Lance is actually the manager in the back office that the salesmen run to.

Anyway, Kadokawa serves only Japan if I’m not mistaken, and these were officially translated by Viz for the western market right? Doesn’t that mean that Kadokawa only holds the original Japanese versions’ copyright, while the English versions are a separate property and are currently unheld?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Berne_Convention_for_the_Protection_of_Literary_and_Artistic_Works Even though Viz’s license lapsed, the
on their translated manga is still in effect.copyrightKeep in mind however, that there’s a shittonne of stuff on this website that falls into violating the letter of the law.
😉 Don’t worry about it and let one do as he feels comfortable.

illegal.I agree with you WisperG, but both series’ have been out of print for almost 10 years, and as far as I have been able to determine Viz’s copyright of both series has lapsed. Unless I am very mistaken, that means that both series are now in the public domain.
I wouldn’t go that far. While true that Viz’s license to publish has expired and returned to Kadokawa, Kadokawa still hold the rights to the original work. Public domain’s a couple generations down the line, if ever.Quote:While it isn’t prohibitively hard to acquire hard copies, it is certainly a real pain in the butt, and until someone re-licenses them then online scans are the only practical way that this series can be discovered by new readers. Let me know if I’m wrong anywhere here, because I certainly don’t want to be seen encouraging illegal activity.
It can’t be helped.😉 - November 11, 2012 at 12:03 AM
