While not on Toonami, Tenchi Muyo in Love did have its US premiere on the Sci-Fi (now Syfy) Channel WAY back in 1996.

Oh, Soundmonkey said LONG episodes. I missed that part and was referring mostly to just the regular length OVA episodes, which themselves are longer than usual at ~30 min, and probably had to be edited for both time and content. My mistake… embarrassmentplz

Soundmonkey44 wrote:What did they do for the original Tenchi OVA eps that were long when they aired on Toonami, didn’t they just divide em up and air different parts on different days? I guess they could do something like that, split each OVA ep in half or somesuch.. Or they could just give it the hour thats currently reruns. But yeah, would be much easier to do if Toonami started earlier, oh well, all things in time my friends.
Well, the episodes were heavily edited after all. They probably just removed enough footage to get the episodes down to the proper length. I didn’t watch Tenchi on Toonami so some of this is speculation on my part, but based on what Toonami did to other shows: the OP was removed, the ED was either removed entirely or shortened, the next episode preview was probably removed (we’re almost 3-4 min. off the runtime already). They cut some lines out as well (and if need be, the lip movements when those lines were spoken) as well afew seconds of questionable or inappropriate footage here and there. They may also have shaved down on extraneous scenes too (like panning shots, scenery, etc.)
In the end all those tiny edits add up and bring down the runtime from 30 minutes to a more standard 22-25 minutes.

Oh man, that was fantastic! Nice job! awesomenessplz Any Final Fight fans here? Behold, the Ballad of Mike Haggar:

Funny story.
Shortly after I watched this I watched the giant monster movie Gamera: Guardian of the Universe. Theres a part towards the end where Gamera throws an enemy monster up into space, and I said to my brother (who was watching it with me) “wouldn’t it be awesome if Gamera piledrives that monster all the way back down to earth like Mike Haggar did in that youtube video?” Well…it happened, more or less, and it looked exactly like it does in the Haggar video. We fell out of our seats and must’ve been rolling around laughing for 10 minutes straight. One of the funniest things I’ve ever seen.- September 17, 2012 at 10:43 PM

Heaven’s Lost Property is definitely worth checking out. I went into it assuming it would be just another mediocre ecchi rom-com. To my pleasant surprise, I was wrong. Its a very funny and very entertaining ecchi rom-com, with an interesting plot. Its not all fun and games though, it also had some surprisingly serious moments and several infrequent (but awesome, and well animated) fight scenes to offset the comedy. I give it an 8 out of 10.
If you’re still not convinced, check out this awesome fanmade Toonami intro for it. If that doesn’t make you want to watch this show I don’t know what will.

Soundmonkey44 wrote:Honestly i’ve been wanting to check out Oh My Goddess for YEARS, but sadly I can never hunt down the DVDs or Manga, I know its kind of split, AniEgo has some (I think) then Media Balsters & Funimation.
I know Darkhorse does the manga, may see if I can still get it at a reasonable price at Amazon next time I get around to buying a gift-card.
But yeah those are some pretty nice ops & eds.
Yeah, it can be kinda confusing when multiple companies handle different parts of the same series. But fear not! With my expansive knowledge of Ah/Oh My Goddess I’ll try to set things straight
😉 AnimEigo had the 5-episode 90’s OVA. Went OOP a few years ago. Used to go for ridiculously high prices, but Amazon surprisingly restocked the Collector Edition set for $35.99 a few weeks ago. If you want it, go buy it now!(the OVAs had Oh in the title, just like the manga)
Geneon had the theatrical film. Long OOP, new copies are very costly but decent used copies can be found for pretty cheap (the movie along with the TV series have Ah in the title for the US release, instead of Oh)
Geneon also had the Adventures of the Mini-Goddess spinoff. It was a comedy starring chibi version of the characters. It was ok, but I’m not a huge fan of this one. Its also OOP and fairly expensive, though Rightstuf did have it in stock for a good price until just a few months ago.
Media Blasters had Season 1 of the TV series. Recently went OOP. Boxsets are very expensive. If their license hasn’t lapsed it may get a reprint, but if it has I don’t see those prices dropping anytime soon. You might be able to hunt down the singles for decent prices.
FUNimation currently has Season 2 (though it used to be in ADVs hands). Still in print. The set got relegated to the S.A.V.E line and can be found for less than $20.
Hmm, I just remembered that this thread is supposed to be about soundtracks, forgive me if I’ve gone too far off topic.

Since I’m a huge Ah! My Goddess fan I feel saddened that no one has posted any music from it (at least, none of the working links). Allow me to rectify that. Season 1 OP

Not anime in general, no. I’ve been burned out on specific titles, but if that happens I’ll just drop it and move on to something else. I might go back to it later, but usually not.
