Funaho-tree should have died after being planted on Earth. The only thing that kept the tree alive was Washu’s gems (via Tenchi-ken I think, but it has been ages since I looked that up). Should that power be removed, Funaho-tree will die. I have speculated that it might be possible for Funaho-tree to be transplanted back into the special container and reconnect with Tsunami-tree, but there’s nothing I’m aware of that says this can or can’t be done.

As for mutations, something would have to cause said mutation. Just being planted in the ground would not be enough, IMO. But that’s just me. 😉

    Smeg. I’ve made a note to myself to get this updated when I get home. ^_^;;;

BTW, Kajishima-sensei already went the furry route when he did Agga Ruter. ^_~

I don’t know about having Mihoshi for a tutor in close combat fighting, wouldn’t Kiyone have been a better

choice?Just wondering.I mean doesn’t Mihoshi have a bit of a rep. for being a klutz?

A deadly accurate klutz. Remember in OVA 2 when Tenchi, Aeka, and Washu went to Dr. Clay’s ship? They found Mihoshi under attack, but then despite it all, Mihoshi turned the tables and had the octo-bots fleeing.

Plus, don’t forget how she handled the giant snakes in OVA 1 on Kagato’s ship. ^_^

Mihoshi in an anomaly to be sure, but she does have very good skills.

As to the trainers, my understanding is that the next doujinshi will talk about Ryo-ohki’s training of Kenshi. So, it is possible that Tenchi may show up as a trainer as well. As far as 13.08 stated, only Seina opposed sending Kenshi out there, but his opposition was apparently very mild.

I think there are pieces of this puzzle that remain to be filled out because I had the same reaction that you guys had — it seems heartless and cold of Rea to not plan her own return, but to think, “I’ll snag me a man, get pregnant, and send my brat back in my stead.” Of course, one could argue that this is similar to what Yosho did with Tenchi, but Tenchi wasn’t going to a potential war zone like Kenshi was.

Then again, with Tokimi doing reconnaissance and allowing the Tenchi clan to see how things were on Geminar, maybe that was enough to bring the others on board. The training then becomes, “Just in case.” However, it still seems like there is so much more to this.

I see that ANB posed another (albeit not entirely serious) question regarding Tenchi novels shortly after I did.

The thing is, if I do win the big lottery, you can bet that I will be getting in contact with Adam to do this. After all, it would be a vanity project for me that other hardcore fans would benefit from. Returns wouldn’t be on my mind, and I’d have it arranged so that Seven Seas was covered financially so that there would be no loss on their end no matter if I were the only one to purchase a book.

As an aside, Adam and I did discuss the Shin Tenchi Muyo novels years ago. I remember getting very excited that the novels would come over and I believe I probably expressed that to some extent without stating my specific reasons why (for obvious reasons). Then he gave me the bad news that it wasn’t going to happen. I was pretty bummed to be sure, but it was a good, eye opening experience for me.

I’ve mentioned this in the WoG forum, but I figured I’d mention this here as well. Someone provided a summary of the information in 13.08, which I’ve now incorporated into the FAQ for those interested.

OK, we have confirmation on what Chucklocker believed, which I’ve added to the FAQ, along with other nifty information that came out of Tenchi Ban 13.08.

Agga Ruter was kinda like taking the humor parts of TM!R and adding lots of hentai elements. Masquerade, on the other hand, had actual plot reasons for the hentai material, which considering the supernatural aspects of that series, made it different in terms of viewing. Someone told me that the sequel that came out in Japan was also written by Kajishima, but I’ve never been able to confirm this, nor have I watched the sequel.

Anyway, I guess the next news bit from Kajishima-sensei on whatever he’s doing will come at the next Comiket.

Well, all of Kajishima-sensei’s works are said to be “linked at the corner,” but I’m not sure I’d go with “canon” or not, only because it isn’t directly tied to TM!R (unlike War on Geminar).

I did watch it YEARS ago. Had a hard time getting passed the hentai elements, but I seem to recall the story was OK. Masquerade was better though.

    Heh!heh!heh!

Just for the record, would I like to see an OVA 4? You bet! GXP 2? Right on!

But yeah, for all I know, Kajishima-sensei wants to finally finish Agga Ruter after all these years. *lol*

Unfortunately, Kajishima-sensei tends to speak in riddles. I get the feeling that hardcore fans in Japan probably may have more information to fill in some of these gaps, but I won’t swear to that.

As to other “Tenchi” anime titles, I’ve always just seen this as pure speculation. The only thing I’ve seen as being at the top of Kajishima-sensei’s list was always Paradise War. His efforts to get this turned into an anime failed, so he has been forced to write novels, prove the novels are successful, then he’ll have a chance to make a Paradise War anime, though it will be an adaptation, not an original anime, which is what he’s always done to date.

I know a lot of fans still hit me up on TM!R OVA4, but I’ve just never seen that as something really in the cards. Heck, Kajishima-sensei has never even spoken of adapting the three Shin Tenchi Muyo novels into an anime, which I for one would LOVE to see happen. As to a GXP sequel, I’ve never seen that in the works either. The only possible other anime I’ve thought might have a chance is War on Geminar. That’s because there’s still a story of getting Kenshi back to Earth.
