Anime Challenge~

First anime for me, that I can recall, was the Americanized (or should we call it “Harmony Gold-ed”?) rendition of Samurai Pizza Cats.

Due to the poor availability of localization staff and general business things, Saban ended up writing an entirely new script for the show SPC was based off of. The version we got was much more comedic than the original. Still, I got a kick out of it as a youngster and it is, as far as I can remember, the first piece of Japanese animation I ever watched.

The first anime I ever watched was definitely Pokemon, probably followed closely by Digimon. However, at the time I didn’t know what anime was and didn’t identify them as such. So, I’m gonna cheat a little and say that the first anime I watched that I actually acknowledged as anime was Gundam… something. I think.

We had just moved and were staying overnight in a motel or something. It was after midnight, but my parents told me to watch TV while they unloaded the car. I flick to Cartoon Network and what do I see? GIANT ROBOTS. I barely remember it, and I don’t think I got to see the whole episode, but that was my first, well, “real” exposure to not only the world of Japanese animation (or at least a different side of it) but Toonami as well. Thanks, Midnight Run.

I used to want to say it was G Gundam that I saw that night, but that premiered the following year and was never part of the Midnight Run. Considering the time-frame it must have been either Wing or 8th MS Team. I honestly can’t say for sure which. I kinda hope it isn’t 8th though. It’s easily my least favorite Gundam series ever.

I could tell from all the Japanese names in the credits it was different than Saturday morning offerings.

There may have been some Speed Racer reruns when I was even younger, but I don’t recall.

Day 1 – First Anime ever ?

I feel shamed but, i was very young, and I think my first anime experience was the DBZ OVA : Dragon Ball Z: Clash!! The Power of 10 Billion Warriors.

I fully support Ryoko x Tenchi of course, but since Who already said that I think I’ll go with Rei x Shinji instead.

Yeah, yeah, she’s technically a… …clone of his mom… …which I admit weirded me out the first time I watched the show. But over the years I’ve grown to just… not care about that. I could go in-depth about why I think Rei and Shinji are a good match, but in the end, it mostly comes down just one, simple reason why I still ship them:

I like Rei more than I like Asuka.

That’s mainly it. I don’t dislike Asuka. She’s a great character, and I would still rank her pretty high on my list of my all-time favorite anime characters, just… not as high as Rei.

Never really thought about that, and of course Tenchi x Ryoko is the first that pop into my mind !

But i’m gonna say : Eren x Mikasa !

They may love each other as brother and sister but Mikasa cares about Eren as much as Ryoko about Tenchi. If something happens between those two in the future, it will be pretty awesome.

The upbeat jazzy track fits the 1930s American bootlegger/gangster setting of the anime, the synchronization is eye-grabbing and fluent, while music and visuals are both very spry and allegro. The instrumentation makes it feel classy, even though it’s like nothing you’ve ever seen before; very avant-garde.

And it’s functional! Baccano! more so than many other works has a huge cast of characters, and the opening manages not only to introduce us to all of the main players in the anime but tell us in a matter of seconds a little bit about their personalities.

To sum up, the intro boldly tells you to sit down, strap in, and hang on, ‘cuz you’re about to meet all of these Dapper-Dan’s and Cagney caricatures and go on a fun ride.

This one actually wasn’t that hard for me. Bebop’s Tank! and Gundam Wing’s Just Communication are both pretty high up on my list of favorite OP’s, but in the end I can always easily narrow it down to one song:

Hard choice ! I too want to say Evangelion’s op, because of dynamism and catchy music but well i’m gonna go ahead and choose a more modern anime :

Attack on Titan, second opening. The ops of the show are both great but there’s something about the chorus of the 2nd one.. something just epic ! And the film quality is great as well.

