Now that we’re through the fan-voted winners, here are the 5 designs that were the personal favorites of members of Team Ninja, along with a special blurb from each (please excuse the broken English). I’ve included my own thoughts/comments on all 5 as well. If I had to guess, I’d say these 5 are very likely to become DLC eventually since they were selected by the devs themselves. The other 10 voted winners are not necessarily guaranteed to be turned into in-game costumes.

Kasumi by Virak – Selected by Producer Yosuke Hayashi

Beautiful, cool and eye-grabbing. I think this costume embodies her characteristic well. I fully agree that all fans voted for this costume. I wanna fight with Kasumi in this costume!

WG: This one fits the character so well. There’s no doubt in my mind this one will be showing up in-game. Not only was it voted into the top 3, but its also the personal favorite of the game’s producer. This was the only costume to make both lists.

Ayane by Cielociel – Selected by Director Yohei Shimbori

First, I thought that what are you doing with our Ayane with a tail like a monkey, but I thought I started being deluded and honestly I thought she was cute in this costume. This is something that Team NINJA can’t create it by our own.

Christie by Rawbietussin – Selected by Chief Designer Yutaka Saito

I want to respond your love to Christie with my love to her. If I promise to meet with her at a coffee shop, this is the costume she will put on. Snake and Apple belt design is so adorable! Also, I think normally lady fighter wear half glove to fight, but she is a master of sneak fist, so she has to protect her fingertips.

WG: Saito’s comment is a little… odd, lol. I’m actually acquainted with the artist of this one over on FreeStepDodge, a DOA fansite. If not for me, his entry may have been unfairly left out of the contest. Voting had started, yet Team Ninja hadn’t uploaded his entry yet. He tried to contact them but they hadn’t responded. I offered to tweet them a reminder, and fortunately they quickly responded to my tweet with an apology and got his design up.

LeiFang by ??? – Selected by Team NINJA Designers (The whole design team, I guess?)

It’s so funky, original and keep DOA-ish tone in it. We, Team NINJA Designers, must admit that you defeated us! 参りました！！！

WG: I like this one. It’s simple, sexy, and creative and it fits the character thematically. I usually over-think designs and throw in too much detail, but this shows that sometimes less is more, or in this case better, design-wise at least.

Rachel by Xavi Shiranui – Selected by the Community Manager

It was unfortunate that this design was attacked by unknown hackers in Facebook and I have to set this aside from the competition. But I like her Damon Hunter-ish a tight black costume with a cyborg type of left arm. Also, I’m a big fan of Ninja Gaiden and would like to bring this costume to Ninja Gaiden Series someday. Thanks everybody again. Much Love.

WG: As was mentioned in the blurb, this fantastic design was hit by spammers. Over the course of a few days, it shot up from just a few hundred votes to over 20,000 and unfortunately had to be disqualified. It very likely would’ve made the top 10 if this hadn’t happened. This artist is also a member of FreeStepDodge.

Coincidence? Probably not. Its no secret that Aonuma is a huge Ghibli fan. But really, who isn’t?

😆 But seriously, while I am disappointed we’re not getting an actual Conker sequel, this is still a pretty neat thing to add to Spark. I’d love for this to be the start of a series of Rareware DLC packs for Project Spark.
