[BBvideo]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FKr9MYpTLbs [/BBvideo] Synopsis:
In the year (2009) in Majisuka Jyogakuen, an all girls “yankee” highschool, somewhere in Japan. Rumor is spreading about a new transfer student coming who’s supposed to be some great fighter. Daruma shows up and immediately beats the freshman guards. Atsuko meets up with her in their new class. Later, Daruma ascends the stairs and challenges the ruling group “Rappappa” of the school and gets beaten easily in 7s. Meanwhile Atsuko tries to use the library which is actually used as a battle ring. She gets mugged by Team Hormone. Atsuko runs into the hurt Daruma lying on the ground who grabbed her leg. Atsuko drags Daruma to the infirmary. The next day Daruma’s defeat has made the rounds and Team Hormone intends to put her in her place. Atsuko had retreated to the stairs when Team Hormone drags Daruma by for some more a beating. Team Hormone’s bullying, and slandering attitude finally made Atsuko voice her mind. She’s immediately attacked. The camera shot changes to the inside of the building from where only the rough shadows of the fight are visible. It’s a massacre. Shortly afterwards, Sado walks by noticing something amiss and looks out. She’s shocked by the mess in front of her.
Daruma’s cowering in the corner, shocked and in disbelief of what happened before her eyes.

Majisuka Gakuen[BBvideo 425,350]
[/BBvideo]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CjgDfXMh2dw TYPE: drama
GENRE: shojo yankee
YEAR: 2010-Jan-08 to 2010-Mar-26
Cast: AKB48
Intro:
Majisuka Gakuen is the first show in a series of shows about delinquent school girls and their struggles. The show was filmed in the second half of 2009.
Summary:
Majisuka Gakuen 1 is about Atsuko who is transferred to a delinquent highschool she didn’t aimed for. She has lost meaning in life and only exists to keep her promise. Through conflict, suffering and fights she rediscovers her way in life at yet another loss.
Critique:
Story wise it’s your typical fighting/delinquent type of story. It’s about average and cannot compete with GTO. However, the AKB48 cast are what’s driving the show. This show has one of the highest well chosen cast I have seen even better than GTO. The majority of which performed their role nearly perfectly. They aren’t at their best, though, as there aren’t that many different opportunities. It’s nonetheless very enjoyable to watch the show. The thing I dislike the most are the huge number of cuts and flashes. This is mostly due to the fact that the AKB48 cast are far from martial artists. Their stunts are contact-less. I would liked to have a cleaner OP, too.
Verdict: 8.7
cast: 9.5, very fitting
cast performance: 9.5 very good
script/directing: 7

I haven’t watched Kimi ni Todoke. Well, I haven’t watched that many Lve Actions lately. In any case, for you it’s a brave new world.
I guess I will put up a quick list of the
old onesfrom the top of my head. It’s been a long time since last so memory isn’t as fresh. Don’t blame me if you get bewitched. π The bests I can recommend:
Live Actions:
GTO (jap.)
You are under arrest (jap.)
Hana Yori Dango (jap.)or(korean), either versions are good, just cultural specific differences
Sailor Moon (depends on cast-seasons / preferences)
I haven’t seen a lot of the old japanese dramas. I know some are really good but it wasn’t easy to get hold of any of them in the past. But I have seen the more “recent” koreans back then.
Dramas:
(Invincible Parachute Agent)KSAMovies:
My Sassy Girl
A Moment To Remember
There are more but neither do I remember them all or they aren’t one-shot kills like above.

Love Exposure/Ai no Mukidashihttp://i1370.photobucket.com/albums/ag254/jashiman/JDorama/Love%20Exposure-Ai%20no%20Mukidashi/cover1-02_zps69cf40ad.png" /> TYPE: movie
GENRE: romance
YEAR: 2008
Intro:
This movie is about the formation of a love triangle from the perspective of each of the three involved: Yu, Koike, and Yoko.
Summary:
Yu is a youth who tries too hard to be a rebel committing “sins” and ends up becoming a pervert/crossdresser etc. as well as with a love triangle.
Koike is one of his panty shot victim and gets interested in him. The problem is she’s also very popular with other guys.
Yoko is an adopted daughter of Yu’s father’s old flame.
All of the main characters have family issues, the reason for their being what they are.
Critique:
As you can see there are lots of conflict points with each character and the movie does show them. Aside from the perverted scenes the movie is mostly quite good. It uses new ways of movie making techniques not seen in Japanese movies before. They are not new in the world, in anime or games but it’s a definite departure from the typical Japanese ways you see. The actor’s/actresses’ performances are in part from great to impressive. Overall it’s one of the best if not best japanese romance movie I have seen so far.
Be warned, though. It’s 4 hours long and will bear on your mind in some way. You might not be able to sleep well. And I don’t mean the perverted parts which are actually not that many or dominating. I didn’t elect to watch it because of it. It was actually kind of surprising after the first hour.
Verdict: 9
cast: 9, well fitting
cast performance: 9.5 very good
script/directing: 8.5

SilverWhisper wrote:People say Kimagure Orange Road is overrated considering how old it is, but it’s still a classic. Is it one of the best animes ever made? Maybe.
Surely, if you consider that romance anime until then was more like “Lady Oscar”; and the only other modern alternatives were Maison Ikkoku, Urusei Yatsura and Adachi’s Touch and Miyuki. All later romance anime/manga use the same story events as in those or KOR. Large series like Ranma or Salad Days that have similar amount of (similar) stories came later, too.

It appears the first KOR tape is damaged and I don’t dare touching the rest. The player isn’t reliable anymore. My first digital backup is crap in today’s standard but fear not I did put a lot of effort in a better one. badass1 I would like to say there’s no problem with PSME! and PGSM but most of those old stuff are in storage. No choice but to go with the alternatives. See PM.
Well, I need to replace my CF, Miyuki, MHY tapes even these days there’s a stark lack of some old classics.

Don’t forget the classic Mermaid Saga, it’s old by now and is a collection of folktales more or less. Don’t remember it all in details anymore. I think the anime is abridged. - November 25, 2014 at 11:48 PM

Ah the Densetsu no Yusha no Densetsu show it’s already years but all in all the anime is kind of monotone and slow paced at times. It fails to capitalize on the relationship between Ryner and Ferris. Even after 20(?) eps it didn’t get far. You are better off with the light novels (fan translations). It doesn’t suck but it’s not that good either.
