I always thought righstuf was owned by FUNimation. Shows what I know!

All in all I’m not surprised by this choice but I wish they’d packaged at least the Mihoshi Special with the OVAs. Oh well. Just thought it was worth giving official notice.

According to Lance, FUNi isn’t considering releasing what’s left of the back catalog for now. I believe he’s the same rep who frequently misleads fans though, so… isawitplz

From what I recall they’re not full dubtitles but they deviate very infrequently.

I just find it interesting that their VAs are supposedly so open about distaste for the company but continue to make con appearances and do panels for them. And their encoding is MILES above what it used to be; dropping alternate angles really helped, apparently. Also, dragonbox. That alone gives them a notch up from me lol.

Agree to disagree I suppose. They wouldn’t be my choice company but I prefer them to VIZ as the latter *still* releases edit-only products.

I read your post in that thread but I STILL don’t understand your undying hatred of FUNimation… oh, and also, according to Nobuyuki the subs are same old so that’s not even much of an upgrade. Still, I remember being stunned by the quality of the blu snapshots when they JP release first came out. I’ll probably double dip on the movies but not the OVAs.

Got Tenchi Forever and only need Daughter of Darkness and Tenchi Moyu in Love to complete the

movie set.Can I still get those as singles?

The old Geneon DVDs shouldn’t be too hard to find. Last I checked, Rightstuf still had In Love in stock. But Geneons DVDs were pretty poor quality and letterboxed if I remember right. FUNi’s will most likely be Anamorphic and superior in quality if they don’t screw up the DVD authoring.

You remembered wrong, The Geneon DVD’s are in Anamorphic widescreen, all FUNi has done has given them new menus and a repackage, lol

I got the Geneon Classics repackage of Daughter of Darkness and was always disappointed it didn’t have the encyclopedia the Pioneer edition of the same DVD did :/. I don’t expect FUNi to go to the trouble but I’d love to see it there, outdated and all.

Also, there being blu-rays is a pretty significant upgrade…

I hear the ratings were really good this past week. Haven’t been tuning in myself but glad the block is succeeding. Supposedly Black Dynamite is getting the shaft because it was a really bad lead-in for Toonami. Glad to see Williams Street is doing everything they can to keep Toonami running. I just hope VIZ gives them InuYasha the Final Act… not into Neon Alley, sorry. I want real TV lol.

Oh, totally digging that there’s a guide! I think I’ll watch Yamato while I wait for Discotek to finally release Harlock. I have all of 999 on my external hard drive, and I’m going to buy the s’more collection (even though it’s hardsubbed… seriously? in the DVD age?). So when I say I’m a fan I mean it :P

Just curious, does Manga have the subbed version available anywhere? While I do prefer my anime in English generally speaking a show from the ’70s was typically quite mangled. Sure, Star Blazers was obviously more accurate than say Battle for the Planets, but I’d prefer the unaltered show.

Oh, trust me. I think I’ve already made myself at home :P love your signature by the way. Haven’t seen Yamato myself yet, but I’m a big Matusmoto fan so it’s on my list for sure.

It don’t matter. A import would be easyer to play the import games but a regular US one will work too cus I know what I need to do to play imports on the system

What’s your ideal price range? Saturns are fairly easy to get on amazon. Got mine at a swap meet for a steal, but I don’t think you’d be able to do as well online.

Note that a US one will need the action replay cart to play imports.
