    So will the Usual Suspects(tm) be in it? I mean the seiyuus who play the characters.

    I will be curious to see how Nobuyuki and Katsuhito are voiced now. The Japanese are pretty good at getting replacements that are close to the original seiyuu. (In the case of Lupin III, amazingly so for Lupin’s character.)

    When it comes to the 5-minute episodes, I’d look to things like the Chuunibyou shorts or other series that have had 5 minute shorts. Two minutes of these things (give or take) are dedicated to credits. :-(

    Basically, assuming the contents of -If- are what’s going to happen, we’ll get 50, small slice-of-life episodes, focusing on comedy more than anything.

    This looks awesome! Assuming it’s done right, but more Tenchi is never a bad thing. It’s kind of bittersweet to me that Tenchi ends up having daughters with both Ryoko and Ayeka. I’ve always been very pro Ryoko and Tenchi and always felt that him and Ryoko were always meant to end up together but I’ll take the good with the bad i guess. It just seems out of character for them to share him

    Not really. Ryoko’s and Aeka’s relationship changes quite a bit from their encounter in OVA 1, episode 2. When they thought Tenchi was dead in OVA 1, episode 6, they formed a bond because of Tenchi as they went to battle Kagato together. From that time on, Ryoko still loves to tease Aeka, and Aeka loves doing things to Ryoko, but their bond grew, even more so because of Noike’s arrival as Tenchi’s official fiancee.

    My point exactly.

    Not even sure if this type of relationship goes on with Jurai royal family. And I doubt Ryoko is the type of person to share him with her. That’s what bothers me the most about all this

    Heh! You need to rewatch the series. I’m having to go on memory (I’m not were I can check the episodes at the moment), but I think it was OVA 1 episode 7 where Ryoko clearly stated she’d be willing to share Tenchi with Aeka. It was Aeka’s response to such a suggestion that caused them to have their fight that ultimately had them both out in the lake.

    As for Jurai being for such a thing, (1) Aeka’s and Sasami’s father has two wives, and (2) there was a massive wedding on the dark side of the moon for Seina and his harem (GXP), at which many important Juraians were in attendance. ^_~

    Well, that is the one frustrating part of Kajishima-sensei’s blurbs — sometimes, his words could mean one thing or could mean another. Only he knows for sure.

    That being said, if there is another anime project, it would likely be Paradise War since the novels seem to be going well. However, saying that -IF- is attached to an anime project is good news itself.

    Based on how I’m reading the blurb from 13.12, this is the proposed new TM!R anime in storyboard form.

    To me, it sounds very much like IF is the new TM!R anime project. Man, would that ever be sweet.

    As for ISM, I’d like to see it get another anime as well. I can’t tell if Kajishima-sensei is planning to make sequels, as happened with TM!R, or if he’s just going to do doujinshi, as he has been doing with TM!R. ^_^;

    Update: OK, I reread this a few time. While I do think that Kajishima-sensei is pitching -If- as a new anime project, I think the “anime project” he’s talking about is actually Paradise War, which he has been trying to get going for some time now.

    Also, I now see that he’s only planning to do written sequel stuff (doujinshi, maybe novels) with ISM.

    Aeka has to be at least third or fourth or close that would be my guess.And wouldn’t Sasami take herself out because of being merged with Tsuname?

    Yes, Sasami takes herself out of the running, otherwise she’d be first in line as the partner of Tsunami-ki.

    Well, we lost a couple of the doujinshi pages but oh well.

    I wish my finances were in better shape as I’d be getting copies of these as well. I am looking forward to seeing them though. ^_^

    Ultimately, the person for the canon TM!R line to decide on a reboot or not is Kajishima-sensei, and I just can’t see him wanting to do one. He’s wanting to do Paradise War, but was denied until the powers that be see how well his novel line does.

    Sadly, Kajishima-sensei has never even expressed a desire to have his three Shin Tenchi Muyo novels put into anime form. He’s been reluctant to do an OVA 4 because the stories would be as they are glimpsed at in -If- (as I understand what he’s said).

    AIC would be the one to allow new Tenchi titles. I never knew why they didn’t adapt all of Hasegawa-sensei’s very popular line of spinoff novels that branch out from OVA 1. They just did the one movie. The last spinoff AIC did was the Sasami: Mahou Shoujo Club anime series.

    My ultimate reboot fantasy is to have massive funds to do a proper, live-action adaptation of the TM!R story, incorporating all of the elements into the story, thus making things flow better, especially into the OVA 3 part of the story. However, that too will never happen. ^_^;;;

    Well, we are getting way off topic. That being said, there are several series that people would LOVE to see reboots of, but which will NEVER happen because the Japanaese don’t do a lot of reboots. Negima! and Love Hina are two that I’m aware of where there’s not going to be any reboots despite them both being highly popular (the reboots would allow them to accurately cover the manga rather than what they ultimately did). Ditto Fruits Basket or Kara Kano, though in fairness, the manga-ka for both series refused to allow reboots, sequels, or anything else. There are other titles where folks have wanted reboots to “get it right,” but have been denied, or at best (as in the case of Negima!), some OVA’s/movies were tossed their way.

    I have NO bias against reboots. I loved the FMA reboot except for the fact that they rushed through and cut some elements from the beginning, apparently out of fear of boring an audience who’d seen the first FMA.

    As I see it, when the Japanese, who are very set in their ways about things, make a decision about a reboot, they mostly go with “no” because they don’t believe that the cost required to do a reboot is justified in what they think they’ll get in returns. Instead, they’ll keep milking money from old stuff, which in the case of TM!R, was an impressive Blu-ray release, and an ultra-expensive LE one at that.
