    I didn’t know there was a livestream sort of Toonami showing stuff around the clock… 😮 😯 😮 😯 😮 😯

    http://www.toonamiaftermath.com/schedule

They’re even running MST 3000 and Tenchi Muyo on weekends.

They’ve got one of the CD’s livestreaming on the music page as well.

If that doesn’t do it, there’s Toonami Digital Arsenal too.

If I start watching I may never be heard from again, at least until Pokemon comes into rotation. :|

We have animes shown in Cartoon Network (Asia) although in a limited schedule. I wish I had animax, cause our local anime dubded channel sucks.

OMG!!! 😯 Had no idea this existed, thanks for sharing!

Sure, most of the material broadcasted on Toonami could probably be found online easily enough, but I love that they’re streaming it live, & there’s a schedule to adhere to. First serious attempt I’ve seen at re-creating the good old days.

As previously mentioned, I too better be careful when I start watching this…it’s probably gonna’ be like a time warp/nostalgia trip that I won’t want to end!

I remember years ago when both these guys and Neo=Toonami first started up, (The Toonami re-boom of 09 really helped get these guys going)

I’m glad that there are people willing to keep the dream going, and that they’ve come this far

You know its funny, at first I thought that keeping Toonami only on a stream and not through tv (no matter how impossible that would be to do) would be foolish, but all the new fans of this day and age are fans through the internet, just like Tom was replaced by Tom 2, Toonami would live on through the fans, in the new popular medium for anime and action toon consumption.

Anyway, it has my full support ^_^

Even though this is an old thread I think it’s time to add this:Toonami will officially return to the Toon Network on

May 26th.It will air late night Saturdays early Sundays from Midnight to 6a.m.The line up has not been revealed as yet.

Samurai 7 will be replacing Deadman Wonderland on Toonami.

Despite the ending twist, I’d say this is a good move, S7 fits Toonami much better than DM.

It aired around 2007 on another cable network.

Now there’s another decent choice… granted people with have to stick with it to appreciate it though.
That’s why I was wondering if they learned their lesson from last time.Remember how pissed everyone was

when they edited out the ending to the finale and so they had to re-run the finale all over and this time

      show the entire episode.

I wonder if this means they might air the new series as well and also the movie.

The movie was a real mind screw, it pertains more to AO now than anything really….
I read the review of it at The Anime Review, basically agree with you,Zinv, that it screwed everything around.

I would be more interested in someone airing Last Exile:Fam of the Silver Wing instead.Mainly because it would be interesting to see how the heck Dio survived that fall.

      jgzinv

It’s not shown in FAM either… you have to go read the wiki really.

Nor do they ever cover why Claus is confined to a wheelchair and can’t fly anymore.

Really both Fam and the manga were let downs… other than the handful of Dio scenes or Sylvis fight scenes the rest was largely pointless.

Heh?Claus in a wheelchair? I never heard about that before. Then again I’ve read only a few of the episode

synopsis/reviews of the show that ANB had up about it at his site. He’s been watching Urusei Yatsura lately.

      That’s like a gazillion episodes. 😆

(Though I have to admit I wish I had at least some of the tv series to go with the movie and OVA I have.)

Lol wow. Just Wow. I suppose southeast asia has a larger audience more willing to part with cash… but still that’s a bit ridiculous to go full out with toonami across the ocean when they KNOW that they have a highly devoted audience here. Well I suppose that we should all hope that this succeeds so that they will be more willing to try it over here.
      Thorn

As Chuck said, it is understandable considering that they might have a bit larger fanbase in Asia…a bit…and given Southeast Asia’s proximity to anime mecca, I’d be willing to bet that just about everyone knows what it is even if they don’t watch it.

I do think it’s a bit unfair, though, that they get a full channel overseas despite the noise we all made when Toonami was canned and the fact that there is a large enough fanbase for it to be profitable in North America.

      Anonymous
      Guest
The thing is, it’s not like it’s much different then Adult Swim’s “Toonami” now, if you don’t get the shows behind it, you’re gonna lose your fanbase, the exact reason why Toonami is barely doing better then ASA (Adult Swim Anime) did and most of the anime that we all knew and loved would have to be re-licensed, and have fun re-licensing everything from Bandai.

Stop milking the name and the nostalgia and put on decent line-ups.

      Thorn

I agree. I do definitely enjoy seeing TOM and his introductions and commentary again, but there’s no difference at all other than that between the Adult Swim line up and the current Toonami lineup. It needs some kind of a change in programming to actually reinforce that Toonami is back again and also attract more viewers who have gotten used to the same old stuff from Adult Swim. They’re usually pretty consistent with keeping their regular non-anime line-up fresh, but when it comes to Saturday nights, we get the same stuff for months at a time.
Perhaps they think since there isn’t much competition on Basic Cable any more for anime viewership

they can simply get away with showing the same things over and over again.

      Thorn
      Member
That’s a good point, but it’s also incentive for them to try and change up the schedule so that they can keep the audience that grew up on Toonami, as well as bring in some new viewers to the block. The only other places that we really have to watch anime rather than buy it are A. the internet and B. Netflix. as well as channels like Funimation provided the cable provider carries it. And the internet and Netflix can’t always be relied on as steady sources because videos are constantly being taken down left and right over copyright issues and Netflix doesn’t have a particularly wide selection of anime.
You could try Animenation’s anime rental program if your not satisfied with Netflix.

On the whole,I think that the only reason Toonami is back in the first place is because enough anime fans put pressure on AS and the Toon channel to do so.If people really want more variety they have to keep

the pressure on TPTB at AS to show more of a variety.

The only reason it ever died in the first place was because the network killed it by turning it into crap and then put it out of it’s misery when the willing viewers went elsewhere.

Now now to be fair, Williams Street & Cartoon Network were being pressured by those horrid Soccer mom groups to make Toonami more “kid friendly” honestly Politics both social, and media related with a mix of many other things led to Toonami’s initial demise.

Quite frankly i’m just glad to have it back. Wish it was ALL of Saturday night and not just 12/11PM on, but hey, beggers can’t be choosers.

Same here. Shame I can’t watch it much since I don’t have cable (I know someone–likely Z-man–posted where there was a live streaming of it somewhere at some point) but I’m also glad it’s back because it shows that with the efforts of social media devices (being used constructively well how about that?) big names like Steve Blum taking an interest, and the network listening to the influx of fan-submitted petitions and requests, we actually had an impact, and it shows that what you see on tv–stretch it farther, who is sitting in your Congressman’s chair, oval office, etc.–isn’t something totally intangible or unattainable; it’s dependent on, and reflects us in a very real way, and thus we can change it. So, yeah, I thought that was cool.

Criticism is fine, but I don’t like when people are unfairly negative about how much Toonami sucks now, or how it used to be waaaay better, etc….yeah, I was there, I know that, we all know that, but we wanted it after all, and in a world today where networks, corporations, private entities, and individuals alike are so bottom-dollar money/profit driven, the fact that CN listened to viewer input at all and threw us a bone so to speak…yeah, us ‘beggars’ should be a little appreciative me thinks.

Some major changes and additions coming to the Toonami lineup next week. They’re dropping the repeat block, doubleing up on reruns, and adding two fan-favorite, action-packed CN shows ( 😮 )

When all is said and done, the new schedule will look like this:

      12:00 a.m. Bleach

      12:30 a.m. Samurai 7

      1:00 a.m. Casshern Sins

      1:30 a.m. Eureka 7

      2:00 a.m. Sym-Bionic Titan (!)

      2:30 a.m. Thundercats (!)

      3:00 a.m. FMA Brotherhood

      3:30 a.m. FMA Brotherhood

4:00 a.m. Ghost In The Shell

4:30 a.m. Ghost In The Shell

      5:00 a.m. Cowboy Bebop

      5:30 a.m. Cowboy Bebop

I gotta say, I’m pretty excited about this. I loved the new Thundercats, but I missed afew episodes during its initial run, so now I have a chance to catch the whole thing. I’ve heard nothing but good things about Symbiotic Titan, so I look forward to giving that a try.

Meh, not my cup of tea. What I’m REALLY hoping for is Funimation to throw Toonami a line by giving them rights to air Tenchi and other good shows they currently have, and then later to give them shows they are currently dubbing like Geminar, Yamato: Resurrection. Other than that, I just hope that toonami brings back some more of the “classics” that made it great in the past.

I agree, I think they’re getting better from the limited ones I’ve seen. I did like the one where Tom ‘levels’ with us viewers about the ‘facts of life’ acknowledging ‘yes, all our stuff is pretty much re-runs, but it’s anime, we in America will always get it second-hand so deal with it’

The only one that I’ve found I just can’t get into is Samurai 7. All the other shows aside from Casshern Sins are pretty solid, we’ve just been worn out on them because they’ve been part of the Adult Swim lineup for so long. I do enjoy FMA: Brotherhood more than the original FMA.

Honestly, both Casshern and Samurai 7 hooked me from the beginning. It was Deadman Wonderland that I didn’t like all that much. I think my preferences just lean more towards slower-moving plot-driven shows that also have some action. I watch everything else thats on too except Bebop (which I own and have already seen), GITS SAC Season 1 (which I also own, but I was watching 2nd Gig when it was on), and I just recently dropped FMA:B (which I’ve decided to buy, and wanted afew “new” episodes to watch on BD).