Day 5 – One of my no-longer-secret shames…it was 2011, if I recall correctly, and I was in my apartment with my roomies and another mutual friend, and part of our college experience was getting back into anime. We’d surf Netflix for its limited selections, and one title we stumbled upon was called Girls Bravo. It’s no more than a comedic love triangle series with heavy fan service, overt innuendos and stupid humor, and to its credit it doesn’t pretend to be anything more. We went with the dub, and thanks in large part to one Kazuhara Fukuyama we ended up splitting our ribs many, many times throughout our run. The experience of simply finding something we’d never heard of and saying “WTH, let’s do it” combined with the series’ own shamelessly shameful humor and our own ongoing happy college days experience made it something I’ll always look back fondly on (even if I’m ashamed to admit it lol).

Day 5 – While I wouldn’t say I’m fully embarrassed by it, I don’t often talk about how much I appreciated the first series of Ai Yori Aoshi back in the day. I honestly don’t know if I’d even still like it today, I haven’t watched it since I got out of school. That’s probably the closest answer I have for today’s question.

I’m not the biggest fan of his character, but our facial features are pretty close down to the sharpness of our noses and long, textured hair. As a bonus, his costume isn’t impossible to pull off. The only really distinct aspect of his outfit is the Bolo Tie, which isn’t really something you see much outside of the southern states.

This one is kinda tough. Not that I’m ashamed of being an anime fan in general, but it’s not exactly something I advertise to others who aren’t fans anyways, so I’m not entirely sure how to gauge whether or not I would be ashamed to admit I liked any given show, since it hasn’t really come up.

I can’t really think of any “so bad it’s good” type shows that might fit the bill, so I guess I’ll go with a guilty pleasure. Probably something fanservice heavy, like Heaven’s Lost Property. The story (which is surprisingly good, btw) and humor are the main reasons I enjoy it, but it’s still not a show I really go around telling many people I enjoyed, unless I know for a fact I won’t get that “you’re a perv” look from anybody.

I guess for a 2nd title I might go with Spaceship Agga Ruter. I watched one episode of that before dropping it. I don’t mind talking about it here, since it’s technically Tenchi-related so no one on the forum really cares, but in a different setting I would never admit to having watched even one episode of a hentai title.

When i was a child my brother had a VHS collection of an old anime. Basic teenage story about a triangle of love, 1 boy and 2 girls.

This anime is really a cliché : Kimagure Orange Road

I am a little shamed about it because i recently download it and i’m watching it entirely. And i love it WANT1

Funny thing, now i watch it in sub (really good) but back in childhood it was dub in french and oh my god they change everything, even names of the character (Example : Pamela, Sabrina, Max…So japan’…)

So yeah because of the teenage-love atmosphere, i am ashamed.

Day 1:…uhm…I don’t know…the one that I really knew was anime would be Silent Mobius

on Anime Unleashed though before that I had seen parts of the first season of Digimon on FOX.

Day 2: Again with Silent Mobius I’m a ToohruxYuki fan.Though I am also a InuyashaxKagome

fan on Inuyasha.

Day 3: I’ll go with anything composed by the great Yoko Kanno.

Day 4: Age wise it would have to be Misato from Neon Genesis Evangelion she’d be cool to hang out with as long as she didn’t get too drunk.Though I would also like to be friends with

Ami/Sailor Mercury as well.

Day 5:Well I think I have overcome the embarrassment of being a Magic Girl fan by now!But when

I started watching shows like Wedding Peach and Sailor Moon I did feel a bit embarrassed that I enjoyed them…but I got over that now.

DAY 6

This one is kinda hard, since I have little to no interest in dressing up in costume on any day other than Halloween. But if I had to, I’d go with Big O’s Roger Smith or Captain Harlock. Eva Unit-01 would be cool too, but quite hard to make I imagine.

DAY 7

This is such an odd question. I guess I’d say… Shirou Emiya. He takes his training pretty seriously and overall just seems like he’d be a pretty fun guy to be work out with.

DAY 8

Crossover? That’s easy. Tenchi x AMG. The clash of the rom-coms!

It’s so perfect. Tenchi and Keiichi can bond over their girl troubles. Skuld and Washu can pick each others brains and build something. Ryoko and Urd can get drunk together. Belldandy and Sasami can collaborate on dinner. Everyone pretty much has a perfect counterpart in the other series. It would be so much fun to see each household play off each other like that. Maybe Kagato x Mara should be my new crack pairing?

