I’m assuming that’s the current HxH.

Yes, they used an image from the 2011 series in the stream. Plus I don’t think Viz has the license to the original anymore. Those DVDs have been OOP for years.

    Hunter x Hunter is Parasyte’s replacement. Starts April 16th @ 1am.

Parasyte reruns at 3am once Kill la Kill’s current run is over.

I bet it’s another recycling of one of the movies and or seasons 2&3 or any combination thereof.

You don’t sound to happy about that. I would think it’s a pretty safe bet it’ll be a re-imagining of the Comet Empire arc, while perhaps pulling some material from at least the two subsequent movies or even the Bolar Wars. That is exactly what 2199 was with The Quest for Iscandar, after all, and considering how successful that was, I can’t see why they wouldn’t do the same for the remaining seasons/movies of the original series.

The Comet Empire was my favorite season of the original series, so this has me very, very excited. Now, if only we could get a proper English release of 2199…

Not quite that many. For anime you’ve got…

    F/SN ’06

    UBW Movie

    /Zero

    Prisma Illya

    UBW TV

    And now…

    Fate/Extra: Last Encore

    Heaven’s Feel Movie Trilogy

And I guess Carnival Phantasm probably counts too, even though it’s a crossover with Tsukihime and Melty Blood.

So at least seven, maybe eight depending on how you look at CP.

I saw HF being a movie trilogy coming a mile away. Lovin’ the music in that PV.

And Extra gets Shafted in the best way possible. I wonder if it’ll be an adaptation or some kind of sequel/side-story like the upcoming game?

Then again have they announced the dub cast list?

They said “the plan” is to get the original cast back together. Too early for a 100% confirmation, but it seems likely. Kari Wahlgren said she hasn’t been asked yet, but is totally on-board if/when they do.

My initial reaction was EXTREME EXCITEMENT.

But after calming down and thinking about it, I can definitely see why a lot of people are apprehensive about this.

This could go either way, but reading the plot description, I think this could work. If they do it right, of course.

So, it’s not really a direct sequel, per se. It’s another adventure in the crazy life of Haruko, set years later with a new protagonist that gets tangled up in her antics. Though I’d be dumb-founded if a grown-up Naota didn’t appear at some point.

For what it’s worth, they are bringing back some familiar staff, and they roped in the director of Psycho-Pass. The wild-card here is Iwai on writing duty. He’s a J-Drama writer and actor who I can find very little information about.

    Quote:

Back for the new season is FLCL series creator Kazuya Tsurumaki, serving as supervisor with director Katsuyuki Motohiro (Psycho-Pass) and character designer Yoshiyuki Sadamoto (Neon Genesis Evangelion). Also joining this season is writer Hideto Iwai (Last Dinner).

Oh yeah, and The Pillows are back for the soundtrack kiyonesmile1

Well, it’s almost that time again. You guys know the drill.

Check the Spring 2016 anime lists at LiveChart and ANN.

Fortunately, my list was smaller than last time. Seems far more manageable once I drop a few things based on initial impressions.

    Must-watch

Kiznaiver (Trigger + Shirow Miwa on character designs = ???)

My Hero Academia (Read some of the manga. Love it)

Space Patrol Luluca (Trigger + Imaishi = ???)

Twin Star Exorcists (Also been reading the manga. Also loved it)

    Will probably watch

Bungo Stray Dogs (Kinda-sorta getting some Baccano vibes. Either way, looks like a cool show. Also, Studio Bones)

Flying Witch (I like the designs. Seems like a unique set-up for a slice-of-life show)

Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress (As I said when I posted the trailers, it has enough going for it for me to give it a watch)

    Maybes

Ace Attorney (Game-to-anime adaptations can be rather hit of miss. We’ll see how this goes)

    Big Order (Sounds kinda interesting)

Endride (Kenshin and Bastard!!’s creators split character design duties, but otherwise it looks really generic)

Haven’t You Heard? I’m Sakamoto/Sakamoto desu ga? (Seems to be pretty funny)

Joker Game (Sounds interesting. ANN’s description sounds very convoluted though)

Kuromukuro (Hadn’t heard of this one before. Looks sci-fi?)

Mayoiga (Could go either way. Premise sounds interesting, but could easily be something I wouldn’t care for)

Re:Zero (I like the character designs, but the premise sounds rather generic)

Shonen Maid (Cross-dressing shota’s doing housework? This could either be really funny or really terrible)

    On-going series

Ushio & Tora 2 (Will watch as soon as I finish Season 1)

Final Count: 16 new series + 1 continuing show

I’d probably be watching Macross Delta if I’d seen Frontier, but I haven’t. Ditto for the Magi: Sinbad spinoff. Never quite finished Season 1, let alone Season 2, and that’s unlikely to change anytime soon.

^ Holy crap, that song is fantastic, Nobu! I really need to give that show a shot.

Full disclosure: I never bothered with Divine Gate. I didn’t hear good things about it and it didn’t appeal to me in any way.

But I’ll be darned, it sure does have a great OP, both musically and visually.

So, the folks behind the Attack on Titan anime adaptation decided they wanted to make their own Attack on Titan, so they made steampunk Attack on Titan with zombies.

It’s called Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress.

PV2. This one previews the OP by EGOIST.

PV3. This one previews the ED by Aimer and Chelly, the lead vocalist for EGOIST. Part of the OP is in there as well.

As someone who watched AOT, but would not consider himself a fan, I was not impressed by the near-identical premise. BUT, the music sounds great, the animation looks amazing, and I LOVE the character designs. They’ve got a very old-school feel to them, and that’s thanks to Haruhiko Mikimoto, the character designer of the first few Macross series and the original Gunbuster, whom they somehow roped in for this project. He’s barely worked on a handful of titles since the turn of the century, so his involvement is a pretty big deal for old-school anime fans.

I’m not completely sold, as this isn’t the kind of show I typically bother with, but it has enough things going for it that I’m definitely giving it a fair shot.
