    After doing some digging, it appears that the world at large doesn’t have a Tenchi time that covers much of anything.

    I recall, but can’t seem to locate, that around the time of GXP there were some line graphics that were made up to try and solve the question of when GXP 17 happened, so we could extrapolate. These appear to have vanished into personal collections or lost to the internet sands of time.

    So what I’d like to do is a collaborative effort to just collect information. Then I’d like to assemble some line graphs so we have as current as possible time lines. Specifically, I’d like to see OVA, Universe, and Dual, being probably the easiest to research due to what we have floating between us in materials. I can handle the Dual part, I just have to crack open my books and rewatch a couple sections.

    Tenchi no Onsen Tamago is a guidebook I used to have but sold off, it was a guide that covered everything up through GXP novel 1’s existence, around 2011. A passing glance at scans however, doesn’t yield many dates, although there’s quite a few maps and other items of interest in there.

    OVA:

    Ryoko

    Birthday: August 8

    From the old Ryoko Fanclub:

    Quote:

    When the Tenchi Muyo! Ryo-Ohki OAV series was first introduced in 1992, Ryoko’s age was given in various documents (such as Dragon Magazine) as 2,017 years; Aeka’s as 720; Sasami’s as 708. Basically, the writers took their physical apparent ages and added a convenient number of centuries.

    However, if one tries to trace out the OAV timeline based on all the facts revealed in the series, one quickly runs into contradictions; it’s impossible for Ryoko to be only 2,017 years old. This becomes very clear in OAV episode 12, where Washu states (and there seems to be no good reason to disbelieve her) that she had been in captivity for the last 5,000 years.

    Here is AIC’s explanation:

    Ryoko is actually more than 5,000 years old, not 2,000 as she told Washu (OVA Ep. 6). Subconsciously jealous of Ayeka’s youthful appearance, she stated her age in galactic calendar years rather than Earth years.

    (Source: Tenchi Encyclopedia, on the Manatsu no Eve DVD.)

    So a Galactic Calendar Year is approximately 2.5 Earth years, and Ryoko was approximately 5,040 years old in 1992.

    Which if memory serves, is also addressed in the 101 Secrets book the same way.

    I’ve got a little info I dredged up off some defunct sites.

    TU Dates:

    Masaki Tenchi: April 24th

    Hakubi Ryoko: August 23rd

    Jurai Aeka: September 21st

    (from Ongaku-hen CD:)

    Jurai Sasami: February 14th

    TMiL 1 Novel:

    Quote:

    Chapter 1, The world of 1970 (CE). Page 10

    Chapter 2, 1996, Masaki house’s extinction. Page 37

    Chapter 3, 1970, Lovely youth. Page 54

    Chapter 4, Space Calendar 507410 …… Kain is sealed off. Page 86

    Chapter 5, 1970, Tokyo. Page 98

    Chapter 6, Space Calendar 507510 …… GP’s annihilation. Page 126

    Chapter 7, 1970, Abnormality in Tokyo’s sky. Page 138

    Chapter 8, Space Calendar 507484, Kain’s annihilation. Page 172

    Epilogue. Page 194

    The table of contents pretty much follows the order the movie was told in. The Year 1970 is when the events of In Love are taken place and when Kain was eliminated.

    Kain Sealed – Space Calendar 507410 = Earth Calendar Year: 1896

    Kain destroyed – Space Calendar 507484 = Earth Calendar Year: 1970

    Kain’s escape/GP attacked – Space Calendar 507510 = Earth Calendar Year: 1996

    from Pretty Sammy Artbook:

    Sasami Kawai (Pretty Sammy)…June 18

    Misao Amano (Pixy Misa)…March 29

    Rumiya (Misa’s ‘bird-boy’ pal)…December 21 (Jurai Calendar)

    Ryo-Oki (Sammy’s cabbit pal)…October 2

    Washu…July 21

    Tsunami…January 1 (Jurai Calendar)

    Ramia…February 29 (Jurai Calendar)

    Chihiro (Sammy’s OVA mom)…November 10

    Aeka…July 23

    Ryoko…February 3

    Tenchi…April 1

    Mihoshi…October 10

    Kiyone…September 15

    What do you guys have for info? Keep in mind some sources may be messed up, so try to list where it came from if you can.

      afaik I don’t have a link to Jurai, there’s a summary here, and another out on the web that was linked, but I don’t have a scan of it that I’m aware of at the moment.