I agree with what you say about slower moving/plot driven shows Wisper. I was only able to catch the first few saturdays of toonami before school work got in the way, but I really like Casshern Sins and didn’t find Deadman Wonderland all that appealing. Other than that, I was indifferent towards the rest of the toonami shows that I saw. It’s cool that they have the new Thundercats now, but I hope that they keep it predominantly Japanese anime centered. What I would LOVE to see is Funi give them Tenchi and Trigun. I know that new shows will need to dominate to win the younger audience, but they really need to satisfy the fans of their classic shows.
I’m Really glad Thundercats & Sym-Bionic Titan were added to the line-up! Love both shows! And sad both got cut after only 1 season. AS must save them and make season 2 themselves!!!

Also Yes, i’m back. I’m abit less busy now. Although I am kind of sick..so don’t get to close don’t want to spread my germs. :P

Are they rerunning the original or showing the newer AO series?

They’re rerunning the original. AO hasn’t even finished airing in Japan yet. But I assume they’re doing it in preperation for when AO does finally get dubbed, so they can air it.
Oh…are they going to air the movie as well?
      WisperG
      Member
Well… I dunno. AS doesn’t often announce shows that will be airing, new stuff usually just shows up on the schedule a week or two out. But they have said that they can’t afford movies for the forseeable future, so the E7 movie wont happen for awhile, if ever.

Personally, I couldn’t care less if they never show the movie. I hated it. Being a reboot (as opposed to a sequel/prequel), it was completely pointless, and I didn’t like the direction they took the new story in. The animation was great, but thats about the only positive thing I have to say about it.

      jgzinv
      Member
Yeah they essentially did a “mirror mirror” type thing and I hated it too.

Taking the good guys, making them evil, and the said good guys trying to rape

the female lead is one heck of a departure from the original. I don’t know what kind

of drugs they were on at the time….

AO is the continuation after E7, though it’s by several years. There’s a 51st episode

to E7 most don’t know about either.

Is episode 51 an epilogue sort of story? It seems to me that episode 50 pretty much concluded the original series.

Its more of an alternate ending that ignores the last few episodes. Technically its not even a proper “episode”, at least it wasn’t at first. IIRC it was an audio drama that years later was edited into an episode using existing footage from the TV series. This was fairly recent however, long after Bandai USA released the show on DVD (otherwise they probably would’ve included it), which is why so few have seen it or even know about it. But AO still follows the original TV ending, not this alternate ending.

      jgzinv
      Member
Eh unless you’ve got additional information otherwise, I’ve seen several references that are very well in favor of the 51st episode being the basis for AO.

Like Tenchi you have to dig a bit deeper, in that the 7 fragments of Eureka are her scattering across dimensions and time. Which is why Renton (20 something ver.) is out trying to track her down at the end of AO season 1.

      WisperG
      Member
I admit, I haven’t seen AO, or most of Eureka 7 for that matter. Everything I know about Episode 51 is stuff I’ve heard from others, including the part about it not being canon. Maybe they were wrong, I don’t really know. But they seemed pretty sure of themselves when they claimed AO followed the original TV ending.

I also thought it would just be odd for them to make a sequel that continues off such an obscure episode that seemingly few people have actually seen, or even know about. Although, I suppose it would be more well known in Japan.

If AO does indeed follow after episode 51, I would hope that FUNi try to include it in their release, assuming they even know about it…

EDIT: Ok, did some more research. Now I’m hearing Episode 51 is an adaptation of the manga’s ending :? , which apparently differed from the TV ending, and that you’re right that this is indeed the ending AO follows after. I think. Its hard to seperate fact from all the speculation. This is also the first time I’ve heard mention of the manga ending with regards to Ep.51, which I haven’t read and wasn’t aware was different.

      jgzinv
      Member
Well I saw E7 (in full), the E7 movie, AO S1, AO (manga), and have the OST box set ^_^ .

Far as the plot goes so far, AO follows the 51st episode. Which to some fair degree, I don’t agree with cause it didn’t “need” to be continued like this. E7 has a good ending on it’s own.

AO is only just in the last few eps, getting interesting, and it’s lacking a lot of viewer ties to the characters and grand scheme that made E7 what it was. It’s much more a sci fi flick slapped up the side of the head with E7… like a Gundam show that went way off track.

I’m just hoping with the reintroduction of main characters, it’ll right itself. I’m hoping it doesn’t crash and burn like poor Last Exile FAM did. Such great source material.. made a tie in manga and new series, and both were near complete let downs.

I don’t know as I would watch either Last Exile:FAM or Eureka 7 AO myself.Though I did enjoy the originals of both,I can’t say from all the talk that I’d bother with the sequels.

Well how bout that! It’s not my favorite by a long shot, but I suppose any Tenchi on Toonami is good! :D

Although purely out of curiosity I think it will be interesting to see how the majority of the uninitiated fans feels about the least watched Tenchi show.

I think/hope their using it as a foot hole to bring the old ones back. Since it was set for more of the space aspects. Which makes some sense for Toms shtik. :WUTH: I’ll quit ranting now.

How long do the rights to titles last before some other network can grab them up?

Haha… no. They don’t have the rights anymore. CN’s rights to Tenchi expired way back in 2002, when they removed it from Toonami’s lineup.

This is only for the States as far a GXP broadcast rights are concerned. AS/CN can’t share rights to licensed programs with their overseas counterparts. Typically, FUNi (or any other company) only ever acquire North American TV/DVD rights when they license shows. Foreign networks would need to go to whoever has the license for their own region (if anyone has it).

Well when you think about it Death Note wasn’t exactly an action packed series either.True it did have some action sequences, then again the majority of the series was one long chess match between L and

I hear the ratings were really good this past week. Haven’t been tuning in myself but glad the block is succeeding. Supposedly Black Dynamite is getting the shaft because it was a really bad lead-in for Toonami. Glad to see Williams Street is doing everything they can to keep Toonami running. I just hope VIZ gives them InuYasha the Final Act… not into Neon Alley, sorry. I want real TV lol.
I suspect they would show The Final Act since they do have the rights to Inuyasha.Speaking of which

does anyone know why Moneca Stori is no longer doing Kagome?I read at the Sailor Moon Forum yesterday that someone else was doing the part in the dub and from what I gathered Moneca Stori moved away

or something. Not sure.Though am happy that the original Japanese main cast reprised their roles for

      The Final Act. 😎 :D

Totally unexpected. Naruto returns to Toonami uncut on Dec. 1st. Not sure how I feel about this, but at the very least it should bring in decent ratings.

I don’t think you should be surprised in the least, Naruto is a license to print money, if you put it on, you can bet it’ll bring ratings, though if Naruto is here, I wouldn’t expect One Piece to be far off.

The whole Idea of a movie night is cool because you could throw in some original things that aren’t tied to a series, but this also tells me if Naruto is coming, that those nights are going to be completely saturated with Bleach’s, Naruto’s and One Pieces movies (Because lets be real here, it’s coming, eventually, lol)

I suppose that’s the original and not Shippuden.Does Disney still hold the rights to Shippuden?

Nothing replacing it, all the other premieres are just getting moved up half an hour. Thundercats is now in GXP’s spot.

I wonder if they would ever pick up Blassreiter or Ikki-tousen.I think the second would have to be edited a bit if they did, especially after episode 8.Blassreiter would be a good fit for those watching some really

      intelligent action.

That’s a bit of good new right there! From what little exposure I have to the larger anime community I know that Soul Eater is a pretty big show with lots of fans. This should certainly bring in more viewers for Toonami! I can’t say I like the show itself from what little I’ve seen of it, but my brother raves about it (which could mean anything lol).

Now this is actually exciting, I think EVA can do some good for Toonami, I’m sure 2.22 is probably planned somewhere as well.

I’m not sure when Soul Eater was announced but that was a show MADE for Toonami.

Heres a rundown of all the announcements, including afew new tidbits from the Toonami Tumblr.

ONE ANNOUNCEMENT TO RULE THEM ALL

…And in the darkness, BIND THEM.

Hey guys! Below is the basic list of stuff we announced at Momocon.

      1. In April (date tbd), we will premiere TOM 5, a new Absolution, and a new look for Toonami, including a new logo. Some of that stuff isn’t ready yet, so keep checking this blog and we’ll put up new stuff as we finish it. And no, still no Sara or Clydes… yet.

      2. In the next couple of months we will premiere an online comic that will tell the story of How TOM 3 became TOM 4, how TOM 4 became TOM 3.5, where Sara and the Clydes are, and how we got TOM 5 and the new Absolution. We’ll offer more details on that when we have them.

      3. Toonami will air One Piece this year. We’re not sure yet it if will replace Tenchi GXP or come in later, and we’re not sure where we will start in the episode order. We’ll let you know more in the coming months.

      4. Next week, on Toonami’s birthday, we will be showing Evangelion 1.11 You Are [Not] Alone. The following week our schedule will return to normal (sorry, Soul Eater/Eureka/Sym-Bionic fans!). Schedule is posted below, scroll down to see it.

      5. We were not able to make a promo for the Eva movie for various reasons, but that’s okay, we promise! It’s just a birthday present, not part of a larger series of “movie nights.” We’re still exploring that.

      6. There will be a few other goodies airing on our birthday, so don’t miss it! And no… NO HINTS. You gotta watch! :)

      7. We are still exploring short series to air, short series fans, so we’ll let you know if and when we have announcements in that area!

      8. Video of the Toonami Momocon panel, as well as some interviews, were shot by the Toonami Faithful crew and will be up soon!

      9. Thanks to Chad Bonin for inviting us to the panel, moderating and being a cool dude.

      10. We love you!

I’ll be looking forward to that comic and Toonami’s new look. Too bad theres no promo for Eva, it was apparently a last-minute aquisation to do something special for Toonami’s birthday.