This reminds me that I actually brainstormed a Tenchi x AMG fanfic many moons ago with the help of some fellow forum members. I have that page of notes around here somewhere…

Day 8 Crossover: Silent Mobius and Bubblegum Crisis.Have the AMP investigate a

case that brings in the Knights Sabers as first the suspects and then later on when their names are

cleared as co-investigtors.It would be fun to see Lebia and Nene hacking away at the old computers together and Priss fighting alongside Kiddy.

to watch any because I was still in the ‘it’s just for pre-teen girls’ mentality,but after watching is when

I think I really started to get into the whole Magic Girl genre.

Well i have no story to tell, none anime have ever changed me. In fact i didn’t grow up with it, i’ve known anime while i was a kid, but all my adolescence was animeless. Until Shin goku no kiojin !

In my youth i pictured anime just as : Naruto, Bleach… and nothing more, i was like “meh..”

But with AoT I’ve kinda discovered the anime-universe, and it shown me a all new area of entertainment !

Today i keep discovering the anime world, with some classic like Eva, Fullmetal and so on… It’s just amazing.

So yeah, AoT changed my vision of this lovely japanese culture.

rather enjoy.But on the whole I care more for rather or not it’s something that is interesting and that I would enjoy watching,yaoi* or yuri content notwithstanding.

*I also enjoyed Descendants of Darkness when it ran on SYFY’s Animonday block.

I also love the way that they use classical ballet music for Princess Tutu.As for other

anime,I have to say among my favorites would have to be the music for Cowboy Bebop

especially the ED Real Folks Blues of course Tank goes without saying.Other than that

I love the OP for RahXephon and you can’t watch Bubblegum Crisis without noting

the great soundtrack(especially Priss singing).

Not particularly; I don’t hate them or anything, it’s just not really my cup of tea. I can’t even think of any I’ve seen.

Day 12 – Favorite music in an anime

TOUGH! There’s a lot, but I’ll say anything from Fullmetal Alchemist series (original and/or Brotherhood). It’s just what it needs to be at the right time, whether it be grandiose, heartfelt, awe-inducing, spine chilling, or peppy.

Day 13 – Favorite VA/seiyuu

Favorite seiyuu? I’ll say Takehito Koyasu, a.k.a. Dio Brando. I love the dub of the original OVA, but you can’t help but be mortified and awestruck by Koyasu’s rendition of a true monster.

Favorite VA? I don’t know if I can do it! Doug Smith’s Kentaro Oe? Jeff Nimoy’s Nicholas D. Wolfwood? Lenore Zann’s Aisha Clanclan? R. Martin Klein as Lord God Jinnai? So many…well, since her character had such profound impact on me, she gave an objectively amazing performance, and she’s a sweetheart in real life, I’ll go with Petrea Burchard as one Ryoko “The Space Pirate” Hakubi.

Day 14 – Anime character I hate?

I’ve been a Pokemon fan for what feels like eons now, so I feel like I may have had a bit of a crush on Clair and/or Officer Jenny at some point. But I don’t exactly remember…

DAY 10

This… is a really hard question. I love anime and animation in general, but I’m not sure I’ve really been changed as a person by it. Or if I have, maybe I just haven’t noticed. It’s a big part of my life now, but I’ve mostly just viewed it as hobby up until now. So while I don’t know if I can name specific show, being a part of the anime fandom in general has definitely had a positive effect on me, such as helping me find friends at places like Tenchiforum that I can share my interests with. I don’t know many people in real life that are into anime.

DAY 11

Short answer: no. I don’t find that stuff appealing. I can tolerate elements of it or subtext popping up in shows I’m watching or if it’s just played for laughs or something, but I just can’t watch a dedicated yaoi/yuri show that takes itself seriously.

DAY 12

There are a lot of shows that I love the OP/ED of, but if we’re talking full soundtracks in general I’ve gotta go with, surprise, surprise… Evangelion. It’s one of the few anime I actually own a soundtrack CD for.

