- in reply to: What if Dagon continued Tenchi Universe
First off, absolutely excellent idea to continue Universe in a fashion that is a retelling of OVA-2 and 3. The Hasegawa aspects also just add extra umph that just works hand in hand. One thing I always liked to point out about OVA 2 and 3 were not only the plot structure(or lack thereof) but the hidden gems that were EXCELLENT to play on more, that never got the proper light and attention they needed. You had referenced this with Z being pigeonholed massively in OVA 3 and you bringing him into full light and detail is something I really wanted, since he had the potential of being probably one of my favorite villains in the entire franchise. Also kudos to the work you are pulling off in general, continuing Universe is a pretty big feat to do, especially since I never thought of continuing it the way you are/have.
One thing that stuck out to me most, was the backstory that has been brought in. Not only do you have the Space Pirate Queen, but bringing in the entire background to Ryoko (which is pretty much absent in Universe) and going in detail more on the GP officers and their backstories as well. Bringing in this newfound depth that was absent prior is something I really found awesome.
Also, and you have given me this comment as well, the characters and the actions they do, even the new ones just feel right, and in place; which is a key component in the story itself. Having Tenchi captured was a funny scene to me and even without looking at the comments afterward, I instantly thought of OVA 1 with Sasami’s introduction, and meeting Seiran being a similar parallel.
My ideas though, and I am currently searching through the banks of my old gaming account on EVE and a few other sites, is the spacy name for the treasure, but other than that, I could see perhaps Zed having some kind of anti-jurai energy similar to Kain, making him even more formiddable in the long run?
If you ever need any more suggestion or ideas feel free to message me about it and I will see what I can come up with

I thank you for the awesome compliment, its flattering *^^*. I really am trying hard with it though, to keep it similar to the old OVA style while bringing a new aspect into the playing field.^^ As you read feel free to post replies on each chapter, I actually will be putting up a new one tomorrow definitely^^. Also, if you are a fan of Universe, you may wanna check out some of our member evilpii’s stuff. ^^
I agree with your statement as well, go into anything new with an open mind. You don’t have to have your expectations high, just ready to see something change for the better.^^

Watanabe has yet to disappoint me with his creations thus far.^^ Seeing how most of his shows are based more on the deep thinking, question of morality aspect, as well as kick-ass action, I am interested to see how this should turn out since it follows more along the lines of comedy. I guarantee that even with the comedy it will raise awesome questions and a spectacular plot in and of itself. The main character already seems to be very likeable as is ^^.
I am excited too, and can’t wait!

Who, I can tell you that the video is from the Pretty Sammy OVA. It was the second episode I believe, where they had to stop a madman who owned/created a new computer system. On another note I am pretty knowledgeable of the series itself, but I do need to watch Pretty Sammy TV again just to refresh myself.
All in all the heart of the story is in the OVA itself, but if we discuss some of the other characters and their positions (Oryo, and Romio) then the TV show is a must to watch to have much to say on it.
On another note, JG I think having seen the ties I agree is an interesting take on it, and I personally would like to hear it come to light more ^^.
All in all, as stated before, I am up for this one, but if space becomes an issue in any way I will sit out for anyone who wishes to be in it.
Also I’d like to state I haven’t watched Sasami Magical Girls Club since the first time, which was… :WUTH:

In watching Eva and the movie, and even up to 1.0 I must say it has become a definite influential show and milestone in anime that I have reached. For one, The End of EVA has left me close to having psychosis .-.
Secondly, I tend to watch animes for their rich mythos and character development and the constant ties within the show and this show pretty much hit a high note on every single note that can be hit.
It is definitely in one of my all time favorite series after having watched it, if not in my top three. I have yet to watch 2.0 and 3.0 but…soon/eventually I shall.

- in reply to: Trees of Jurai
In the case of the trees, I am not fully certain as to why the would not have recognized the energy. In the OVA it could beg the question as to Ryoko’s energy being within the tree, if that perhaps pulled a mask over the Juraian energy itself, and was put off as just perhaps “taint” of her energy? In Universe, I peronally find it solidified to think of the Camellia tree to have projected its energy all at once into all the other trees, therefore Ryu-oh not being able to pinpoint where it is exactly happening. However, in other cases, perhaps it is how it was stated between Pii and I that Ryu-Oh tried to communicate but didn’t get a response and put it off as normal for the world to have energy of sorts(considering to Ryu-Oh and Ayeka that Earth is an alien planet to them.)
Also you bring up a point that it was dying and that could be a way to mask its energy; however with the company at the household, The Camellia could have fed off of some of the energy, building itself slowly into making a dimension for its owner.
In terms of the trees conversing, it may be acts of energy transmission, or certain patterns of common plant communication with standard trees, but on a more ethereal matter that would pertain to Juraian energy. Essentially, trees(plants in general) can share and act out releasing or ensnaring chemicals and use the wind as a carrier.
Having this known; the Juraian trees perhaps do it similarly but as stated in a more ethereal way.
Perhaps they communicate much like a person would do so if they had telepathy. They would converse over their masters perhaps? Hell to open another thing to breach into you could bring up the fact that perhaps in communicating, their “messages” go right to the source to communicate, much like the center of the database.

- in reply to: Notice any Code Geass influence
Ahh Code Geass, an old obsession of mine for a time As for the resemblances, it was one of the few things I noticed indefinitely since I had watched Code Geass months before even watching SKT. Doll I admit has some similarities, although in my opinion this pertains to the new way anime has often recycled archetypes for characters and even some appearances(note that this is the way I have seen it, and in no way am bashing on either show of course).
More proof of this is Chiaia’s resemblance to Kallen, which of course is very easy to spot with the hairstyle and color. Vedella certainly looks like Aura save for the eyes and ears.
Kajishima may have done some looking at other mech anime during his time, although I dont know how long these characters have been in existence. They may have been pulled up in Doujins or novels I haven’t read. Regardless, a lot of authors base characters from some inspiration from another source, and this may have been the case.
Hah, if it isn’t then it sure as hell is a huge weird coincidence