Thanks for the info WisperG! I’m very pleased with the momentum Toonami is gaining for itself. If you had asked me a year ago, I’d have told you Toonami was never coming back, and now here we are. It’s not there yet, but I have more hope now than I have at any point so far. I suppose it’s a shame that GXP is being pulled, but I’m sure Tenchi will keep on chugging along until we get our own long awaited revival. Now I can’t wait to watch EVA on tv!
      WisperG

I think you misunderstood. They’re not pulling GXP (well, except for movie night next week but Soul Eater, T-Cats, Titan, and Eureka are in the same boat), they meant when it was over, they’re not sure yet if they’ll have One Piece replace it or if they’ll wait and put OP on later in the year. Either way, GXP will finish its run.

Sorry for the confusion. I didn’t think it was being pulled before its run. I should have said “I suppose its a shame that GXP is being pulled after only one run.” Carry on. 😳
As far as the One Piece announcement,it does sound a bit ambiguous as to how they meant it.So you can see why Chuck was so confused,I thought they were replacing GXP with One Piece as well.

Now as far as the EVA movie goes,I happen to have both 1.11 and 2.0 in my collection and have already seen 1.11.Chuck and anyone else who hasn’t seen it,you’re going to enjoy it.And for Shinji haters out there:

Heres the official panel video from ToonamiFaithful.com.

Something of interest to us Tenchi fans is that someone asked (at around 14:38) why they didn’t air any of the Tenchi movies. The Toonami crew had taken a look at them, but Cartoon Network was concerned about diminishing ratings. Muyo was a pleasant surprise for the network ratings-wise, but Universe got slightly lower numbers than the original OVAs, and Tokyo got slightly lower numbers than Universe. At that point, CN decided to move on from Tenchi. The Toonami crew didn’t really have any say in the matter.

But they did like the movies, and are leaving the door open on the possibility of showing them on Adult Swims Toonami at some point.

Wow, thanks for the link Wisper! I would LOVE if Toonami would correct the mistake it made all those years ago in not running the movies. Seriously, so many people were, and continue to be, in the dark about what is literally a whole branch of the franchise because they only saw what aired on Toonami back in the day. Especially the first movie, which I think fits the feel of Toonami extremely well. Oh well, at this point I’m willing to have hope in just about any positive development on the Toonami front, after all look how far they’ve come in less than a year!
That is true.I think very few people would have thought we’d be at the point we are now that Toonami

is even into a second season. That fact should show that there are plenty of die-hard anime fans out there willing to stay up late for their weekly fix.

Too bad about the ratings dropping off after the original Tenchi OVAs though.

I wonder if that has something to do with the fact that Tit hasn’t been the most popular of the Tenchi titles and the same with GXP.Though I wonder why Universe had such low ratings.I thought it was the most popular next to the original OVAs.

I still have mixed feelings about this. On the one hand, it’s what I wanted for a very long time. On the other, well… of course it’s never going to be the same. I’ve grown up and my interests have changed. I tune in sporadically and keep up the news, but I have yet to – nor do I see myself – tuning in on a regular basis.
I was lurking around The Sailor Moon Forum yesterday and they had a discussion going around about wheter or not the new series might end up on Toonami. The majority opinion was that it would be unlikely because of Sailor Moon being the wrong demographic.

The only way I think I would ever watch Toonami again would be if they aired Inuyasha:The Final act

uncut, uncensored and subbed.Which is highly unlikely.

      WisperG
      Member
That Sailor Moon discussion was probably started from comments at last weeks Momocon panel where the Toonami staff said they would consider the new show, if/when it gets licensed.

Inuyasha TFA might be able to evade the censors, as long as it doesn’t have any nudity. But subs on Adult Swim? Never gonna happen.

1.If I remember right that is indeed where the conversation at the Sailor Moon Forum got started about

the new series getting on Toonami, though as I said the majority seemed to feel it was unlikely since it’s

directed more toward a female audience and Toonami currently is aiming for the male 15-30 year old

      audience.

2.As far as nudity in Inuyasha goes,it’s a bit more graphic in the manga then the anime.

3.Yeah,I know they wouldn’t be interested in showing subs as they aren’t Anime Network.Still one can

      only dream. 😆

      BIG NEWS:

      Quote:

      APRIL 27TH.

Why should you care about April 27th? Two reasons:

      1. On April 27th, Toonami will relaunch with a new TOM, a new Absolution, and a new on-air look. We’ll share more details our new look as we get closer to that date!

      2. IGPX IS COMING BACK!!

No, really. Thanks to our incredibly generous partners, thanks to a lot of folks doing a lot of paperwork, and thanks to the very unique and complex structure of the IGPX production deal, we were able to bring the show out of retirement so you guys can see it again, or for the first time!

Couple points: We will be very slightly shuffling the lineup to fit IGPX. We’ll announce that exact schedule closer to the 27th. It will most likely involve removing one episode of Bebop, taking us to a half hour weekly. Also, for those Megas XLR fans out there wondering if this means we can bring back Megas…. we can’t, sorry. Simply put, it’s a very different animal, and the exact elements that made IGPX’s return possible are not in place for Megas.

ANYWAY! We’re very excited to re-air, for the first time, Toonami’s only original series, and one we’re very proud of! We hope you guys enjoy it.

Watch this space in the coming month for more details about TOM 5, The new Absolution, the Toonami comic, the lineup for April 27th, and when One Piece is finally coming!

      WE WILL NEVER STOP

      Love, the Toonami crew.

This is such a big deal because it was once thought impossible for IGPX to ever air again. The reason being was that the series underperformed during its initial run and was used as a tax write-off by the network to try and recoup some money, but this required permanently forfeiting all broadcast rights (Megas XLR, another CN show, is in the same boat). But they pulled off the impossible and found a way to bring it back.

I’m super-excited about this, and coincidentally I just bought the Season 1 DVD boxset last week. This is a great show, its tons of fun, and I highly recommend it. Also: Animation from Production I.G. Nuff said.

I think you misunderstood. They’re just going to show it again, they’re not making more IGPX, it already has two 13-episode seasons (and the original 5-part micro series). It hasn’t been on the air in years because CN gave up the broadcast rights, which I explained in part of my previous post 😉

IGPX returns next week alongside TOM 5! Heres the new promo:

Personally I prefer the old promo from the show’s original run. This one, while good, only shows the racing. The old one had a better mix of both racing and non-racing clips. I posted that one on Page 12 if anyone wants to compare the two.

Also, Bebop trended at #1 in the US on Twitter last weekend. No Toonami show has made it that high before. The fact that both parts of the excellent 2-part finale aired back-to-back probably helped. Oh, and GXP made it to #2 at one point. Yay! :D

Wow, this Saturday will be absolutely packed with new content.

As if a new TOM, a new Absolution, and the return of IGPX wasn’t enough, there will also be a new game review, as well as two other surprises.

April 27th means A new TOM, a new Absolution, and the resurrection of IGPX @2am! We’ve also got a new game review, a special goodie from one of our friends (that’s all the hints you get), AND another special surprise. Tune in at the beginning of the night, and keep ooooon watching!

I’m not even sure they have the money to get the license! VIZ has been holding onto it and airing it on their service Neon Alley.

Certainly could be announced at SakuraCon around the corner in march…

Wow, talk about getting a polarizing show.

I… have very mixed feelings about this. If Toonami’s airing it, I’ll be watching, but probably not with much enthusiasm.

SAO started great and had a very interesting premise, but quickly falls into overused anime cliches. I’ll be honest, I ended up dropping the show. The first half is fine, but from what I’ve heard of the second half things really went down the drain…

[spoil]…like the multi-episode tentacle molestation of the female lead. Sigh… 🙄[/spoil]

Now having said that, I won’t deny its popularity and it will be a dub premiere, so I hope it succeeds regardless of my personal feelings towards the show.

      jgzinv
      Member
Well not that I’m defending it, the second half is worse true enough, but she doesn’t actually get tentacle raped. She’s just held up in the air and dragged back to her cage/prison because she broke out. At nearly the end, the main villain does pretty much go through raping her while he’s got Kirito pinned down to watch.

The resolution to that part and Kirito’s comeback (subsequently killing the filth virtually) is quite a WTF how did that happen moment that’s somewhat hard to rationalize as not being a cop out.

“Besides that” – the main thing people hate about the second arc is the sister-love problem and that Asuna who was depicted as a strong female archetype, got reduced down to a pretty much “bird in a cage rescue the helpless maiden” setup. The author tried to recover some of this in one of the later novels, but she’s never really gone back to her sub commander personality unfortunately.

Now that I’m back from my trip, and have better internet access, I think this thread is LONG overdue for an update.

Man…. there is so much awesome in this I don’t know where to begin! I’ll start with my beloved EVA. I absolutely LOVE EVA 2.22! It perfectly achieves excellence as both a movie, and as an EVA outing (psychology, intrigue, and a good old fashioned dose of mindfuck!). I think it will fit very well on toonami, as did the airing of EVA 1.11. I eagerly await its airing :)

I also really found the Clone Wars series to be a worthwhile outing in the otherwise unglamorous prequel universe. It was suspenseful, funny, and intriguing. In short, everything we’ve come to expect from quality Star Wars. I also think this show will fit very well with the Toonami mold. It has an almost “anime-esque” plot and character development that lends itself to being shown along side anime. I hope it gains a wider following at this later time. Good times indeed for toonami. I continue to be impressed with the shows they are picking up. Now if only I could actually stay up late to watch them all…

Can’t wait to see how awesome their promo for it turns out. The one for the first movie was excellent.

