    Well i felt that Nagi, the awesome bounty hunter from universe, deserved her own thread and not just lumped together with everyone else… So you know the drill. (on my iPhone so cba to copy/paste the disclaimer. Will do it when I’m home if I need to).

    I think Nagi kicked ass and added a nice touch to the series. Added a lot of funny moments as well.

    I’ll had to this in a bit.

      Although Ayeka and Ryoko is the ultimate rivalry, I think Nagi is an excellent addition to the group dynamics, and a great rival for Ryoko. The two are very similar in many ways, & Nagi almost serves as an example in many ways Ryoko as she could have been–ruthless, cunning, mercilessly taking down her prey–aspects which Ryoko undoubtedly would exhibit during her life as a space pirate. Wonder how/if Nagi’s personality would change if she ever found ‘that special someone.’ :mrgreen:

      Plus she’s a very likeable villain in several ways: As evidenced towards the end of Universe, she is known to be the most cutthroat bounty hunter in the universe, yet when she sees Ryoko in her weakened state, she refuses to take her in. One could argue this was purely because she demands a challenge, but to me, having pursued Ryoko for so long, I’d bet she’s grown just a teeny bit fond of her, if only for the thrill of the chase. Nagi has a sense of honor, a quality not seen in many other Tenchi villains, securing her position as the likeable antihero (antiheroine, as it were) instead of a true villain to be loathed.

      & anyone that’s companions with a nice guy like Ken Ohki certainly can’t be all bad.

      I’ve never seen her as a villain, just an adversary- specifically Ryoko’s.

      I’ve always loved Nagi from the moment I saw her appear from the shadows in TV#10. ^^v One of her great aspects, and what I think attracts fans to her, is her mystique. Other than her rivalry with Ryoko and general badassery, the TV series says little about who this woman is. She’s a lone wolf bounty hunter with a mad-on for taking Ryoko’s head. There’s also Ken-Ohki. =^^=

      This leaves a lot of questions. Why is she after Ryoko so vehemently, even to fight both the GP and Jurai? Is it just the honor and the paycheck, or something deeper? Where does she come from? Who are her people? These are the things I need to know. :dexter:

      I agree with most everything wwwwhhhhoooo has said regarding her rivalry with Ryoko, and the two are similar in aspects of their design beyond their personalities. Consider the following design sketches I have in my archives. ^^v

      She has a bit of a “Vegeta” feel to her, I think, not that Ryoko is anywhere close to being as pure-hearted (or dumb) as Son Goku. ^^; She seems more rugged than Ryoko. ^^v

      Then, there’s her costume. Without the cape, notice that it looks a lot like Ryoko’s combat uniform in both OVA and TV. Including the cape, it looks a lot like this old VHS cover. ^.^v

      Lastly, her weapons just make her even more of a boss. m/

      Now, consider this little ‘shop I did ages ago. :umad2:

      To say that I have some pet theories regarding these two is would be an understatement, but I do think that the architects of the TV series were aiming at giving Ryoko an adversary, who was on par with her, perhaps even her equal or superior in some ways.

      That’s a very good question, and I would have hoped a second season of the Universe continuity would have delved deeper into her character, both future and past. In lieu of that, I’ll just keep writing. ^_-

      As with most of the cast in whole they did a fantastic job designing Nagi. I just have nothing bad to say about her! She’s smart, great character design, and is a highly skilled bounty hunter. Plus her ship design is one of my top 3. Ken Ohki <3

      Everybody loves a badass bounty hunter, and that’s exactly what Nagi is! Even better, she is an improvement on the long established trope of space bounty hunters due to her unique rivalry with Ryoko. Indeed, as Nobuyuki and others have pointed out above, she really isn’t a villain, more of an adversary. I wont attempt to replicate Pii’s analysis of her, but I will add that to me Nagi was one of the great little additions to the story that made Universe such a great show.

      I only know two Nagis,one is the kickass secondary heroine from Boogiepop Phantom and the other is

      the game lovin’ boss of the title hero of Hayate the Combat Butler. 😆

      And so, I present to you my very first piece of Tenchi fanart! :D

      I spent about 25-30 minutes on this last night. I may consider going back and coloring it later.

      Well after seeing the preview for No Need For Swimsuits episode of Universe yesterday night,I have to say I am waiting to see what Nagi looks like in episode 20.
