I wouldn’t mind a spin off series with the Doctor’s daughter

Heh, this is actually something that me and a friend of mine have cooked up after late nights of nerd arguments, lol. I could see it working, but I doubt that it could carry its momentum for very long. Also, Jack is totally my favorite companion of the entire new series!

Anyway, as for which classic Who eps to watch, the best answer is all of them! Lol, seeing as how that’s almost 40 years of TV though I’ll try and narrow it down! What I consider to be the “Golden Age” of Dr Who is pretty much all of the 3rd and 4th doctors’ tenures. In chronological order, some of my favorites are The Time Warrior, Genesis of the Daleks, Pyramids of Mars(my absolute favorite, and available on Netflix!), The Brain of Morbius, The Hand of Fear, The Deadly Assassin, The City of Death(Netflix), and Caves of the Androzani(Netflix). Like I said though, pretty much everything made between 1971 and 1981 is awesome in some way. There are plenty of fine episodes on either side of that range, but the overall quality is usually far lower.

Your concept sounds a lot like the serial Trial of a Timelord from Doctor Who, which is also told via flashbacks to particular incidents with an overarching trial backdrop.

Heh, it’s funny that you should mention that, as that arc is something I had considered as a source of inspiration for me idea! The format, mind you, not the elements, and only loosely so. Anyway, thanks for the input, I am glad that you found the idea enjoyable!

For example, what if Tenchi fell to Kagato, in OVA or TV? How would the family, and the universe as a whole, cope? That would be a fan fiction I would read.

This is actually another idea I had considered previously. I had imagined a scenario in which Kagato had somehow succeeded in capturing Tsunami. What would happen then? Would Tokimi intervene to aide her sisters, or would she actually revel in the chaos? Could she intervene even if she wanted to considering Kagato’s position? Would we somehow see Tenchi and Z team up, even begrudgingly to take down a common enemy? Oh how I love alternate story speculation! It’s a never ending source of totally nerdy and thought provoking fun!

I have always imagined that a sequel to Geminar would totally involve many more elements from Kenshi’s original universe. Whether this would involve him and the girls traveling to the main universe or Tenchi and co. crossing over to Geminar I don’t know, but it is definitely something I would like to see! I’d imagine that it would be a pretty crazy meeting, the brothers and their girls! Of course, I would mostly just like to see a massive battle with everybody versus some great dimension ripping villain!

Doctor Who is awesome! And of course I am referring only to the classic show! 😆 Lol, just kidding! I am a massive fan of the original show, and it will always be first in my heart, but I do quite enjoy the new iteration as well. Seeing as I’m probably the only one here who has ever seen the classic show, I will keep my comments related to the new show. As for favorite episode, it is easily the season two ep “The Girl in the Fireplace.” That episode was just so ingenious in its writing, and compelling in its portrayal of the Dr.’s heartbreak at the end. Runners up would be the Titanic episode (Kylie Minogue should totally have stayed on as a companion!), and the season one episode that first reintroduced the Daleks (and was the only one in which I found them at all terrifying). Discussion wise, I may get flack, but I absolutely HATED all of the season long arcs, from Bad Wolf all the way up to River Song. They all just fell so flat on their face by the end of the season that it was just more annoying than entertaining to follow. Likewise, I haven’t enjoyed any of the season finales so far either. The more “epic” they try and make Doctor Who, the more un-Doctor Who like they end up making it. The sole exception to this might be the first two episodes of the Master’s rebirth story. I really like the modern portrayal of the Master, but the third episode still managed to nosedive.

If you’ve got two hours to spare, treat yourself to this amazing performance! Pretty much all of my favorite soundtracks, anime or no, are represented in this one awesome vid!

Goodness, what an awesome thread concept! I’m proud to have played a role in shaping it!

Anyway, before I get to my own ideas, I will see if I can address yours first pii.

Your first idea, involving a different/disastrous timeline crossing over into your main line, is one that I find very intriguing! If you are seeking a source of inspiration, I would direct you to watch an episode of Star Trek: Voyager (“Deadlock,” Season 2, ep. 21), in which a very similar event occurs. I would imagine that the “refugees” from the crappy timeline would be quite desperate, and might even come out attacking their counterparts in an attempt to take over their places. It would be interesting to see how your characters will react to their “bad” counterparts, with mercy at first but forced brutality later? Quite good food for though. As for adapting it into an established story, I would think that it would best fit as a sort of “after story.” Not quite a sequel, but more than an additional chapter. Sort of like an add-on story that readers can feel free to read or skip at their leisure. The same would go for your Ryoko idea I would imagine, seeing as it is dependent on an established story, but doesn’t have any bearing on the established story itself.

Now for my idea! I have this great vision of a story involving Seto standing trial for her many backdoor manipulations and dirty dealings. Now, before anybody jumps to any conclusions, this is NOT some lame fanboy attempt to smack Seto around because I think she’s a “mary sue.” As I said a long time ago, she’s a very cool character with poor onscreen development. Anyway, my idea would involve the story beginning with the trial, and working backwards almost through a combination of testimony and flashbacks. I would like to explore the inner crises that such an event would cause not only for Seto, but for the other characters as well, after all most of them are her intimate family. As for the trial itself, I had in mind a sort of military tribunal taking place in the immediate aftermath of a disastrous struggle on Jurai. I’m not sure who I would have presiding/prosecuting/defending though, and I would be open to any ideas. I also haven’t got a clue at the moment as to how to end the story 😆

I am in complete concurrence good sir! We should really settle on a topic first though. Perhaps we could update the “poll” thread in this section to see if there is a consensus? Either that or we need some guidance from on high.

As part of the planned Dual! cosplay extravaganza at Otakon this summer, in which I shall be cosplaying Kazuki, it is my most fervent hope that I will encounter a hot Mitsuki cosplayer (or two! 😎 ).

Although, that put me in a crisis pretty analogous to this one….