Pretty excited about Star Wars too. I didn’t watch it much while it was on CN but I really liked what little I saw of it. Its good to have another opportunity to watch it.

I wonder if they’ll bring back the tv series if the rebuild movies do good.

I suppose its possible, after it gets relicensed. But that can’t happen for awhile because theres a licensor mandated lock on the license to NGE and the 2 old movies until all 4 of the new movies are out.

However, I’ve heard it flopped pretty hard in the ratings last time it was on AS. So its also possible that they may not even want it back.

      Lineup changes incoming!

IGPX gets doubled-up for a night to end 1 week earlier (same night as Bebop and Big O). FLCL takes 2:30 where IGPX was. IGPX then gets a rerun replacing Bebop, FMA gets bumped up to replace Big O, and GITS takes FMA’s old spot.

Also, a new on-air segment where TOM answers fan questions!

Ask us some good questions, because we’ll be picking a couple of them for TOM to answer himself in a new on-air segment premiering very soon!

A few highlights from this month’s Toonami Tumblr Q&A:

      – Cowboy Bebop is leaving the lineup because they’re losing the rights. But they’re confident it’ll come back eventually, and when it does it will be the HD Bluray remaster.

      – FLCL will only be getting one run for now. They’re also trying to get the HD masters for the show.

(So that means it is just a placeholder for… something. What, exactly, remains to be seen. We’ll have to wait until the end of November to find out.)

      – The ratings for the 2nd Season of The Big O were not lackluster. They just wanted to give it a break.

      – Current most requested shows: Attack on Titan, Fairy Tail, Dragon Ball Z, Naruto Shippuden, and Toriko.

(No surprises here except for Toriko. I didn’t think it was all that popular, but it’d be interesting to see a show like that on the block.)

      – Expansion into the earlier hours of Saturday is possible if ratings stay high.

      – Remember that Toonami comic that was announced a while back to give TOM5 a backstory? They’ve finally finished writing it, now they just need to find someone to draw it.

      – FLCL will be getting its own promo. Can they top Adult Swim’s excellent original promo?

      – For those who don’t know, AS and CN both have live webstreams now (on their respective websites). The Toonami crew confirmed that watching the stream DOES count towards the ratings.

      – They’re looking into both Attack on Titan (surprise, surprise 🙄 ) and GITS: Arise ( :D )

      – They’re willing to air hour-long shows and odd-length OVAs.

(This opens up the possibility of both Geminar and the Tenchi OVAs showing up at some point :D )

      – There *might* be another movie night before the end of the year 😎

      – They never had any plans for a 3rd Season of IGPX. It was always intended to end within 2 Seasons.

      – The Toonami crew is still doing all of this FOR FREE in their spare time. These folks deserve a pat on the back. Seriously. Thats some serious dedication.

Fantastic update! Sounds like they’re really trying to do Toonami up proper, even in a time when television has taken a beating from the easy-accessibility of the internet (legal or otherwise).

On that note, now that I definitively know the streams (which is a good idea on AS/CN’s part) count towards views, I’ll try to rack up my share to show my support.

Those guys definitely do deserve a pat on the back for a job well done, especially for no pay!

Sounds like they are open to the idea of getting in touch with there roots again which is a good thing in my opinion. I think I can speak for everyone here when I say that if they brought back some of the shows from the old lineup like DBZ and Tenchi they would definitely get the support of some of the older Toonami faithful back. If they do decide to air Tenchi it will make it all the more relevant again which is always a good thing as it further aids Tenchiforum’s goal.

      Surprise Q&A continuation!

They apparently ended the Q&A early yesterday because they hit the Tumblr posting limit 😆 . So they answered a few more this morning.

Not much of note was answered but here’s a few interesting ones, especially that second one. A new TIE perhaps? 😉 . Either way, new footage of TOM, Sara, and the Absolution is always a good thing. That bit about Splinter Cell and IGPX music is some interesting trivia as well. Had no idea they used some of the same music.

      Quote:

      – So is the Q&A over with? You guys haven’t answered a question since 11:30.

Sorry, evidently Tumblr has a new 225 post per 12 hour limit!

      – When you have the money for these type of thing, will you make a short of TOM fighting off other ships or him landing in a new planets, etc?

We certainly will! We have a few things we’re working on…

      – I asked this before (should of waited for stuff like this) but are you going to repeat any movies from movie night?

Movies won’t be repeated any time in the immediate future.

      – Tom, do you ever wonder if your existence(what you say and do) is not in your control, but in the control of some animators at a studio in Atlanta?

TOM: That’s just crazy. That doesn’t even make any sense! Hahahahahaha.

      – First off thanks for coming back! You guys finally gave me something to look forward to every weekend! Especially with SAO and One Piece! One question I’ve always had with IGPX, the soundtrack for that is the same as the game Splinter Cell Chaos theory right?! I’ve literally hear the same songs in both!

IGPX uses music from the label “NInja Tune,” and the Splinter Cell soundtrack is by the artist Amon Tobin, and was put out on that label. So yes, some of the same songs are in each!

      – Can you tell us the story behind the Dropship review from back in the day? Who played it, how did you find out about it, why did you decide to review it… And did you ever get past the sixth level?

That was written out of Jason’s frustration with the game. He decided it might be fun if TOM himself couldn’t finish the game either. And no, he never beat it!

      – How are you guys going to handle the One Piece episodes without ending songs?

If it’s plot related we’ll try to make sure nothing gets cut and we just go over time. We’ll deal with them on a case by case basis.

Well I think they were saying that more towards “Toonami”

Honestly I was actually surprised that it was a good promo (It’s hard to fail when you have pillows music to use) but I personally think the subtlety of the original is what made it one of the best promo’s adult swim ever did, It’s kind of like the ending to Blade Runner, it’s the version that WASN’t narrated that was so good because it didn’t need it.

And I’ve always said that if you “didn’t understand” FLCL, you weren’t paying attention, lol

Oh, and related to the Space Dandy news- we’re getting bigger!

      Quote:

Hey everybody! Just wanted to drop you all a line and announce a couple pieces of Toonami news.

First, we are proud to announce that Toonami will be WORLD PREMIERING the new series from Shinichiro Watanabe (Cowboy Bebop, Samurai Champloo) and Studio BONES (FMA, Soul Eater, many more), SPACE DANDY! SPACE DANDY is a 26 episode series that will be premiering in the U.S. BEFORE it premieres in Japan (yep, you read that right)! Details on that to follow soon.

Oh, and when will it premiere? Sooner than you think- January 4th, at 11:30 PM.

      “Did I just read 11:30?”

Yep, you read that right. Space Dandy will kick off an expanded 6-1/2 HOUR TOONAMI broadcast every Saturday. Toonami Faithful, we got our extra half hour!

Oh, you’re STILL not satisfied? Fine. We have some other great news that will be coming in the next few weeks, but until then we’ll drop one more little tidbit: In December, Toonami will take a break from our regular schedule and have a bit of holiday fun, with three weeks in a row of a movie special to kick off the block! What movies, you ask? Well, you’ll have to wait a bit on that. :)

Finally- if you have more questions about all this, GOOD- ask them here! We’ll be doing our monthly Toonami Q&A this Sunday from 11am et, to whenever we hit the tumblr post limit! Remember, your question could end up on our monthly on-air Tumblr Q&A session with Tom and Sara.

WHEW- okay. Keep your eyes locked right here over the next few weeks for more details on all of this, as well as some other VERY exciting developments we can’t talk about yet. And in the mean time, do make sure you check us out on November 2nd, when we’ll be airing some fun little surprises in the daylight savings hour (2am)!

Wow, not only are they airing Space Dandy dubbed BEFORE the JP broadcast, but Toonami is also expanding by a half-hour, they’re doing three weeks of movies in December, and on top of that they’re also doing something special for that extra DST hour in November.

      I’M SO EXCITED! AND I JUST CAN’T HIDE IT! bth_iamhappykaboomplz bth_ultimatehighplz bth_rainbowsheep2 imcryingsomuchplz

*Ahem* Now that I’ve composed myself, anyone care to speculate what they might air for those movie nights? With three weeks there’s a lot of potential choices. The entire Berserk trilogy? Eva 3.0? Akira? Redline?

Or perhaps Tenchi Muyo in Love? 😉

First off. HOLYASDFJKLADJDKJAODFA THAT IS AWESOME :D!

Second, I must say I would particularly speculate Akira; A: because it is one of my favorite anime movies, and B: A lot of toonami watchers would probably enjoy it immensely.

Tenchi Muyo in Love deserves to be broadcast as well, it played on Sci-Fi, why not Toonami?

I think Akira would be a good choice for that as the 25th anniversary Funi blu-ray/DVD will be coming out on November 12th (I imagine they would air the Pioneer dub over the Streamline, one both for quality and for more known contemporary cast)

Eva 3.33 is probably a no brainer, but it won’t be coming out till next year so it’ll show up on Toonami soon after I imagine.

I’d like to see them make an effort at airing the Tenchi movies considering how well they’ve sold, but we’ll see. I think Tenchi the Movie / Tenchi Muyo In Love would probably be the prime candidate.

-When Big O eventually returns they would like to start with Season 1. And who just licensed Big O? Sentai Filmworks. This show could be the one that pushes them to form a partnership with Sentai 😉

      – They want to air more non-Japanese cartoons. There’s just not a lot of action cartoons being made these days, so the pickings are quite slim.

      – In regards to filler (the question specifically referred to Naruto’s extended filler arc), they could skip whatever they wanted to (as in, they’re not contractually obligated or anything like that to air every episode), but they won’t be. Just because episodes may have original content created specifically for the TV show that was not in the original source material doesn’t mean those episodes don’t deserve to air (FYI that last sentence was my words, not their’s, but that’s what I think they were getting at).

