I admit, I haven’t seen AO, or most of Eureka 7 for that matter. Everything I know about Episode 51 is stuff I’ve heard from others, including the part about it not being canon. Maybe they were wrong, I don’t really know. But they seemed pretty sure of themselves when they claimed AO followed the original TV ending.

I also thought it would just be odd for them to make a sequel that continues off such an obscure episode that seemingly few people have actually seen, or even know about. Although, I suppose it would be more well known in Japan.

If AO does indeed follow after episode 51, I would hope that FUNi try to include it in their release, assuming they even know about it…

EDIT: Ok, did some more research. Now I’m hearing Episode 51 is an adaptation of the manga’s ending :? , which apparently differed from the TV ending, and that you’re right that this is indeed the ending AO follows after. I think. Its hard to seperate fact from all the speculation. This is also the first time I’ve heard mention of the manga ending with regards to Ep.51, which I haven’t read and wasn’t aware was different.

Is episode 51 an epilogue sort of story? It seems to me that episode 50 pretty much concluded the original series.

Its more of an alternate ending that ignores the last few episodes. Technically its not even a proper “episode”, at least it wasn’t at first. IIRC it was an audio drama that years later was edited into an episode using existing footage from the TV series. This was fairly recent however, long after Bandai USA released the show on DVD (otherwise they probably would’ve included it), which is why so few have seen it or even know about it. But AO still follows the original TV ending, not this alternate ending.

Oh, I see. I haven’t made it that far yet. Heck, it even says Sasha in the title, which I just assumed was a typo or something 🙄. Silly me 😆

But that is Starsha that shows up towards the end right?

Heres a little Yamato tidbit from NYCC:

At FUNimation panel, asked about Yamato Resurrection. They’re still working out if they can/will release both cuts of the film #NYCC

Hopefully FUNi will be able to include both versions. The theatrical/directors cuts each have completely different endings don’t they?

Well… I dunno. AS doesn’t often announce shows that will be airing, new stuff usually just shows up on the schedule a week or two out. But they have said that they can’t afford movies for the forseeable future, so the E7 movie wont happen for awhile, if ever.

Personally, I couldn’t care less if they never show the movie. I hated it. Being a reboot (as opposed to a sequel/prequel), it was completely pointless, and I didn’t like the direction they took the new story in. The animation was great, but thats about the only positive thing I have to say about it.

Now if someone would do something about resurrecting classic ’80s series like KOR…

People expressed interest in Nozomi Entertainment to do so, but that’s not saying much. Don’t expect Toho Company to grant distribution rights to high profile productions that aren’t Godzilla or standalone anime movies. Hell, ADV Films couldn’t even get the rights to DYRL.

Too bad Geneon is gone. IIRC, they had distribution rights for Urusei Yatsura in the motherland, and could have released box set collections here when AnimEigo’s license expired…

To my knowledge, ADVs release of Macross had nothing to do with Toei, they sublicensed that and Robotech straight from thte bungholes at Harmony Gold. But lets not get into the whole Macross/HG fiasco.

They’re rerunning the original. AO hasn’t even finished airing in Japan yet. But I assume they’re doing it in preperation for when AO does finally get dubbed, so they can air it.
