Metal Gear SaladSo, my latest drawing requires a bit of context. This is
, a new character introduced in the latest iteration of Dead or Alive (which most of you know is my favorite fighting game). Her moveset is mostly a mix of borrowed moves from other characters, not unlike a salad, which is a mixture of leafy vegetables. As such, fans quickly nicknamed her “Salad.”HonokaPrompted by the hype of the newly-released Metal Gear Solid 5, I finally picked up the first MGS for the original PlayStation, which got me thinking about maybe doing some MGS fanart. The lightbulb went off, and thus, “Metal Gear Salad” was born.
I’m pretty satisfied with this one. The finished picture came out a lot better than I anticipated. My favorite part, weird as this may sound, is probably the box. I had a lot of fun designing the details. As an FYI for those who don’t know, DOATEC is an organization prominently featured in DOA. The logo (which I designed) doubles as a way to make an otherwise generic box more DOA-specific and as a nod to the labeled boxes in MGS (which makes them effective hiding spots only in specific areas).
Careful you don’t run into Salad Snake while you’re out patrolling a super-sus research facility and military complex. You probably won’t live long.

We’re just a few short weeks away from the start of a new anime season! Time for the usual watch-list sharing. The Fall 2015 line-up can be found at
andAniChart .ANN~~~~~~~~~~
While my current list is just as big, there are slightly fewer titles that REALLY catch my eye beyond superficial curiosity than last season, which had almost too many to handle. Mecha dominates in sheer numbers this season, while comedies were the cream of the crop for me last time. I’m curious to see if that’ll be the Mecha shows this time around.
Must-watch:– Comet Lucifer (Original mecha/fantasy/sci-fi mish-mash with a rather interesting plot.)
– Concrete Revolutio (An original anime from Bones and the creative team behind the FMA anime? Yes, please.)
– Heavy Object (Mecha warfare with the character designer of one of my personal favorite game series, Ar Tonelico. I’m sold.)
– Lupin the Third (I don’t love Lupin, but it is always a fun watch. The latest series seems quite interesting, what with it being set, and even premiering, in Italy.)
– Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans (It’s fricking Gundam. I do love me some giant robots.)
– One Punch Man (I know little about this Shonen Jump series, but I love the artwork and the trailers make it look really fun.)
Probably going to watch:– A Corpse is Buried Under Sakurako’s Feet (Mystery. Sounds really interesting. I feel like this one might end up a fan favorite of the season.)
– Komori-san Can’t Decline (Short-form comedy. Premise sounds amusing. Nice character designs.)
– Ore ga Ojō-sama Gakkō ni “Shomin Sample” Toshite Gets-rareta Ken (Gosh that was a mouthful of a title. “Guy at a girl’s school” premise has been done many times before, but this one seems to put some amusing twists on the forumla.)
– Perfect Insider (I won’t say no to more mystery. Especially a murder mystery.)
Might check out:– AntiMagic Academy: The 35th Test Platoon (Don’t know much about this one. Designs and premise sound interesting.)
– Asterisk War (Don’t know much about this one either. Designs and premise also seem interesting.)
– Attack on Titan: Junior High (Eh, I don’t care for Titan very much, but if this comedy spinoff is decent I’ll give it a shot, though I’d prefer to do it dubbed.)
– Garo: Guren no Tsuki (More of a spiritual successor to the previous Garo anime than a sequel. I didn’t stick with the other one long, but since this one seems to be standalone I’ll give it a shot.)
– Kyoufu! Zombie Neko (Short-form comedy about a zombie cat. Sounds really funny.)
– Valkyrie Drive: Mermaid (Action game/anime series from the creator of Senran Kagura. It also has yuri up the wazoo. If it’s halfway decent like SK I’ll give it a shot, but if it’s just fanservice-heavy cheesecake yuri then count me out.)
And last but not least, on-going shows:-GATE (Whenever I get around to catching up on it, that is.)
-Ushio & Tora (This quickly became one of my favorites from the Summer season. There’s no way I’m dropping it.)
Current total: 18 shows. 16 new and 2 continuing from last season.

