There can be only one (greeting from me to you in this thread)! The 80’s and 90’s were truly a golden age of anime (although I’ll always be partial to 70’s anime myself), and I’m glad to have someone with such good taste join our lovely forum! What are some of your other favorites from that era? Anyway, welcome aboard and feel free to chat with us any time! Welcome to the forum! It’s always great to have more creative fans aboard! I think you might be getting a teensy bit ahead of yourself Greg ol’ boy.

Well I’ll be damned… this is the first time I’ve ever actually disagreed with you regarding something Tenchi related, Who. And it’s even fanservice related at that!
😆 In all seriousness though, I actually thought the gag with the Tenchi-ken was really funny, and refreshingly done. Let’s face it, this isn’t the first time the connection has been made, not by a long shot. Probably since its very first appearance fans have snickered at the unintentional (or maybe not so unintentional…) phallic imagery associated with the Tenchi-ken. I thought the way that Ukan teased Tenchi by implying that it was something
hewas into was a refreshing and novel iteration of the gag. It seemed, to me at least, that Negishi was giving a wink and a nod to a fan in-joke that’s as old as the fandom itself, and he did so with more subtlety and craft than certain other Tenchi creators have in the past… Reasonable minds can certainly differ though, and I certainly wont hold it against anyone for finding something like this to be against their taste. - October 16, 2014 at 2:16 AM

The third real world location referenced in Ai Tenchi Muyo came in today’s episode, and is , in Akaiwa City, Okayama Prefecture. This is a peach resort where visitors can arrange aTomomi-en ! The resort is renowned for its white peaches, an Okayama signature fruit called a Hakutou.peach picking tourhttp://www.hakutou.jp/peach-picking/images/bg_wrapper.jpg " /> - October 15, 2014 at 1:32 AM

The second real world location name dropped in Ai Tenchi Muyo! came in yesterday’s episode, and was in reference to the .Bichyuu Matsuyama CastleLocated in good ol’ Takahashi city itself, the castle is notable for being one of only twelve remaining original castles in Japan, and being the highest above sea-level.

You all did an excellent job covering all the pluses, minuses, pantie-shots, and dimension hops, especially our intrepid newcomers! I wish I could have been in on it, but you all did far better than I would have. I look forward to being in future reaction casts in the coming weeks!

I’m driving back to the glorious Commonwealth of Pennsylvania today, so I wont be able to make it in the cast today.
