Actually!! Today, my boss changed my friday and wednesday hours, so on friday I should be working 12:30-4:30(this might change?? but I think this is the plan…), and then on saturday it still should be 12-4. What day will you guys be watching the movie? Also, where are you guys staying? : > I could probably get dropped off for a bit ^^v Hotel sun?? - January 8, 2014 at 5:25 PM

I know I say this a lot, but The Place Promised in Our Early Days is also something on my list. I saw 5 centimeters per second and voices of a distant star, both are so good! So I bet that movie is good as well kiyonesmile1 - January 7, 2014 at 10:50 PM

That’s an interesting theory about her aunt being an influence! I’ve never heard that. I don’t think that though, myself. I think Utena was always gay or bisexual but it was her discovering. I say bisexual because she is/was in love with Dios… There’s an interview somewhere with Ikuhara saying he likes gay relationships because you can focus more on the character, because in straight pairings it starts to revolve around their relationship than them as characters… something like that. Also I just think the man likes lesbians. One of my friends was actually saying the other day “Wait, what happens to Utena before she’s at Ohtori?” I told her the anime didn’t really give an explanation. I think maybe she lived with her aunt, but in the anime we never see any postcards (I don’t think she was sent any) and there’s an episode towards the end where we learn what really happens during the “Once upon a time…” scene

^u^)hereUgh, Nanami xD I actually started to really like her and feel bad for her towards the middle and end of the series, but I just always remember her killing the kitten in the first arc and I just can’t seem to get over that…

The more I read this line the more I realize it was probably a criticism.
And the more I like itdespite the fact I think it’s a shite macro. That’s how I took it, I thought it was making fun of us who enjoy it but would prefer he picks a girl

YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW HAPPY I AM WITH THAT COMMENT ABOUT SAITO I love her SO much! Her art is AMAZING. http://ohtori.nu/gallery/var/resizes/Manga/Artwork/Utena_Anthy/Utena_Anthy_03.jpg?m=1380883749 " /> I see a lot of Utena fans don’t like the manga because it
isa very watered down version of the anime. I personally like cute shojo things so it’s a good balance for me. Also, she said some things that people consider homophobic (in commentary for the last episode, she mentions not wanting to work on a series where the two girls are outright lesbians because … I forget, something about since it was in Ciao, a magazine for young girls, she didn’t want to make them feel alienated or something by making a lesbian series?) And she also threatened to walk out on Utenaif they kissed in the second ending, so Ikuhara hid it lol. :38-:40

http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lq8eeu1Teb1qdyi3xo1_500.jpg " /> but I think the popularity of Utena has helped her become ok with it, and it IS more heavily implied in her movie manga that they are lesbians. (I tend to defend Saito… I once encountered someone in a Saito fan group asking about Utena, they asked if it was about lesbians and I said yes, and they said they didn’t like lesbian series, and I am not Saito or have really talked to her but I feel maybe she was afraid of having Utena received more like that than all the positivity it got).

http://ohtori.nu/gallery/var/resizes/Movie_Manga/Movie_Manga_01.jpg?m=1380883040 I love Chu Chu, too! Such a cute little guy haha!

Mitsuki lover, did you get the re-release box set? I have those, they’re WONDERFUL. The last box comes with a book (well they all have books) but in this one, fan Qs were chosen for Ikuhara to answer, one of mine was chosen ;w; It was such a stupid question xD but it made me happy.