My 2nd place runner-up would be Fooly Cooly. Gotta love that Pillows music. I really should buy a CD for that sometime.

3rd would be GITS SAC (2nd Gig being another show I own the soundtrack for).

DAY 13

My favorite seiyuu is probably… Joji Nakata. He has such an epic voice. Being mostly a dub guy, I’ve only heard him in a few roles (mostly Type-Moon stuff), but he’s always the highlight of whatever Japanese dub I come across him in. The fact that he had a role in the Japanese version of SWAT Cats also earns him some brownie points from me.

As for English VA’s, Steve Blum, Mary Elizabeth McGlynn, and Crispin Freeman are 3 of my personal favorites. They always bring a smile to my face when I hear them in a show I’m watching.

I don’t like as much as others,but if it comes down to it….while I don’t really hate her so much as

wish at times she would grow a brain…the one that comes to mind right off the bat is: Miaka from

Fushigi Yugi…Ok…so sue me in that I happen to be a Yui fanboy! soawesome1

Still at times Miaka acts like such a little idiot I wish they’d dunk her in a river somewhere for good.

I’ll choose shocking (as in not “epic” in a good or cool sense). A lot of moments from Eva are contenders, but I’m going to go with a scene from Black Lagoon: Roberta’s Blood Trail.

Use discretion because not only are there spoilers, but this one ain’t pretty folks, so consider yourselves warned:

As Roberta is on her murderous trail of carnage and spiraling ever further down the path of psychosis, Garcia Lovelace–a young boy who is the anchor of her sanity and focal point for her protective zeal–obliviously follows her trail of destruction to find his beloved matronly figure (whom he naively sees as being incapable of such atrocities) engaging in animalistic, depraved sexual acts with a guerrilla soldier in order to lower his guard and ultimately kill him in the most brutish, gory manner imaginable. What’s more, as evidenced to us viewers and likely to the discombobulated Garcia by this point (I don’t wish to check again, but if I recall there were already multiple corpses littering the dimly lit room before his arrival), this tactic was not employed out of necessity: Roberta’s physical prowess, mental instability and razor-honed killing skills means she can pretty much wipe out whomever she damn well pleases in an instant, meaning no need for the token femme fatale or feminine wiles…meaning she did it for sheer amusement and sick thrills. Kill a man? Sure, okay…get him hot and heavy and then kill him during the heat of the moment? Now THAT’S hot! (That’s as best as I can imagine what must have been going on in her depraved mind.)

It’s only after the deed is done and Roberta climbs down from the high of her blood lust that she notices that the last person in the world she would ever want to have witnessed such an act, let alone from her, did just that: the child she was avenging and had looked after for so many years saw her dark side. Can it get worse? Yup. Because at the shock of seeing Garcia in the last place one would logically expect him to be, Roberta maddeningly concludes that he’s just a hallucination (she’s been struggling with those up to this point), picks up a gun, and hysterically decides to prove it by shooting him. Stunned by the events he’d just seen, and coupled with being confronted by the woman who had dotingly raised him since infancy, Garcia is too numb to move: to prevent us viewers from being reduced to a complete pile of blithering mush, Garcia is saved at the very last second (by U.S. soldiers if I recall, the chief cause of Roberta’s rage). But for Garcia, as for me and many other viewers, it was a moot point: the damage was done.

wth2 That one’s gonna’ stay with me, as will Black Lagoon as a whole.

Puella Magi Madoka Magica her entire descent into madness before she dies is both shocking and epic in scale.

This one is tough. There are several that I, and most others, love to hate but there are very few anime characters that I truly despise. I’m struggling to think of names.

I guess… Lady Une from Gundam Wing, but only half the time. People who’ve seen the show know what I mean. Whenever her hair was in those buns and she was wearing her glasses, I hated her guts.

As for characters I love to hate. Definitely Izaya Orihara from Durarara and Monokuma from Danganronpa.

DAY 15

Cha-cha-cha-cheating.

