Urusei Yatsura and other Rumiko stories

Well, this site is dedicated to Tenchi, and what would Tenchi be with out the original ‘babe from outter space wants to kiss my face’ anime, Urusei Yatsura?

As you can tell by my avatar, I love Urusei Yatsura, heck, all things classic Rumiko Takahashi, I even like InuYasha to some extent, but Urusei Yatsura is where my love of the Rumiko world began. I can’t be the only guy here who sees the links between Lum and Ryoko Hakubi, right? And while Ataru Moroboshi never got his Harem like Tenchi did, he did grope every female character, recurring and one shot, so that counts, right?

  … I am a HUGE fan of Urusei Yatsura. However, my set of DVDs is unfortunately only 99% complete. I have all 50 TV volumes and all 6 OVA volumes, but only 5 of the 6 movies. That missing piece being Movie 2: Beautiful Dreamer, which was licensed by CPM rather than AnimEigo (who had everything else), and went OOP years before I ever decided to buy the show.
  
  Progress on actually watching this behemoth of a show has been… slow, to say the least. I’ve been watching it in release order, but I think it’s been at least a year or more since I last watched anything, I’m planning to get back to it soon though. I’m on Volume 14 (eps 53-56) and I’ve seen the first movie. The 2nd movie released around ep. 100 or so. Not sure what I’m going to do about that when I get there.

  I have only two Urusei Yatsura dvds in my collection:Only You and Inaba The Dream Maker.
  
  The latter is particuliar fun because of Lum being in a bunny girl suit! soawesome1
  
  OTOH I have a lot of Inuyasha including both parts of The Final Act and all four of the movies.
  
  This is because it’s my second favorite anime following Silent Mobius and Kagome is my favorite character.
  
  I also have the first Ranma 1/2 movie:Big Trouble In Nekonron China such an ironic ending! 😆
  
  Mangawise I have:Inuyasha, one volume of Maison Ikkoku, Ranma 1/2 and the first three volumes of Rin-Ne I don’t have rumor for any more right now.

  Don’t forget the classic Mermaid Saga, it’s old by now and is a collection of folktales more or less. Don’t remember it all in details anymore. I think the anime is abridged.

  It’s sort of old news now, but RIN-NE is getting an anime adaptation for the coming Spring season. Takahashi has been using the same art style for almost thirty-five years, and it still looks great.

  I was on eBay doing my usual searches for rare anime DVDs. Did a quick search of UY stuff without expecting much, and that’s when I saw it.
  
  The Collector’s Series version of Beautiful Dreamer. Used. $40.
  
  I wasn’t even home, I found it on my phone, so I kind of panicked for 45 minutes until we got back. Needless to say, I practically tripped over myself running to my computer and…
  I BOUGHT IT!

  And now that Rin-Ne is finally animated we have to wait for Season 1 to make it here in DVD.
  
  I do hope I have space left for it when it does come out.

  Well the Japanese voices of Inuyasha and Kagome play his grandparents.Plus Tamako is awesome on her own!I have a feeling that Yukino Satuski might bring a bit of our American blonde from Ai Yori Aoshi into the role of Tamako,since she has the same sort of lively personality as Tina. iloveit1
