Doujins are relatively easy because most of them are thin and just held together with a staple.

The thick ones however have spines and are very stiff and easy to crack.

What I’d like to find is some sort of glass or “view shifter” that is somewhat like a periscope.

Where I could place the flat glass shifter, and it would fit into the book so the whole page was covered, then use the

wand scanner an inch or two away from the spine on the glass and get a proper full page image. Some things you just can’t

scan well without destroying it, so that’s what I need to figure out.

I got the scanner wand in today. Going to start messing with it in a few minutes.

    One or two.

I think the trick is more so going to be taking a sheet of glass, perhaps a mirror, and getting it angled right so

    you can get a scan.

What really befuddles me, is the DIY book scanners that take a few hundred pages an hour, use(d) mid to low range megapixel cameras. Those were high cost parts of the assembly at the time. Scanner wands have been around quite a while and the price has been in the $80 to $300 range, and you’re getting a better DPI.

Can’t say I’m going to reinvent the wheel, but maybe the books scanner concept needs an overhaul.

I got this one cause it had higher DPI and the rollers are all the way across.

Plus I got it off eBay for like $40.

I’m sure if Dagon were around he would love to talk your ear off regarding that picture as he was the one that

found something on it originally. Then came the hasegawa novel info.

Just as a note, nothing super amazing, but I bought a wand scanner (rather than a flatbed type),

so I’ll see if combined with glass or some other elements if that isn’t a decent means to get some of

    our more rare things digitized.

I also got a bunch of early 90s fanzine newsletters, but a real golden nugget has to be the pac newsletters… 4 of them and there’s a ton of vintage tenchi stuff in them, even interview with petrea, info from the cons that pioneer had them go to.

Also got a pretty amazing nge poster.

I think what I want to do is rebuild it as a Director’s Cut. Which means more video editing and stuff I’m unfamiliar with.

I’m trying to see if I can get Andy to record his lines, since he wasn’t able to make the cast originally.

I’ll have to get Mitten’s lines again, cause she recorded her’s later I think.

Dagon I’m missing the intro part until he came in later in the cast, which he did when he combined the first video separately.

The rest is largely just assembling the parts. I’ve got the tracks in Audacity, Probably need to do some volume leveling.

It doth appear that I had a copy of the DualCast audio, music, and sound clips on my NAS for when I sent it out to Dagon for editing. So evidently….. minus the opening and dr.who wormhole, and video for it, yes we still have the guts of the DualCast.

What specifically are you looking for, regular Muyo or AI or everything?

Ai had a map that I posted as some point ago…. There used to be a site or something that

had a pretty detailed write up on vanilla Tenchi locations, can’t seem to find it atm.