Oh man, there are so many scenes I can think of that can fall under each, but the one scene that really stands out in me head as both epic and shocking is Third Impact, the climax of The End of Evangelion. The end of the world has never been so beautiful, yet so unsettling at the same time.

Runner-ups for epic scenes would be the finale’s of both FLCL and Diebuster.

Also, the Shirou vs Archer fight towards the end of Fate UBW. It may not have happened yet in the TV series (so if you don’t want to know the participants of this fight, don’t click the spoiler), but it has been animated already in the old UBW movie. I can’t wait to see that scene in Ufotable-quality animation.

And for a slightly more recent example, the Dollars meet-up in Episode 11 of Durarara. That was so cool. Namie’s reaction was priceless.

As for shocking scenes, The Eclipse from Berserk takes the cake, as do the murder scenes from most arcs of Higurashi: When They Cry.

DAY 16

Aw man, another tough one. I’d probably have to go with… Shinra x Celty as one of my favorite couples.

I’m also partial to Naruto x Hinata.

DAY 17

I can cheat a bit with Fate since there are 3 different routes, each with a different heroine, so technically this is pseudo-canon. I ship Shirou x Sakura so hard. I won’t go into specifics because of spoilers, but I will say that after everything this girl has been through she deserves her happy ending with Shirou.

I wasn’t inspired for the past few ones, so here I go from here.

Day 18

Mostly every ED from Tenchi are great, I often listen to the OVA2’s (Tsuki no tragedy) and TU’s (Up walk the galaxy) ending.

But i’m gonna point out Fullmetal Alchemist once again for its first ending theme ! Really catchy, not a lot of ED have ever marked me. They are mostly calm, and quiet, but this one is rock-ish and all.. Love the begining !

Hmm, hard to say if it’s definitively my favorite ED ever, but I really, really love Negai, AMG Season 1’s first ending.

DAY19

I haven’t seen a lot of dedicated Shojo anime. I like Sailor Moon well enough, so I’ll go with that. A runner-up would probably be the Pretty Sammy OVA’s, if those count.

DAY 20

I’m not a huge fan of tsunderes. I outright hate violent tsunderes, and most of the rest just tend to annoy me with how much they beat around the bush. Maybe they remind me too much of myself…

Anyways, I’d have to declare this a toss-up between Rin Tohsaka from Fate and Hitagi Senjyogahara from Bakemonogatari. They both pull the tsundere thing off well.

Tohska is sort of like the textbook definition of the perfect tsundere (her enduring popularity can attest to that). Her reactions rarely come off as annoying or ovweblown as is the case with so many other tsunderes.

Senjyogahara is… a bit different, but also… not really? It’s hard to describe her properly without directing someone to go watch the Monogatari series and gain an understanding of her for themselves. While she typically skews more towards being hard-edged, she walks many fine lines without actually falling into any given category. She’s a very multifaceted character, moreso than most female anime characters I can think of in recent memory.

She’s definitely not the bumbling, blushing tsundere type. Glaring and threatening bodily harm are more her thing, yet she rarely steps far into yandere territory, and she can be surprisingly cute, friendly and compassionate when she wants to. If anything I just said piqued someones interest, then go watch Bakemonogatari. It’s so hard to accurately describe her character and personality in a meager two paragraphs. This is one of those things you really need to see to fully grasp.

I’m gonna echo Nobu and Snow with Tenchi Muyo as my favorite harem. No surprise there.

As for reverse harems, I have not seen many shows like this, and even fewer that were actually good. The one that stands out to me is Hakuoki. I haven’t seen much of the anime, but I have played the PSP visual novel and it is fantastic. With it’s focus on samurai, supernatural goings-on in old Japan, and surprisingly bloody action for an Otome game, it’s a series that can easily be enjoyed by guys despite technically being targeted at a female audience.