      I have the 3 Paradise Wars, GXP 3, 4, and 13, some of Eternal Memory from various places, and some doujins. I don’t have any other books.

      Should the manga also be counted as well? I checked No need for Tenchi vol 10 and vol 05 and 07 of All new Tenchi and there’s inconsistency.

      In vol 7 of All new Tenchi chapter 1 it states the ages of Ayeka, Ryoko, Tenchi, Sasami

      Sasami=708 years old

      Tenchi=17 years old

      Ayeka=720 years old

      Ryoko=5000 years old

      In vol 5 of All new Tenchi chapter 3

      Mihoshi= 24 years old

      Washu=20000 years old

      Ryoko= 5000 years old

      Ayeka=700 years old

      Sasami=709 years old

      In vol 5 I just assume they rounded with Ryoko, Ayeka and Washu’s ages

      but in one of the stories in vol 5 the narrator lists Sasami as 8 years old

      In vol 10 of No need #7

      they list Sasami as 9 years old

      so does the manga get counted in the time line since it’s part of OVA story? or does it get ruled out?

      Nobuyuki

      I vote out, as the manga is its own thing and has no influence on the main storylines. Also: ;)

      I don’t mind you collecting the info, but these need to be per series due to drastic differences between continuities. So far as my goals, go, I want the main OVA and TU timelines, as they are the most important for translation and the most commonly referenced. The manga would have to be counted as it’s own thing and I’m not going to commit to working on that as I need something manageable to complete.

      looked through OVA 1 ep 4 “Mihoshi Falls to the land of the Stars” and actually found some dates being mentioned by Yukinojou discussing Kagato’s past crimes:

      In Space Calendar Year

      5901=broke into museum of historical relics on planet Alpha

      5901=2000 civilians and officials disappear from mystery zone on planet Beta

      5903=destroyed city ruins on planet Yura

      5912=kidnapped Washu on planet Todain

      5923=Ryoko destroyed Jurai palace on Jurai

      Kagato age= estimated 5000 years old

      I have dub eps, so it might be different in the sub

      Dual timeline data collection complete, couple of oddities in there…

      When Kazuki said his parents went abroad 10 years ago, seems like they dropped the viewers in at that point literally 10 years later from the war of 99-00, to nearly the end of 2011.

      jgzinv

      Initial draft of the Dual timeline, it’s got estimates for pretty much everything after the Original battle up to the OVA, as there are no date markers in that area, all you can do is count the transitions or estimate it. Personally I feel the ending is later in the year, but there’s no snow to indicate winter or the characters dressing up because it got colder. I didn’t account for the AICOS dates, as those are from the future in the case of the earlier one, and even later in the case of ZINV and the battleship, so dunno if they should be taken seriously or not. Sometimes software is future dated.

      http://www.tiki-toki.com/timeline/entry/652202/Dual-Parallel-Trouble-Adventure-Timeline/

      In the bottom right set your spacing to Equal Spacing 1 and adjust the Zoom if it’s all bunched up on default.

      I found a couple more inconsistencies and a couple of really interesting things like how Dual is accurate to the days of the week for school attendance in the series, but that no longer matters in the OVA.

      I have been combing the Tenchi GXP anime for any kind of time reference, but so far there is no dates of any kind that I can find. I mean there was ep 8 where the alarm clock struck 8:00 am, but that’s it.

      Uki I think we’d have to probably reference the books since they seem more interested in details, but good to know.

      I forget how we tried to figure out when GXP was with the crossover at the AICBBS.

      @ Al, unfortunately I can’t offset one time line to make the dates shift better. It’s a free site and all, but it’s one of the top 2 I found for this sort of thing. It really exposes some curious events on how things are though.

      I was thinking about that (scale shifting) but never actually looked into it before. Looks like this feature isn’t available anywhere. And nobody thought about making it possible?

      I can’t find anything related nor software details either… sadface1

      There’s timeline @ sourgeforge

      https://sourceforge.net/projects/tline/?source=directory

      It’s a simple script. I doubt it’s as useful. But the Html bit might be useful for a webpage.

      Anyway, a work around would be setting up tags to mark the scale’s years. Downside, things will clutter all over the place. I don’t see anything else that could be done now.

      went through some eps of GXP anime again, in the first ep the Seina’s mother said it had been 6 months

      ep 16 and 17 might all have been just 2 days since it went to night to an entire day and a night at Masaki household

      also ep 19 were also 2 days as well
