    The Toonami page at AS.com got a bit of a facelift this week.

    Also, TOM will be interviewing director Guillermo del Toro about Pacific Rim tonight. They made a promo plugging the interview, which can be viewed at the link.

    Now that I’m back from my trip, and have better internet access, I think this thread is LONG overdue for an update.

    Big news from the Tumblr: SAO shows up early, T-Cats is gone for good, Sym-Titan takes a break, and the 2nd Season of Big O joins the party.

    So the surprise has been pre-exploded. Here’s the deal.

    July 20th will be the last night of The Thundercats. We’re losing the rights. Also that will be the last night of Sym-Bionic Titan for a little while. It’ll be back for sure.

    Starting July 27th we’ll be premiering Sword Art Online at 2am and Big O Season 2 will start at 3:30am, as well.

    Wow, talk about getting a polarizing show.

    I… have very mixed feelings about this. If Toonami’s airing it, I’ll be watching, but probably not with much enthusiasm.

    SAO started great and had a very interesting premise, but quickly falls into overused anime cliches. I’ll be honest, I ended up dropping the show. The first half is fine, but from what I’ve heard of the second half things really went down the drain…

    [spoil]…like the multi-episode tentacle molestation of the female lead. Sigh… 🙄[/spoil]

    Now having said that, I won’t deny its popularity and it will be a dub premiere, so I hope it succeeds regardless of my personal feelings towards the show.

    My copies arrived yesterday. The box is pretty nice looking. I’m not too impressed with their choices of artwork on the cases though, its all just Kenshi and the girls. The two best pieces of official art (IMO), and the only ones used in this set that actually show the mecha were grayscale and only on that cardboard spacer that reserves a spot for Part 2 🙄

    Fortunately, one of those two, along with a third that also shows the mecha were included in that artbooklet.

    I’m not too surprised though. It was obvious from their advertising campaign that they weren’t really pushing the sci-fi/mecha aspects of the show.