DAY 22

I’m perfectly fine with both, but I do prefer dubs. I tend to get more enjoyment out of shows when I hear them in a language I can understand. It’s really not about quality, or whichever one is supposedly “better” than the other for me. It’s just an observation I’ve made. So if I have the option, 9 times out of 10 I’ll go with the dub, but if a show I want to watch doesn’t have a dub then I’ll watch it subbed. No big deal, unless it’s part of an ongoing franchise where I’m already familiar with the dub voices (or vice versa). In which case I might wait for the opportunity to watch the other language, depending on the circumstances.

Although I used to watch dubs almost exclusively in my earlier years of being an anime fan, these days I probably watch more subs if I’m being honest, but mostly when streaming. This is because over the last year or two I’ve started following significantly more simulcasts than I have in the past, but I buy very few sub-only shows aside from must-own, personal favorites. There’s less incentive to buy them when I can stream most for free, which isn’t always the case with dubs. My stream watching is probably about 80-85% subs, while DVD is more like 95% dubs.

Hopefully the recent trend of broadcast dubs can balance things out a bit, although that may not happen as long as FUNi continues to keep things behind a paywall. Aniplex is the only company streaming theirs for free.

Arriving here i was thinking “oh there’s some hardcore fan here, they must drown into the japanese voices”, I’ve never been so wrong.

I think the only reason i’m such a pro-sub is because english isn’t my native language. Since highschool i took the reflex of watching everything in original version. Initially it was to be better in english, but i also like to think that i’m closer to the creator’s idea if i watch the original stuff.

Even though when i was little i watched everything dubbed in my mother tongue, now i just hate it. I can’t stand it ahah. So that goes for the englsih dub of my favorite anime.

But anyway i totally understand why dub is so loved. The voices that you hear as a child.. well they stay forever, don’t they ? (Not for me but hey…)

To me it’s more about having fun and enjoying oneself, so language and language format aren’t has important to me as long as I am enjoying myself watching.

That said if I had to choose between dub or sub I pick sub because I have come to enjoy the

Japanese versions so much.

Day 22 – Subs or Dubs? Depends on the title. I don’t have a system, it’s just what I’m feeling (I guess the quality of the dub can affect this).

Day 23 – Fav Studio Ghibli?

Tough! Haven’t seen them all, but I have a soft spot for Howl’s Moving Castle (I would also possibly throw in Ghost in the Shell 2 via technicality, one many people wouldn’t think of for Ghibli).

My favorite Ghibli film is definitely Nausicaa. It was my first, and so it holds a special place in my heart. I saw it back in the day on Toonami. It’s also one of Ghibli’s only sci-fi films, which most people here know I’m a huge fan of, so that really appealed to me in a way their other films (as fantastic as they are) didn’t.

I love every Miyazaki’s movies. But Mononoke was my first, so just like Wisper, it has a special place in da heart. I remember every dialogue of it. And I when I’ve seen it in japanese a few month ago, gosh.. it was even better.

Maybe just like Mitsuki, i started to get into Anime quite late, like a year after highschool, so i’m kinda safe now.

I’ve never been bullied for liking anime, but I have had some strange looks from people and some awkward conversations about certain shows and I used to get some snarky comments from my dad whenever he’d see me watching, well, anything from Japan.

I don’t consider any of that bullying though, but I still never liked dealing with it. Because of this I’ve slowly turned into a bit of a closet anime fan over the years. Unless it’s something I’m watching with my siblings (DBZ, select Toonami shows, etc.) I try to only watch anime when I’m alone (whether it’s a show I wouldn’t want others to see me watching or not) and unless I’m among other anime fans I rarely talk openly about my hobby unless I’m asked.

DAY 25

For a long time I felt like Shinji was basically an anime version of me in my teenage years. I wasn’t messed up and depressed like he is, but his quiet/shy/wishy-washy/I-don’t-know-how-to-deal-with-this-situation personality was basically like mine. I’ve made a number of changes for the better over the past few years though, so these days I’d probably say I’m similar to a less awkward, less naive approximation of Mikado from Durarara.

As for who I wish I was like, well, I’m gonna go with Mikado again. Not his personality though (since I’m already like that), but his situation I guess you could say. Living in a new place with friends, getting to meet a bunch of unusual, but interesting people (especially headless bikers and busty, bespectacled babes, of course 😉), even being involved in some weird supernatural goings-on. The kind of life where something interesting is always right around the corner, for better or worse. Seems like that’d be pretty fun.