Next from this season… Monster Musume! I like both of these songs a lot. The OP is super-catchy, and the ED is a rock/metal-lite song, which is unusual for a harem rom-com like this.
Just an FYI, both videos (mostly the OP) are somewhat NSFW.

SnowQueen wrote:I strongly dislike it when people use the Bible as a excuse to belittle others or to slam down others that is not what the Bible is meant for at all. This is very true. The people who do that are kind of missing the whole point. While the Bible may not approve of gay marriage, nowhere in there does it say to be belittle or condemn others. In fact, it explicitly says the exact opposite. To treat other religions and those who share differing beliefs with respect, even if we don’t agree with them. Y’know, “love thy neighbor” and all that. Something a lot of overzealous religious folk seem to forget. They make the rest of us look bad.
Having said that, and since we’re already on the subject, a lack of respect is a common problem on both sides of big arguments that people have very,
verystrong opinions about. Not supporting gay marriage for religious reasons does not automatically make you a close-minded, anti-gay bigot. Something a lot of overzealous pro-LGBT folk seem to forget. They make the level-headed supporters look bad. The unfortunate thing is that these vocal minorities (I hope) from both sides are the loudest and butt heads with the other side the most. Since that’s often what regular people encounter most frequently, it taints the mass’s perception of the other side’s attitude. These types of people are really doing more harm than good to the reputations of both sides of, not just this, but any big argument really.

Next up for my favorite theme songs of the season is Ushio & Tora. [BBvideo]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dqX6QgFqj5A [/BBvideo] [BBvideo]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y2YALKm2WcQ [/BBvideo] Both songs feel very 90’s (especially the OP), as they should. They sound very different than the usual pop songs for modern anime.

I really liked ITAZ. A very silly show (most of the time) and a very fun watch. - September 1, 2015 at 4:26 AM

I won’t flood the thread with simulcast talk… yet, anyway. But as for non-simulcasts, I’m watching
Lupin the Third: The Woman Called Fujiko Mine. I saw a few episodes while it was airing but never did finish it. Wanted to catch up on some Lupin before the new series starts in the Fall season, so I’m doing this one since it’s rather short (and it’s spinoff movie, Jigen’s Gravestone), I’ll rewatch Cagliostro, and might do some other movies or specials I haven’t seen (leaning towards Secret of Mamo, not sure what else I should cherry-pick). I started
Dance in the Vampire Bundat the beginning of summer, put it down for a little while, but I’m gonna continue that soon-ish. I’m not sure what possessed me to do so, but I decided to watch
Tokyo Ghoulrecently, and… it really wasn’t as bad as I was expecting. Also a plus was that the melodrama was down-played quite a bit until nearly half-way through the first season, which made the beginning a fairly easy watch. That’s not really the case any longer, but at least it hooked me before that point. I like that the series does have a clear message and a point to everything, it’s not just “dark, grim and edgy” for it’s own sake (although there is a bit of that), which made it far more tolerable than other similarly dark shows, like Future Diary, which is completely unwatchable for me. If Chiller’s short-lived anime block was good for anything, it was getting me to watch/rewatch all 4 shows they were airing. I’ve seen the first season of
Is This a Zombieand a few eps of Devil May Crybefore, but I don’t mind rewatching ITAZ and the TV broadcast was a great excuse to continue DMC. I also ended up enjoying
Black Blood Brothersmuch more than I thought I would. I never would have given it a shot if not for the TV broadcast. Tokyo Majinalso impressed me with it’s interesting supernatural story, distinct character designs and some slick action scenes. I want to continue it eventually, but unlike the other 3 Chiller shows, this one is 26 eps. I don’t really have the time to commit to a longer series at the moment, so it’s on the back-burner.
