Like Nobuyuki pointed out, it’s apparently true after all. There was some concern seeing as how it was posted on April fools day and all, and at one point the link threw up a 404 error

but it seems that it is, in fact, real!

Then hurrah! iloveit1 But I am a bit surprised, Jojo just seems like one of those titles that 1. didn’t garner enough interest over here, & 2. was always having troubles with rights being tied up over here. I know most of that has to do with music/artists, but it got me in the mind set of ‘well, guess that’ll never happen.’

It’s actually kind of exciting being in the Western anime climate at large at this point in time, because when something like this happens–like Tenchi OVA’s being streamed on places like Hulu, or Blade of the Phantom Masters being on Netflix–it makes all the more evident the fact that anime is continuously becoming more and more accessible, and more profoundly acceptable, by the popular culture here in the West.

Wasn’t a huge fan of the new opening theme the first time I heard it, but on repeat listens, it’s actually rather grown on me. I do miss having Roundabout at the end though.

Not being familiar with the manga, I’ve actually found Stardust Crusaders a bit underwhelming thus far. I’m pleased to see that it seems to be picking up now though; that fourth episode felt like we’ve finally gotten past the introductions and we’re starting to get into the series properly.

I came into the Jojo franchise through the OVA, so many things seemed much slower paced than before, but seeing as how this TV series is following the manga much more closely, it was nice to see the differences between the 2. I wouldn’t say it was underwhelming to me, but it’s definitely focusing more on exposition than other things, which is a bit slow, but overall I really enjoy it so far, especially old Joseph, he’s much more feisty this time around.

Don’t know if I’ll ever get used to Crunchyroll’s version of “yare yare daze” though

Viz Media confirmed with ANN on Tuesday that it will release JoJo’s Bizarre Adventures: Part 1–Phantom Blood volume one in North America in February. The company also teased that it will have more announcements regarding JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure at its Anime Expo panel on July 3.

An Amazon listing, which has since been removed, dated the volume for February 3 with an MSRP of US$19.99. The title in the Amazon listing and in Viz’s confirmation both used “Adventures” instead of “Adventure.”

First time this part of the manga’s been available in English. :D

I’ve heard a few people comment on that – what was the usual translation before?

On an unrelated note, I’m enjoying the series far more now. After last week’s installment, it feels like they’ve really upped their game.

The manga I believe went with “So Annoying” or “fucking annoying” and the OVA went with “What a pain”, I prefer “what a pain” but I’d take “so annoying” over “Good Grief”, I just can’t get over seeing charlie brown in my minds eye every time I see it, lol.

Now that we’ve gotten to J.Gail and Hol Horse, things are going to start REALLY picking up and getting intense.

      1st 3 JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Stardust Crusaders Episodes English-Dubbed

      Quote:

Media service Crunchyroll announced on Monday that it will stream the first three episodes of the JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Stardust Crusaders television anime series with an English dub on July 5 until midnight July 6. The same dubbed episodes will also be screened at Anime Expo on July 5. The Anime Expo screening will include a talk session with Shueisha executive producer Satoshi Adachi, Warner Entertainment Japan producer Hiroyuki Omori, and Shueisha producer Ryosuke Mori.

The English dub stars Matthew Mercer (Jotaro Kujo), Richard Epcar (Joseph Joestar), and Patrick Seitz (DIO).

Crunchyroll is already streaming the English-subtitled version of the first JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure anime series, as well as JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Stardust Crusaders as it airs in Japan.

All I know is that I better hear Jotaro say “What a pain” instead of “Good grief”, but otherwise i’m sooo looking forward to this! jotaro1

Bit spoilery for the end of episode 17, but I thought this was a rather amusing transcription of Jotaro’s internal thought process while he’s trying to dream up one-liners:

Considering Warner Japan was behind Jojo a lot, It doesn’t completely surprise me, and they did release the Supernatural anime so it won’t be their first outing, my only hope is they keep the test dub cast they had for Stardust Crusaders (at least as far as Patrick Seitz staying as Dio throughout, and Richard Epcar being Old Joseph).

It is odd that Viz isn’t getting it, but I imagine the ending themes were a big part of why Warner is doing it outright (IE Araki saying “Either themes stay in or no go”)

      Awesome news regardless.