I didn’t see a all bunch of anime, but i did get emotional with a lot of scene.

My most recent eye-watering situation sould be with FMA..
The death of Hughes was a really strong moment.. “It started raining” Oh gosh gosh gosh…

Also at the very end of the series, when we think that Mustang is dead, and then we see that he’s not !! That was powerful.. Also in the last episode, we see Warth with mechanical arm and leg, god damn.. the sight of that…

But i do remember some scene of for example Evangelion or AoT, big light-gory fucked up stuff, who made me emotional as fuck.

It’s super amazing and now well into the second season or New Wings as it’s subtitled I keep

getting more and more surprised at the depth of the characters and the plot.

I don’t believe I’ve ever really cried from watching a show, not counting tears from laughing really hard at least. The scene towards the end of GITS SAC Season 1 when
the Tachikomas were destroyed
did make my eyes a little moist, but I think that’s as close as I’ve gotten to crying while watching an anime.

DAY 27

I’ve gotta recommend this personal favorite of mine. Perhaps because it was handled by AnimEigo and was released (in it’s entirety) in single volumes over the course of several years, it always stayed very under-the-radar in the US, especially compared to the likes of InuYasha and Ranma which were both huge hits.

UY is just such a fun series. If you like Rumiko Takahashi’s sense of humor, I implore you to check this show out (along with it’s accompanying movies and OVAs).

DAY 28

Do I share my anime interests with others? In general, not really. The only people in real life that know about it are my parents, siblings, and a handful of friends. I frequent a number of anime-centric places online (Tenchiforum, ANN, Fandom Post, etc.) to participate in the fandom, but I mostly keep my anime hobby to myself unless specifically asked about it.

DAY 29

This one if so vague and hard to narrow down. A few that would towards the top of my favorite characters list would be (in no particular order):

Motoko Kusanagi (GITS), Haruko (FLCL) and Ryoko, of course.

I have a friend who read a lot of mangas, but mostly hardcore fucked up one, the one that literally screw your brain, so i don’t talk with him about Tenchi.

I share my anime interest mainly with my relatives.

I started to really watch anime just recently, so i don’t share it too much yet.

Day 29: Yuki from Silent Mobius, Kagome from Inuyasha and this Sanada Mitsuki

Day 25 – Character I’m like? Idk, I’m sort of like Vash the stampede…not in mad skillz with a six shooter, but I’ll genuinely try to do the right thing because of values instilled by those who have gone before me, even to the point of it being self-detrimental to my own well-being. A little naive, one could argue, but a good ideal to strive for imo. Perhaps if Vash is more like my superego, Wolfwood would be my ego: a good guy at his core, but a little weather-worn from walking the walk, fighting the good fight, etc. etc.

My best days I’d like to think I’m also like Kurama from Yu Yu Hakusho for many hubris-fueled reasons. Seriously, that gorgeous hair…..

Day 26 – An anime scene that made me cry? And you want me to only list just one? Hmm…

I’d wager that one in FMA where you all know: “Eddd-wwwaaard” sadface1

Day 27 – Recommend an anime people might not have seen: off the top of my head, the ’90s remake of Bubblegum Crisis, which is Bubblegum Crisis: Tokyo 2040. As someone who normally approaches any sort of re-do/remake with more than a pinch of salt, and who quite enjoyed the original, I must say even though I was attracted for the director behind it (Tenchi director Hayashi!) it’s objectively stellar, an enjoyable watch, a gem of the nineties, and whatever you expect going in, it’s going to be it and a little more of the unexpected sprinkled in.

Day 28 – Do I share my anime interests with anyone? Sure! Friends and family, if it comes up in a relevant discussion.

Day 29 – Favorite character. Ever? That’s like impossible, so I’ll just say…my fav space pirate Ryoko!

Day 30 – What anime has my heart? Come on, now, I think you all know. 😉
