and Metroid that isn’t like Other M. Smash Bros is the only currently known indev Nintendo game I really want on it and that’s far enough away where I don’t see need to jump onto the ecosystem just yet. Despite its ancient hardware by today’s standards it’s still a capable system, it just needs more of the originals that I care about. I know a few Wii U owners who are pretty happy with their purchase of the system as either their primary or secondary gaming machine though so it’s really a person-to-person sort of thing.
I’m still feeling a little burned on being an early 3DS adopter as well, things were looking pretty dire there for a while and now it’s thriving with a lot of unique titles and third party support. Hopefully they can reverse fortunes again, but until then I don’t think I can suggest picking one up.

Unless you want a Zelda game that plays like Dynasty Warriors, you shall keep on wanting.

I am indeed a Nintendo fan, although after acquiring the original X-box I nearly gave up on playing my old N-64 and Gamecube completely. Save for Metroid: Prime and Super Mario 64 always pulling through and getting my attention at the oddest of times. Having older Legend of Zelda games is a win for me, also. The prime thing I noticed that at last I would be able to play easily and in a much more fun environment is the release of Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate. I’ve always been a huge fan of the Monster Hunter/Big creature battle system and game and since it has an MMO-ish vibe to it still, I call it a sell should I still decide to get a Wii U.
Some releases from the other consoles have piqued my interest of course, but still. The struggle carries on.

Nintendo reveals GameCube controller adapter for Smash Bros. Wii U Quote:An officially licensed adapter will allow Super Smash Bros. Melee veterans to play the upcoming Wii U version of Super Smash Bros. with GameCube controllers, Nintendo announced today.
The peripheral allows players to connect up to four GameCube controllers to the Wii U via a USB dongle. Nintendo has not announced whether WaveBird wireless controllers are supported, or if GameCube controller support is planned for other Wii U games.
Smash Bros. brawlers have plenty of input options to choose from, including Nintendo’s own Wii U Pro Controller, Wii Classic Controllers, and PDP’s upcoming Wired Fight Pad. The Wii U version of Super Smash Bros. will launch this winter.
Now I can keep playing with the GameCube controller just like I did with Brawl

If I do get a Wii U like I planned, I definitely will be getting one of these controllers. Gotta go back to my Gamecube days. "For the curse of life is the curse of want. And so, you peer... Into the fog, in hope of answers." -

I love those facial expressions! iloveit1 They managed to perfectly recreate in-game the faces every player makes when they score a sweet hit or takedown! -

Lots of new Hyrule Warriors screens and a little bit of new info. Seems Chrom isn’t actually playable. He’s just part of Robin’s Final Smash. Relevant images:
