Well to begin with I have my birthday coming up on Saturday and will be 53.Hate to admit that. I have been watching anime for around 10 years now,and subs for around 7 or 6 years. When I’m not watching anime
I like to watch shows like House,Alcatraz,Hawaii 5-O,Castle,NCIS,NCIS:LOS ANGELES,Wipeout,Person of Interest,
Who Do You Think You Are?Fringe, etc.
I also follow sports but mainly Minnesota and Seattle teams.Since the Sonics parted ways with Seattle I have been
following the Jazz and Bulls mainly.
I also live in northeastern Washington state, just north of Spokane.
Sundays I attend the local United Church of Christ, which might surprise some people since I also vote Republican.
😆 Currently I have no pets, but in the past I had had both dogs and cats.
When it comes to non-anime cartoons I perfer the classics like The Flintstones,The Jetsons,Archie,Josie And The Pussycats,
Tennessee Tuxedo,Huckleberry Hound,etc.
I’m also your basic Northwestern European mix:Scottish-Irish-Welsh-English-French-Swiss-German-Dutch(Flemish)
I’m into genealogy and trying hard to get my own pedigree down. But as I have found out it’s not rocket science and have
to keep changing what I have every now and then.
One of my other interests outside of anime is the American Civil War,since I had relatives on both sides. :fight:

I watched the live action Cutie Honey movie yesterday.I started with the making of.And now I know why Gendo Ikari looks that way,as they had scenes with Anno Hideki in them in the making of.Also Go Nagai did a Stan Lee and was in a cameo.
It’s the scene where
Overall this was a fun film to watch. Not Great Art,but more fun on the lines of the 1960s Batman movie.Honey is thrown from Jill Tower and lands squarely in the middle of Go Nagai’s winshield.Yeah any movie where the heroine is shown
in a bubble bath and then running around in garbage bags.
is going to be a bit silly. But then again it was fun for all the silliness. That and Natusko aka Nat-chan.I couldn’t tell who I liked better Honey or Nat-chan.

You could charge your friends money to watch.I’m certain the Ferengi must have a Rule of Aquistion that covers your situation somewheres.

Two words:Man Faye…. :ghost: And please let us not go there…The very thought of anyone over 200 pounds dressing up as a female anime character
scares me.

I think though that a lot of other pawn dealers just either don’t have the time or simply don’t care about the quality of what gets brought in to them, which is why there should always be a caveat about buying anything, wheter anime
or something else from a regular pawn shop. Not that they try to cheat on you, although there are some out there that
do.
Yes,Rick and company do a lot of research and they have their experts like the guy from Clark co. Historical Society to
back them up.
Any ways,I think threads like this are helpful in educating people about what to look for so they don’t get cheated when
it comes to bootlegs.Though I’m surprised the way some people who don’t like fansubs will easily admit to owning bootlegs.
To me bootlegs actually hurt the anime industry more than fansubs because the people who are bootlegging are out for
money.

To get back on subject, even the best looking bootlegs will have some noticeable difference from the ‘legit’ version. For example I was lurking around Animenation forum and one of their members had pics of some anime they had
bought at a pawn shop.Among the dvds were the two sets of Buso Renkin.
At first they looked legit, but then I took a look at my own copies and they didn’t have the red SJ in the upper left
hand corners the ones in the photo did.Instead there was a small Shonen Jump in the center.
Also the poster said that the entire set of dvds, including the two Buso Renkin boxsets only cost them $60.
Pawn Shops being what they are it be easy to get fooled into buying a bootleg without knowing what you’re looking for.
(Not every pawn shop owner is like the guys on Pawn Stars)