“Anything Gundam-related is up in the air right now.” Not too surprising since none of it is currently licensed, except kinda-sorta Unicorn, which is really just a distribution deal and not a proper license.

      – DBZ and Naruto and “virtually tied” as the highest rated shows ever on Toonami. No surprises there, although I’d bet that Gundam Wing was probably not far behind.

      – They like all the characters from Evangelion, but Rei is probably their favorite (or at least the favorite of whoever ended up answering that question 😆 )

They’ve hinted that another Toonami mixtape and *possibly* the return of the Clydes could be coming :D . But as for when is anyone’s guess.

      – How they decide what questions get answered on the air:

“It’s based on what we think the best questions might be for the general public, i.e. some of the millions of people watching who AREN’T familiar with this tumblr but might want the answer to certain questions. If your question is smart, polite, and something we might think a broader audience would find interesting, it has a shot!”

Toonami had quite the odd lineup for the extra DST hour last night.

They aired King Star King (a pilot for an upcoming AS show) followed by Korgoth of Barbaria (one of AS’s best pilots BTW 😉, which was sadly never picked up for a full series) and a repeat airing of Production IG’s Kick-Heart (which previously aired after Eva 2.22 during the last movie night).

      12:00AM – Bleach

      12:30AM – Naruto (Uncut)

      1:00AM – One Piece

      1:30AM – Soul Eater

      2:00AM – Sword Art Online

      2:30AM – FLCL

      2:00AM – King Star King

      2:15AM – Korgoth of Barbaria

      2:45AM – Kick-Heart

3:15AM – Star Wars: The Clone Wars

      3:30AM – Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood

4:00AM – Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex

      4:30AM – IGPX

      5:00AM – Inuyasha

      5:30AM – Inuyasha

EDIT: Here’s the on-air bumps if anyone’s interested.

Toonami just posted on their tumblr that Naruto will be leaving Toonami on November 30th. However, in January, on the same night that Space Dandy airs, Naruto Shippūden will begin to air along with it (the date is still tbd). It will run uncut just as the current Naruto is right now.

Wow, that’s some big ol’ news ain’t it? Its a good move for the block, but I’m honestly a little disappointed. I was watching Naruto and they’ll now be dropping it in the middle of a major arc so, like One Piece, I’m going to have to cram in 150+ episodes to get caught up…

      isawitplz

I really would’ve preferred they finish off their run of the original Naruto (assuming they willingly dropped it), even if they would’ve had to kick it to a super-late slot.

Anyways, here’s the original Tumblr post for reference:

      Quote:

      ANOTHER BIG HONKIN’ TOONAMI ANNOUNCEMENT:

Hey guys! It’s only been a week or two since we announced the happy news that we’ll be world premiering SPACE DANDY on Toonami in January, but we’ve got more big news we’ve been dying to communicate to you.

First, some bad news: Naruto will be leaving Toonami on November 30th. Don’t worry, it’s out there streaming in several places if you want to continue the story (and we think you should).

But the GOOD news is, NARUTO SHIPPUDEN is finally coming home to Toonami in January, premiering the same night as Space Dandy (final date tbd)!

And yes, it will be uncut. And glorious.

There’s more news coming down the pike, but for now, enjoy your regular Naruto eps and prepare to get caught up, because SHIPPUDEN. IS. COMING.

We’re excited! Hope you are too.

Here’s an interesting piece of info, straight from Jason DeMarco himself:

      Quote:

Will Space Dandy be “Co-produced by Cartoon Network/Adult Swim” like The Big O, or will it be considered a Toonami original like IGPX, since it airs here first? Or neither?

It’s more like GITS. We are co-funding but not actively producing it.

So they are throwing some money Bones’ way, meaning they’ll have perpetual rights to it like GITS even though they don’t actually have a hand in production.

      WisperG
      Member
Another interesting response from DeMarco. The wording is a bit vague, but it appears AS may have helped co-fund Kick-Heart much in the same way they did with Space Dandy and GITS. Whether this means they have perpetual broadcast rights to it and plan to continue showing it from time-to-time remains to be seen.

      Quote:

Didn’t know you helped fund Kick-Heart. Personally or did Adult Swim do it? If the latter, was it through a special deal or did they do it through KickStarter like everyone else?

It was an agreement between AS and Production IG. Way before the Kickstarter.

In some not-specifically-Toonami related news, Regular Show and Adventure Time are now listed on AS’s schedule at 9PM starting Monday, November 11th. I find it very unlikely that AS will be showing RS and AT as part of its lineup, meaning Cartoon Network may be encroaching on AS’s airtime by an hour and that slot simply hasn’t been removed from AS.com’s schedule yet.

EDIT: Seems the time change is only temporary through the new year. Everything goes back to normal afterwards. Cartoon Network even made a promo for this “Gift Time” as they’re calling it.

      TOONAMI DECEMBER MOVIES ANNOUNCEMENT:

Hey #toonami faithful! We’re back with some more good news. This December, Toonami will have a whole MONTH of movies to ring in the holidays! We’ll release the full air schedule soon, but for now, here are the GREAT movies we’ll be airing:

12/7- AKIRA– Yup. The most influential anime film of all time is coming to Toonami and kicking off a month of movies. That promo will be something to see, we’re tellin’ ya. By the way, the 25th anniversary remastered Blu-Ray was just released by our friends at Funimation, and man. It’s gorgeous.

12/14- SUMMER WARS– directed by Mamoru Hosoda, this modern classic is something we’ve had our eye on for a while. We think you’ll love it!

12/21- FULL METAL ALCHEMIST- THE CONQUEROR OF SHAMBALLA– FMA fans know how great this gem is. And so do we. Produced by Bones, the same studio who will be bringing you SPACE DANDY in January!

12/28- TRIGUN: BADLAND RUMBLE– Trigun[ is back where he belongs on Adult Swim, in a special one off adventure.

And that’s not all! We’ll also be doing a TOONAMI T-SHIRT GIVEAWAY for the whole month of December, AND you might see some interesting things happening with TOM and the Absolution!

Okay that’s all… for THIS week! Like we said, more details to come, and we hope you’re as excited about this holiday season as we are!

      xoxoxoxo

      Love, the Toonami crew.

I look forward to FINALLY watching Akira for the first time.

The Trigun movie is a fun, one-off adventure thats easily enjoyable even if you haven’t seen the show.

Summer Wars is surprising, since its really more of a drama than an action film. Its not something I ever thought I’d see in a late-night slot on Adult Swim, but its awesome that they’re showing it none-the-less.

The only one I’m iffy about is FMA: Shamballa. For one thing, its not all that great. It also makes ZERO sense if you haven’t seen the end of the older FMA series. All the casual FMA:B viewers will be incredibly confused.

But…but…there’s a Fritz Lang “cameo”! lol but seriously I’m on the same page with you on all of the above. Shamballa will likely throw FMA(B) casuals, but at least the animation was good and the ending not what you’d expect.

No NISA title will ever make it to Toonami because they are all sub-only, no matter how good the series is, no US network, let alone a block as small as Toonami, would ever take the chance on a sub only title

(Which makes me sad too, because I think Natsume’s Book of Friends would be a great replacement for Inuyasha feel-wise)

that’s the thing funi still has rights to Hellsing and if they’re giving Akira to Toonami, I don’t know why they wouldn’t let Toonami show hellsing

      WisperG
      Member
I doubt its that they wouldn’t let them have it if they wanted it. Toonami picks what they want to air, they may think Hellsing is too old to bother with (its also not very good, aside from the first few eps). It (and Ultimate) may also be too expensive. Prices tend to be determined predominately by popularity (although age does play a part too). Outlaw Star, for example, has been stated to be too much for them to afford despite being 15 years old simply because its really, really popular.

With Hellsing Ultimate there’s several factors against it. One of which is run time. Being an OVA series, the run time tends to fluctuate between 45 up to 70 minutes (for the last ep). That’s tough to squeeze into the schedule, as it would take up two slots normally with the last episode basically needing to be treated like a movie (as it would run about 1.5 hours with commercials).

It would also need to be censored somewhat. Its not like Akira is airing uncut either, but they do try to get away with as few edits as possible.

But probably the biggest factor right now is the fact that its not completely licensed. FUNi currently only has the first 8 episodes. They wouldn’t want to air an incomplete show and then wait months and months before they can show the last 2 eps.

They’ve said they’d be open to airing OVA series in the future, but they would need to wait for the right time to do it. I don’t think we’ll ever see the older Hellsing on Toonami, but Ultimate is a possibility once its fully licensed.

^ You’re probably over-thinking it lol. Its on Adult Swim for one thing, and its airing after midnight. I don’t think content will be an issue for anyone.

There will, of course, be some censorship but they’ve said they’re trying to make as few edits as possible. The TV-MA-LV rating in the promo suggests that most of the violence will remain intact.

Alright, we’ve 2 big pieces of Toonami news this week.

First, a new mix-tape featuring IGPX music! And they’re letting users submit cover art, with the winner receiving one of those awesome t-shirts!

      Quote:

      IGPX: THE ICHI MEGAMIX.

      Hello Toonami Faithful!

Last year, our little Xmas gift to you all was our SUPERNOVA MEGAMIX, which a bunch of you enjoyed/downloaded. THIS year, we’ve been inundated with requests for an IGPX megamix. For those of you who’ve been asking, good news! SKULL ISLAND (DJ Clarknova and Brent Busby) are making you a special 70 (or so) minute megamix of our favorite IGPX tracks, along with outtakes, quotes from the show and some appearances froM TOM and Sara. We’ll put it up for a free download right here on this tumblr on Xmas day.

