My god, this is awesome, especially Young Yosho. Could this be an inclination that Kain tried to attack Yosho first, realized he couldn’t, and settled on his daughter instead? I wish I knew how to read Japanese solely so I could help translate all of these novels. You do us fans a great service Chaud. Thank you again.

I seriously cannot believe I have one episode to go (and seven minutes of static images) before I finish the second OVA!

Wow, another review down! I’m almost done with OVA 2! http://noneedtoreviewtenchi.blogspot.com/2015/08/tenchi-muyo-episode-eleven-advent-of.html What’s this? We actually have a story with lasting conflict this time around? Astounding! Join me as we see Kajishima’s plot points converge about a woman we only say once before in a dream, see “Ryoko” turn beat red no less that three times, remember that Mihoshi has a job, and realize that despite it all Washu is hilarious. Intrigued? Read more and find out!

Yeah, I get that. I’m just curious what the situation is. Im sure it’s a nod to the design, but I wonder if there could be any other nods to Tenchi’s lore. - August 12, 2015 at 7:18 PM

…is that OVA Kagato? Seriously, I want to read this whole thing so I have the proper context of all of this. The honorifics, again, aren’t my preference, but it doesn’t really matter. It’s still great material.
Thank you Chaud!

Sorry for the lack of updates all. I’ve been having fun with the pregnancy so my writing time has been brought down to zero. However, I hope to finish the Episode 10 review tomorrow and hopefully have it up before the week’s end. It takes a few hours to actually upload and place all of the pictures. The actual recap part is about 90% finished so we will see what I can do. And now you know!

Honestly, the two people in the English translations who insist on anything close to a honorific as Ayeka, who calls Tenchi “Lord” and occasionally Ryoko “miss,” and Washu, with “Little.” It works well with Washu since she is eccentric and with Ayeka since she plays up her nobility. We, as people who understand Sasami’s relationship with Tenchi, can imply the level of respect she has for him by her actions. Her character doesn’t really need the verbal tics unless you are trying to stick 100% to everything from the text. Localizing a bit is not bad depending on what you are doing.

That is awesome. I can’t wait to see how it all comes together in the end. If I had a preference, I’d go with plain old “Tenchi.” We know Sasami’s relationship with Tenchi so it would be more natural for English readers.
But what do I know?

To be fair, nostalgia runs very high, and though a lot of his doujins might be controversial, Kajishima has been keeping Tenchi in the public’s eye in some form. We are living in a nostalgia fueled age that, for better or worse, does not seem to be ending any time soon. Do I see a resurgence of the Tenchi brand? Honestly, no. I wish, but I have doubts. Can it resurface? It most certainly can and probably will.
