Awwwwww man, my eyes were closed in EVERY ONE of those pics! I swear guys, I WAS actually awake during the others’ segments of the panel! 😆 In all seriousness though, it was a pleasure and a privilege being part of the first official Tenchiforum panel! While it wasn’t perfect (more on that later maybe?), I think we succeeded in what we generally set out to do, and learned a great deal about panel running as well.

Well, I might as well take a shot at unboxing my experience at Ohaycon for anyone who might be interested. First off, the con was amazing! Great panels, great cosplay, and a MINDBLOWINGLY good dealers room!

The most exciting part for me, aside from our panel of course, was my very first cosplay experience! I went as my favorite character from Star Blazers/Space Battleship Yamato: Leader Desslok of Gamilon!

Aside from the incorrect hair color (because I stupidly forgot the coloring spray at home!) I am very pleased with how well it turned out! I had several people recognize me, including the panelists at the Matsumoto panel which was awesome!

I mentioned the AMAZING dealer’s room right? Well just take a look at all the awesome loot I got!

The most exciting of my purchases, Neon Genesis Evangelion Platinum Complete Collection, which I then had signed by all three of the pilots’ voice actors! (First pic: Spike Spencer/Shinji & Amanda Winn Lee/Rei. Second pic: Tiffany Grant/Asuka)

And finally, the prize piece of my acquisitions:

OMG A Desslok figure! I literally lunged for this gem when I caught it out of the corner of my eye!
All in all, a fantastic con! It was also a great capstone having the War on Geminar announcements coming down at the very con we were at! It’s pretty cool that at both of the only two cons I’ve been to (Otakon 2012 & Ohayocon 2013) we got major Tenchi announcements! I must be our good luck charm! :Cheeks: Anyway, I’m very glad that I had the opportunity to go to this great con and meet up with some great people!

From the clip I can only say that I am VERY pleased and excited for this dub! Some rather big names and some brand new faces, both of which make me happy! I can’t wait to hear how the other cast members sound, especially Lithia, Yukine, and Flora! All in all, props to FUNimation for getting a group worthy of the material!

Well, the Wayback Machine has an archived version of the site as it appeared only a few days before being shut down, so grab anything you want while you can.

On to more silly matters! Apparently the lack of female crew members wasn’t lost on the Japanese either, as evidenced by this gender swapped re-imagining done by 80’s star animator Kenichi Sonoda. Be warned, what is seen cannot be unseen!

But more to the point, one thing I would love to see is Omnibus volumes

Hey, now there’s an idea! I hadn’t thought of that before, but it would certainly make it A LOT easier for us fans to get a hold of the entire series cheaply and legally! I haven’t the faintest idea of what it would take for this to happen, but I would venture that now, with the re-emergence of Tenchi in the larger anime fandom, is probably the best time for it to happen until Kajishima’s new Tenchi material (POSSIBLY) hits the western market.

I can’t believe I didn’t remember earlier, but Chex Quest!!!

Oh man, I have never loved a game as much as I loved this game! This game was my first real PC game, and my God how it blew my mind back in the day! Even though it’s a silly PG Doom-clone this game is by far the most influential game I have ever played. It’s the first game that I would play for hours, raging against the difficult parts, discovering all the secret rooms and passages, and otherwise raising hell on my Windows 95 computer! It’s been over a decade since I’ve played it, but I bet I still have that opening video memorized! Who would have ever thought that a game that came in a cereal box could be so awesome! Now please excuse me while I go tear my basement apart looking for that disk so I can relive my childhood!

    Good points Who!

I gave it some more thought, and I remembered that there is at least one sad scene that tears me up every time I watch it: The scene towards the end of Forrest Gump where Forrest is speaking to Jenny at her grave under their tree. God, I’m tearing up just thinking about it now! There are so many absolutely tragic scenes in that movie, but for some reason it’s this one that I feel is really the emotional culmination of Forrest’s story.