The reason we’re telling you guys about it NOW, is because we want YOU to make a cover for it! From now through Dec 22nd, feel free to send your designs for the cover of THE ICHI MEGAMIX to this tumblr! The winner will get one of those sweet T-shirts we’re giving away all month, and our undying gratitude.

See you on Race Day! (or Xmas, heh)

      Love, The Toonami Crew.

Second, Space Dandy and Naruto Shippuden are coming January 4th, alongside a new lineup!

      Quote:

January 4th, 2014 – A day that will be long remembered.

11:30p – Space Dandy World Premiere!!!

12:30a – Shippuden premieres on Toonami!!!

Toonami is proud to officially announce that Space Dandy will have its world premiere on January 4th, 11:30p, followed by a premiere episode of Bleach at midnight, and then the Toonami premiere of Naruto Shippuden.

Yes, that means that Space Dandy is premiering on Toonami before anywhere else in the world!

Yes, that’s 30 minutes earlier than ever before!

      Yes, we are very excited!!!

Just think, now you can say you heard the dub before you saw the sub!

Prepare for the 6½ hour challenge.

Check out funimation.com for cast info and more details.

      Full Jan 4th Lineup

      11:30p – Space Dandy

      12:00a – Bleach

      12:30a – Naruto: Shippuden

      1:00a – One Piece

      1:30a – Soul Eater

      2:00a – Sword Art Online

      2:30a – FLCL

3:00a – Uncut Naruto – Starting over at ep 1!

      3:30a – Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood

4:00a – Ghost in the Shell: SAC

      4:30a – IGPX

5:00a – Star Wars Clone Wars

      5:30a – Inuyasha

The anomaly here is that the original Naruto will be starting over at a later time rather than being removed from the lineup as previously announced. This was addressed by DeMarco on twitter. Apparently, Viz was generous and let them extend their deal for the episodes they’ve already aired.

      Quote:

“Toonami fans, so I’m not doing this all day: we were allowed by partners to extend our ORIGINAL Naruto deal (52 eps) for a second run.

Continuing from where we left off would have been prohibitively expensive. Basically, it was get Shuppuden/re-run Naruto or continue…

…with new Naruto eps, but NO Shippuden. The choice was clear. That’s the first and last time I’ll deal with that here so please do not ask.

IN SHORT: You can’t have it all, and neither can we. But I certainly think 3 solid hours of premieres is a good way to kick off the year.

So did they get the rights for Shippuden from Disney or did Disney simply let them lapse? I remember

watching it when it was on Toon Disney/Disney XD back in the day when it first came out, which is why I

      ask.

      WisperG

Viz is the license holder. Toonami acquired the show from Viz, but they had to wait until Disney’s contract lapsed. That’s why Toonami picked up the original Naruto, to bide their time until Shippuden became available.

OK, lots of video’s from last night’s Toonami broadcast!

First up, their Summer Wars promo aired during Akira!

Next, they brought back Toonami’s “In-flight Movie!” Those of us here that watched Toonami in the old days may remember this, but for those that didn’t, basically whenever Toonami showed movies The Absolution would make a hyperspace jump and TOM and Sara would proceed with the broadcast from inside the wormhole/hyperspace tunnel/whatever you call it.

I just started re-watching FLCL yesterday so will be near finished when Toonami gets around to airing it on their block on January 4.

This is one show that if you haven’t seen it yet you really ought to since it is hilariously whacked out in an

Excel Saga kinda way.Plus Ride On Shooting Star is one of the best end themes in all of anime

next to The Real Folk Blues from Cowboy Bebop.

^ FLCL actually just finished its first run on the last weekend of November. Next Saturday it starts its second (and for now, final) run.

But it was just revealed what will be replacing it earlier today during ToonamiFaithful.com’s podcast interview with Jason DeMarco (skip to about 1:48:30 for the announcement):

The November 30th Tumblr Q&A was two weeks ago, and I totally forgot to post about it! Although there wasn’t much of note this time around.

Thanks to ThisGman at Adult Swim’s official Toonami Boards for compiling most of this list (with some slight edits and inclusions by me).

      – Current top 5 requested shows:

      1. Attack on Titan

      2. DBZ

      3. Kill La Kill

      4. Fairy Tail

      5. Gundam

KLK gets bumped up to #3 and Gundam snags the #5 spot from Toriko.

      – Brotherhood “will be sticking around for awhile”, but may not be rerun immediately.

      – They’re considering having live Toonami tweets scroll across the bottom of the screen, but it’s not something they’ve been able to work out yet.

      – They decided to air FMA: Conqueror of Shamballa instead of Sacred Star of Milos because they simply liked the older movie better.

      – The process for making Toonami content (reviews, promos, etc.):

“We’ll plan it out a few weeks in advance (ideally) someone will write a script. We’ll start the edit. Read Steve and Dana, finish the edit, mix it, and turn it in.”

      – Back in the CN days, MAR was pulled due to low ratings.

      – I thought this question was significant, so I opted to post it in full instead of summarizing the answer.

      Quote:

Q: Will toonami ever bring back its original list of shows like the original Sailor Moon, Outlaw Star, or Tenchi Muyo?

A: Probably not, sorry. Toonami is about moving forward. We love all of those shows and who knows, we may show them again, but we’re more interested in introducing new things. And ratings have proven that’s the right approach for us, generally!

So basically, classic shows aren’t necessarily out of the question but they’re not very likely to happen.

And last, but not least we got an unusually short promo for Fullmetal Alchemist: The Conqueror of Shamballa.

      [BBvideo 525,350]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aRgUJNJAviI[/BBvideo]

Which particuliar Gundamor is it just Gundam in general that people are asking for?

Fairy Tale is the one I’d be most interested in seeing.Though I think I would rather buy the movie and a couple volumes of the series.

DBZ seems to be pretty much a default title for people who can’t come up with anything else or else

there are a lot of diehard fans out there who really want to see it again.

Toonami’s success can’t really be chalked up to a single movie. Eva 2.22 did well, but it didn’t get earth-shattering numbers or anything. As the Toonami crew have stated many times, Toonami has been doing fine since it returned. Its currently in no danger of being cancelled.

Well what I read seemed to have suggested otherwise.

    Toonami Returns To MomoCon

In the distant year 1997, one block was the hope for all mankind: Toonami launched, and redefined action-animation for America.

In 2013, the “Toonami Six” and Steve Blum (voice of TOM) made their first public group appearance at MomoCon. I was glad to host them, and with the help of the Toonami Faithful Podcast crew, we had an amazingly fun time.

It’s a new year. Black Lagoon and Blue Exorcist are on the horizon, and Naruto Shippuden, Bleach, One Piece, and Star Wars: Clone Wars are continuing to make Toonami premiere episodes. Space Dandy is making its world premiere on the block!

Seems about time to officially announce the return of the Toonami crew to Momocon! Much like last year, I’ll be your host with the Toonami Faithful Podcast. I’m sure we’ll collect questions from the people unable to make it, and I’d wager that Jason DeMarco has some news to drop there as well. We might not have Steve Blum, but we may just have another voice from the Absolution on hand.

So, give it some time, let it set in, let us figure out some specifics, and join us May 23-25 in Atlanta.

Black Lagoon was mentioned on the previous page. They didn’t specify how much of it they’re going to air, but I think its pretty safe to assume they’ll head straight into The Second Barrage after the first season. Its Roberta’s Blood Trail that’s up in the air, since its an OVA series and its episodes run longer than 30 minutes.

Blue Exorcist was announced and mentioned here back in November, but you bringing it up again reminds me that they moved the date up to February 22nd instead of March.

Here’s a snippet from Aniplex of America’s press release:

I kinda liked the music used in the Eng Open/Close but the Japanese ones were pretty much the better of the two. Glad they finally got that all sorted.

This news came out of nowhere. They’re losing the rights to Inuyasha after this weekend and will be replacing it with another run of Symbionic Titan. Also, FMAB and GITS get snipped for DST on March 8th.

I’m honestly really surprised they’re letting it go. Its been a staple of AS’s anime lineup for so long I would’ve assumed they’d continue to renew it. Of course, there could be any number of circumstances that led to them dropping it, or even not being able to renew it, but that’s something we’ll probably never know.

    From the Tumblr:

    Quote:

Inuyasha is leaving, Symbionic it returning, DST line up!

Sorry for the short notice, but we’re losing the rights to Inuyasha after this weekend, so starting Saturday 3/8 we’re replacing it with Symbionic Titan at 5:30a. Also Daylight Saving Time is 3/8, so we’re losing one hour JUST FOR THAT NIGHT. Soul Eater will not be affected, so Black Lagoon is still set to premiere on 3/22. GITS and FMAB will return as regularly scheduled on 3/15.

March 8th Line up will be –

    Space Dandy

    Bleach

    Shippude

    One Piece

    Blue Exorcist

    Soul Eater

    Uncut Naruto

    Samurai Jack

    IGPX

    SWCW

    Symbionic-Titan

Did they ever get around to running The Final Act?

It’s sad to see my second favorite anime and favorite all time anime from the old days of Adult Swim go,but then again I guess I can be glad that I still got my DVDs.

When I first learn of Attack on Titan, I told myself, “wait until the Dub comes out.”

Glad I didn’t have to wait too long. >=3

I have my own suspicions of what actually might be going on in Attack on Titan. I think it might in the end turn out to be all a red herring and that it might turn out to be a disguised Mecha series, but then again

I could very much be wrong about it all.

