I thought that was the whole reason we got series like War on Geminar in the first place.

It’s Tenchi without having any of the regular characters in it.

Yeah I thought so too, but then Kajishima sunk that boat with his doujin’s, with Kenshi doing every girl and their mom’s. Kajishima is trying to sink the Tenchi at whatever chance there is, intentionally or not is debatable. If you want a new series, look towards Negishi as the franchises savior.

Insert Negishi picture with a halo and light coming around him here.

I think now more than ever a reboot would be good for Tenchi, better yet, make one final movie, regardless of continuity and just “end” Tenchi, then Reboot Tenchi without all of the baggage it’s been carrying for 20 years, creating a line in the sand so that people know from that point on “This IS the Tenchi line for the future, if you want anything before it, there’s one final movie and move on” so that everyone else who continues on with Tenchi is on the same page.

What kind of format would Tenchi be coming back as? So far Tenchi has been OVA’s, novels, full length tv series, manga, movies, doujins, 5 minute episodes, and from somewhere on this site, a comic strip. Spiritual successor or reboot, which would it do good on, and how long would it have to run for in order for people to get acquainted to recognize as the current content, that would standalone in the Tenchi-verse.

OVA’s are not the thing anymore, the 5 min eps were too small, and the novels, manga, doujins don’t get translated quickly, until fan does it. Don’t know of anyone besides Tenchi fans that would see a movie, and if it is most likely a standard tv series would it be a 26 or 13 ep length? I could see them making a 13 ep season just to dap everyone into the series, the first two OVA’s add up to 13 eps and everyone remembers those.

A standard 26 episode series would be a little daring in my opinion. True, Tenchi’s formula is throw everything in a mix an not keep still. However, I think a 13 ep would satisfy a new start and make everyone want more which would create a regulated flow of seasons.

This is just my opinion but, Mitsuki was terrible to Kazuki. He was seeing things from a parallel universe which could have got him thrown in a sanatorium. He writes about it like a fiction and it gets him ridiculed and ousted by his peers, while still getting freaked out by mecha battles.

She said she wanted to help, brought him to her house, got him strapped to a chair by her father and was sent to a parallel universe (by the easy to sit on lever). She follows him and gets in a month before, joins a military mech unit and gets cozy with a man that’s not her father and tells Kazuki to go with it when he gets there. So then he fights in the battles he had only seen himself and is told when his side wins, he’ll go home, even though in the series they always defended and didn’t look like they had the advantage to win outright.

My thing is, why isn’t Kazuki even a little angry or enraged at anything? He asked for help and got sent to a parallel world away from his family, and had to fight in the military just to get a deal home. And the girl that supposed to help him just says go with it and acts like she owns the place and him.

This is my opinion, though if you look at the series objectively this is how it is.

The Jurai Empire is the most powerful nation within the Galactic Union. The Jurain Empire is often call Jurai. Earth is located in what seems to be a remote part of Jurain control space. The Earth is technically a Jurain colony which has been given special status. While the major nations of the Earth are aware of Jurai and the Galactic Union, only a few people on Earth are fully aware of the existence of Jurai and the Galactic Union.

Jurai’s greatest rival and ally is the Seniwan Empire. The Seniwan Empire is the second greatest power in the Galactic Union. It is also the largest nation in the Galactic Union. Many members of the Galaxy Police are Seniwans. The Kuramitsu Family is the most powerful family in the Seniwan Empire. Yet it it is likely that the Kuramitsu Family shares its power with the Royal Family.

In the OVA continuity this is for the most part true, in GXP and the last ep of OVA 3 you see this the extent of cooperation an influence of the Seniwan and Jurai elites. Mikami and Seto decide and plan on galatic manners of Balouta territories and pirate guilds. However in the other series is not much we see of the rest of the empire, no other functions or elites or royal family members. I remember in one of the manga’s there is special family that works for the Jurai Royal family under special circumstances, that being royal tree carvers or something.

It is possible that the Jurai’s hierarchy is almost exact as a earth hierarchy, Royal family – branch families – special cases and/or highly trusted people. Line of succession based on family status, and most likely each family or individual with position governs a sector or planet within the Jurai empire.