I have little interest in the Kai version of DBZ, but if nothing else it should bring in some great ratings.

I gotta say Toonami’s current line up might be one of the best since its resurrection! They could air Black Lagoon, Attack on Titan, and several hours Tom talking to himself in between clips of static and it would still be a pretty awesome Saturday night, but they’ve got a really solid lineup. I was late to the AoT party, but I LOVE this one as much as I love Black Lagoon!
I’m still not sold on AoT,then again I have problems with over-hyped shows.Aside from all the fighting does it have a good plot and characters?

The short answer to this is yes. There’s nothing earth shattering or new in AoT, in fact it has been described as a mecha anime in disguise, but its strength is not its originality, but its overall quality. Aside from your run of the mill shonen show pacing problems, e.g. battles/sequences spread over MANY episodes, and a stereotypical main character, the show is remarkably devoid of cliches and overused tropes. I genuinely enjoyed and invested in nearly all of the characters, which lead to a not inconsiderable heartbreak due to the nature of the show itself 😆 I’d say if you enjoy action/drama that is on the more violent side, you will definitely like AoT.

I’ve been really surprised by the mixed reaction Gurren Lagann has gotten since the announcement. The only thing about it I found less than stellar was the 2AM time slot, but I guess they don’t want to shuffle AoT, Bleach, Dandy OR Naruto – two new hotnesses with large fanbases and two long running juggernauts – so I guess they had no choice really.
    Wha..? 2 a.m.?

So they got the rights for it now? So soon? It wasn’t too long ago that it premiered on SYFY’s Animonday block.

I wonder if Toonami will pick up any other shows from either Animonday or Techtv/G4’s Anime Unleashed. It be

nice if they picked up Rahxephon as well.

    Wishful thinking I know,still…

Now as far as Gurren Lagann goes anyone who hasn’t seen it is in for a real treat as it’s one of the best

animes and certainly the best mecha anime to come out in the past decade.

And let’s all recite in one big voice Team Gurren’s motto now:”WHO THE HELL DO YOU THINK I AM?”

So what the heck is a priemere-athon?

Evidently Dandy never saw the Cowboy Bebop episode ‘Toys In The Attic‘ or he wouldn’t be so reckless in opening a refrigerator door like that.As Spike found out nasty things live in refrigerators! 😆

Toonami wasn’t quite done with their rerun of the first season of Dandy the night season 2 was supposed to premiere, so they replaced Attack on Titan and Bleach for one night and held a mini-marathon of episodes 12 and 13 from season 1 and the premiere of the first episode of season 2 all back-to-back.

Wisper, I don’t think I’ve said it before, but we all really appreciate the time you put into these updates. They’re a wonderful resource for us Toonami faithful, and it’s really great of you to take the time to round up all those clips for us! Keep up the good work, man, and don’t worry about falling behind a few weeks, heaven knows I’m way behind on plenty of things here as well… o7
The good thing is that everyone’s being able to keep up with what’s happening on Toonami, including us non-viewers.

So being a few weeks behind doesn’t matter, as long as we know the important stuff that’s happening.

With Hellsing Ultimate airing, it definitely throws the possibility of War on Geminar airing on the block back on table.

Because we ALL KNOW it has a much better chance of finding an audience than GXP did, even at 3AM.

Also, the chance of the new 4 part Ghost in the Shell OVA, Arise, airing is now definitely there.

But whoa, nice to see this thread somewhat kicking. Beats frequenting current unprofessional Toonami fansites, that’s for sure. qt1

    Beware! It’s “Batman” weekEND… sadface1

    Quote:

Bad news: We JUST (like, hours ago) found out from our legal department that Beware the Batman and Sym-bionic Titan are being “written off,” financially, as of now. Therefore, after this weekend neither of those two shows will be a part of Toonami again, unfortunately. What’s the good news? Welp, because we hate to bone you Bat-fans by simply yanking the show, we’re running ALL of the remaining unaired episodes THIS weekend from 2:30a-6a, for one last Bat-blow out. FYI, Hellsing fans: that means we skip Hellsing this Saturday, but don’t worry- it will return next week at an earlier timeslot! [2:00 AM- N.]

Ah..Well…Batfans can still catch Gotham on FOX for their Batfix. And there’s always the Adam West

series on Metv. How good was Beware The Batman any ways?

I still think that FOX’ ’90s Batman:The Animated Series was probably the best with Batman Beyond

a close second for animated Batman.

I know but I don’t like paying for something without watching the series first. And I know there were a few sites to watch it on but my tablet wouldn’t load the sites properly same with the library computers for some reason so this is a great way to finally see it in English dub. Tenchismile

Oh..they’re finally finishing Bleach? It’s be so long since the series has been on the air that I thought it was going to end up being continued by Tite Kubo’s great great great great grandson! 😆 😆 😆

Seriously am I the only one who will be miffed if it doesn’t end with Rukia and Ichigo together as a couple?

Personally, I was always partial to Orihime, but Rukia x Ichigo does seem inevitable, which I would be ok with.

But the manga isn’t ending, so we’ll have to get that question answered another day. It’s just the anime that’s over. It may get a Shippuden/InuYasha:TFA-esque sequel series to adapt the rest after the manga does eventually end though.

Probably or else a series of movies which might be the better bet.

Speaking of Inuyasha, when do they start The Final Act?

Movie Month lineup has been announced!

    Quote:

    MOVIE TIME ANNOUNCEMENT!!

We’re sorry we don’t have them for next week, but we’re kicking off movie month with the last two episodes of the Hellsing Ultimate!. 9’s the first week, and 10’s the next week. And there’s a whole bunch of movies too! Every week for a month we’re showing two movies (if you count Hellsing as a movie, which we are). Full list below, and full schedule to come in the next couple of weeks. Spend your holiday in Hyoerspace with us!

December 6th – Hellsing Ultimate 9 and Summer Wars

December 13th – Hellsing Ultimate 10 and Fullmetal Alchemist: The Sacred Star of Milos

December 20th – Dragonball Z: Broly – The Legendary Super Saiyan and Akira

    December 27th – Evangelion 1.11 and Evangelion 2.22

Despite most of the movies being reruns, this is a pretty solid lineup.

I’m surprised they managed to get the last two episodes of Hellsing Ultimate so fast after the “sorry, we don’t have those” announcement. Really looking forward to them, although it makes me wonder, if they had run them in November as originally planned, would we have seen two different films take their place for movie month, or would the first two weeks only have had one film?

Unlike last year though, not counting HU, there’s nothing I haven’t already seen, including the two “premieres” (Broly, which I at least consider a network premiere and FMA: Milos). Akira was the only new thing for me last time.

Despite already owning them, I’d be willing to watch the EVA films and Broly again hosted by TOM. I’ll probably pass on Summer Wars and Akira, which I like but don’t really feel like watching again yet, and on FMA: Milos which I HATED despite being loving both FMA series. I thought it was a pretty terrible film, and the art style was so… odd. I hope it does well for them, but I will not be watching it.

11/18 EDIT: Actually, now that I check, the Broly films never aired on CN or Toonami. So it’s an actual Toonami premiere as well an AS/CN premiere, although not a TV premiere, since at least the first two did air on Nicktoons back when they were still showing DBZ Kai.

Now the question is will they air the final two Rebuild movies as well?

Well, sure, they’ve aired two already, I don’t see why they wouldn’t air the rest. But FUNi has to get over whatever hurdles that seem to be keeping them from releasing 3.0 first, and 4.0 has to actually come out.

    Now on to the promos:

I saw this earlier. That’s too bad.

On the plus side, DeMarco confirmed that this won’t affect their budget or the Intruder II event at all.

I do find it odd that they’re now not entirely sure that KlK will premiere at 11:30, since that time slot wasn’t affected at all. It’s possible they may be rethinking the lineup structure and we’ll see some more things shuffled around, like they’re already doing by finally moving AOT reruns out of the top slot.

I would like to just see a little more freshness in the line-up, like replacing Bleach with Fairy Tale, not drastically changing the formula but more than half of Toonami’s line-up is almost as old as Adult Swim period. I would also shift all the new stuff to the front and the quote unquote “Ratings Giants” to the back, if they think Gurren Lagann is fine at 1:30, One Piece will be fine at 3.

    SnowQueen

I agree about switching to newer shows. I think moving the Big 3 to a later time or just dropping them except one maybe would be good and make room for shows that deserve to shine more and still fit into Toonami. KLK airing is definitely a good idea and hopefully that will rank in back the ratings and such but still that alone isnt going to be enough I don’t think.

I have to say, I’m actually shocked they thought it was better to keep Inuyasha final over Attack on Titan, as Attack on Titan is longer and newer and has potential to grow off of.

GiTS, Bebop, and IGPX needed to go though, especially the first 2, they’ve been on Adult Swim for 10 years.

How far have they gotten in One Piece now?

I went to I09 yesterday and they had an article up about Kill La Kill on Toonami with the Opening and a clip.I looked at both and want to get it even more.

Though I do have to admit after watching the clip I have the weird urge to cry:

    “DIE MAKO!DIE!” 😆 😆 😆

As some people may already know, Adult Swim tried a little experiment with anime outside of Toonami recently.

They started airing a rerun of the previous week’s “new” episode of DBZ Kai Saturday nights at 8PM Eastern, right at the start of AS. This only happened, like, 2 weeks ago I think. The first week didn’t pull in ratings that were all that great, probably because people just weren’t aware, plus because it was a last-minute change some guides didn’t show it yet. It did far better the 2nd week, raking in about 1.2 million viewers, which is almost unheard of in that timeslot.

Because of this success, they were quick to pair DBZ up with reruns of another shonen anime. This time: One Piece at 8:30PM! I’m a bit surprised they went with OP instead of, say, Shippuden, but I think this is a great idea. Despite being a mega-hit in Japan, One Piece has never reached the heights of popularity and mainstream appeal that the likes of DBZ, Naruto, Bleach, and even InuYasha have achieved in the US. I’m hoping this can be a step towards bringing it some much needed recognition by drawing in younger viewers and CN holdovers in an early slot. I’m not exactly sure when this is supposed to happen, but it should be within the next few weeks, if not this upcoming weekend.

Well the Toon Network is a bit notorious about making last minute changes like that.

Good to see though that they took the chance on re-airing One Piece it’s one series that

needs to have more love IMO.

Two misses from Sentai for me so far.

My interest in Parasyte is almost non-existent. Ditto for Akame ga Kill. They’re both the kind of dark, gritty, horrible-things-happening-to-people shows that I don’t enjoy watching. I’ll give them both a fair shot, but I don’t suspect I’ll make it far in either of them.

    – The long-awaited Intruder 2 event starts November 7th during DBZ Kai commercial breaks and runs for 6 weeks. Roughly 25 minutes of footage in total, meaning about a four-ish minute segment each week.

    – The long-in-development Toonami comic will also launch on November 7th. It ties in with Intruder 2.

    – And finally, they premiered the dub of the first Parasyte episode at the panel. The TV broadcast begins October 3rd at 1AM, bumping down Michiko & Hatchin.

    How did Parasyte look?

Toonami is proud to announce an original co-prodution with legendary studio, Production I.G, “FLCL” seasons 2 and 3! That’s right, we are producing 12 new FLCL episodes to be split into two seasons, and serve as a sequel to the original classic, FLCL! Stay tuned for more info when we have it!

    http://toonamisquad.boards.net/thread/231/turner-adult-swim-announces-seasons

    Quote:

In the new season of FLCL, many years have passed since Naota and Haruhara Haruko shared their adventure together. Meanwhile, the war between the two entities known as Medical Mechanica and Fraternity rages across the galaxy. Enter Hidomi, a young teenaged girl who believes there is nothing amazing to expect from her average life, until one day when a new teacher named Haruko arrives at her school. Soon enough, Medical Mechanica is attacking her town and Hidomi discovers a secret within her that could save everyone, a secret that only Haruko can unlock.

But why did Haruko return to Earth?

What happened to her Rickenbacker 4001 she left with Naota?

And where did the human-type robot ‘Canti’ go?

All of these questions and more will be answered in the new season of the series, which is set to premiere in late 2017/early 2018 on Adult Swim.

My initial reaction was EXTREME EXCITEMENT.

But after calming down and thinking about it, I can definitely see why a lot of people are apprehensive about this.

This could go either way, but reading the plot description, I think this could work. If they do it right, of course.

    https://pbs.twimg.com/media/CeWGJzIUYAYsWLP.jpg" />

So, it’s not really a direct sequel, per se. It’s another adventure in the crazy life of Haruko, set years later with a new protagonist that gets tangled up in her antics. Though I’d be dumb-founded if a grown-up Naota didn’t appear at some point.

For what it’s worth, they are bringing back some familiar staff, and they roped in the director of Psycho-Pass. The wild-card here is Iwai on writing duty. He’s a J-Drama writer and actor who I can find very little information about.

    Quote:

Back for the new season is FLCL series creator Kazuya Tsurumaki, serving as supervisor with director Katsuyuki Motohiro (Psycho-Pass) and character designer Yoshiyuki Sadamoto (Neon Genesis Evangelion). Also joining this season is writer Hideto Iwai (Last Dinner).

Oh yeah, and The Pillows are back for the soundtrack kiyonesmile1

I’m dubious since we all know about what happened with Big O when they did the same thing.

Good idea but it fell flat.

OTOH it might not be as bad since The Pillows are involved so you know that means great music.

Then again have they announced the dub cast list?

If they don’t have Kari Wahlgren reprising her role as Haruko I don’t think it be worth it.

They said “the plan” is to get the original cast back together. Too early for a 100% confirmation, but it seems likely. Kari Wahlgren said she hasn’t been asked yet, but is totally on-board if/when they do.

That is a good sign if she is willing to do it. If she weren’t involved I don’t think it would be worth it, like I said before.

Parasyte reruns at 3am once Kill la Kill’s current run is over.

Yes, they used an image from the 2011 series in the stream. Plus I don’t think Viz has the license to the original anymore. Those DVDs have been OOP for years.

Sure thing. The current line-up looks like this:

    Quote:

    12:00A: DRAGON BALL Z KAI

    12:30A: DIMENSION W

    1:00A: PARASYTE -THE MAXIM-

    1:30A: SAMURAI CHAMPLOO

    2:00A: NARUTO SHIPPUDEN

    2:30A: ONE PIECE

    3:00A: KILL LA KILL

But starting April 16th it changes to this:

    Quote:

    12:00A: DRAGON BALL Z KAI

    12:30A: DIMENSION W

    1:00A: HUNTER x HUNTER

    1:30A: SAMURAI CHAMPLOO

    2:00A: NARUTO SHIPPUDEN

    2:30A: ONE PIECE

    3:00A: PARASYTE -THE MAXIM-

Any plans to air the final Naruto:Shippuden movie any time in the future? I mean the one that wraps up the entire series and pissed off certain people because of the whole Hinata x Naruto thing.

Well, maybe eventually? They don’t really talk that far ahead. They haven’t done as many movies lately, and they never did bother with the rest of the Bleach movies, but with The Last being canon, I could see them prioritizing it even if they don’t bother with the other one-off films. But seeing as how it’s a sequel, I can’t see them doing that before they air the ending of the series. They’re barely at episode 107, and the series is on 456 in Japan and is still going for now. They’ve got at least 7 years worth of episodes to get through first.

Interesting. So they actually gained a half hour, rather than merely shifting the whole block up?

That Gundam trailer pushes all the right nostalgia buttons. A Peter Cullen narration is the only thing that could’ve made it better, but that’s not even a possibility at this point.

    No, it’s a shift: 11:30 – 3:00 instead of 12:00 to 3:30.

I edited the post to make it clearer.

    New schedule:

    11:30 PM – DBZ Kai

    12:00 PM – Gundam IBO

    12:30 PM – Hunter X Hunter

    1:00 PM – Samurai Champloo

    1:30 PM – Naruto Shippuden

    2:00 PM – One Piece

    2:30 PM – Parasyte

It’s been a whopping 22 months since we last saw a movie on Toonami, but they’re making use of the extra DST hour on Saturday, November 5th to show Makoto Shinkai’s Children Who Chase Lost Voices.

    Here’s the JP trailer –

November 5th is also apparently the kickoff for the INTRUDER III event. I somehow missed the memo until now.

Heck, I didn’t even know that was a thing.

Too bad they’re putting Children Who Hear Lost Voices on at 3 in the morning though. It doesn’t look like they’re exactly trying hard to attract an audience for it by putting it in the wee hours of the a.m.

While I don’t disagree, this time it’s not really about grabbing a big audience. It’s more about programming variety and a bunch of things working out against the odds to justify airing a movie at all. Apparently, they could get it cheaper by airing it later, since the ratings expectations are lower as the night goes on. They think the movie will do “good enough” to justify airing it 3am, which seems to implying that if it aired any earlier, the movie would have to do proportionally better to justify the costs, and not pre-empting the rest of that nights new episodes won’t hurt the overall night if the movie flops.

It’s kind of a miracle this is even happening in the first place, but it was basically 3am or nothing.

Plus so many people have some sort of DVR or recording device one way or another as well. I sadly do not and don’t want to stay up that late but Im glad they are expanding to more….adult anime even if its just one movie I think its a step in the right direction ( and i don’t mean adult like boobs and gore and cussing I mean its more mature and mindful)
Personally if I wanted to see it I would skip Toonami and simply order it from Rightstuf.

T’was only a matter of time:

FUNimation Entertainment and Adult Swim announced on Wednesday that the Buu Saga of Dragon Ball Z Kai will air on Toonami under the title Dragon Ball Z Kai: The Final Chapters. The series will premiere at night on Saturday, January 7 at 12:00 a.m. EST (effectively Sunday morning), and that Dragon Ball Super will TV premiere on January 7, 2017 at 8:00 p.m. EST and 11:30 p.m. EST. The 26 episodes of DBS first season — which encompass the storylines of the Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods and Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection ‘F’ films — are scheduled to follow.

    [BBvideo]http://youtu.be/ddRlwEmH7Bc[/BBvideo]

And they’re apparently going to put Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn RE:0096 on at 1:00 a.m.

So much Dragon Ball! It’s interesting that they’re actually debuting new episodes of Super at 8PM, right at the transition from CN. Looks like they’re gonna try as hard as they can to get the younger crowd watching as well, despite it being confined to Adult Swim hours.

Even though it’s airing at 1 in the morning I’m still surprised that the Toon Network released that trailer of Unicorn

without editing any of the blood out of it. I guessed maybe they finally realized that people bleed when they get shot?

And…what can a Dragonball trailer of any type be without at least one or two Kame-Ha-Me-Ha waves? 😆

Why would an Adult Swim ad for Adult Swim programming need to be edited? It’s not like the show or the ad will be airing on daytime Cartoon Network. At most, the ad will air during the previous week’s Toonami and then maybe a few times during other AS programming the following week.

Unicorn is pretty tame compared to other stuff on Adult Swim, and even other Toonami shows since the revival.
