I’m not even sure they have the money to get the license! VIZ has been holding onto it and airing it on their service Neon Alley.

I still have mixed feelings about this. On the one hand, it’s what I wanted for a verylong time. On the other, well… of course it’s never going to be the same. I’ve grown up and my interests have changed. I tune in sporadically and keep up the news, but I have yet to – nor do I see myself – tuning in on a regular basis. - January 7, 2013 at 8:01 AM

Oops. FUNi, stop taking lessons from Capcom! - December 14, 2012 at 12:23 AM

I think someone mentioned earlier how TiT felt like it could have been a sequel to Universe continuity things aside. Honestly, I would love to see a retooled version of it that works in the Universe universe. I was going to write a fanfiction like that myself, but things happen. Meaning I’m lazy. I wouldn’t buy one at that price but I can say the Zero picture probably works best on a shirt. Not that I blame you for the prices or anything, I know that’s not your fault.

Yeah, it was ratings POISON man. Glad they’re moving it, though I didn’t look up what’s replacing it. - December 4, 2012 at 12:44 AM

Well despite the art used on the front, that’s actually a set for Tenchi in Tokyo. They must have taken the “shin” to mean that. There’s another one with a similar case for Tenchi Universe, only it’s a darker blue and… I think uses OVA art. Damn pirates! - December 3, 2012 at 6:28 PM

I have to admit I don’t regret my bootleg sets. I bought them 7 or so years ago (wow!) and they look great on my shelf. It’s such a shame that the packaging is SO nice (engrish aside) but that the discs are so cheaply made… the layer breaks on some of them are so bad I have DVD players that won’t make the transfer and send me back to the menu! At least they aredual-layer. Apparently a lot aren’t. There’s a TU bootleg in the style of the one labeled “NEW Tenchi” that I have that isn’t shown here. I’ll try and find a picture.
Given the choice I’d buy the real deal now, of course. But hey – not letting go of my autographed sets anytime soon.

Well, I went through the comics today and my reception is fairly mid-level to it. I could tell the writers were familiar with the universe, at the least. Ryoko fans, this is for you: the Ayeka bitch factor goes waaayup. She frequently refers to Ryoko as an “animal” and is just unlikeable, period. I know TU took it up a notch and that this is meant to take place in that universe, but man oh man. Jeez. That said, it did have its good parts: -The original characters all seemed like they’d fit in the TU universe. Rob and Inferno were actually kind of cool.
-Everyone except Ayeka was pretty in character. Mihoshi’s ditz level might be closer to the Tokyo level, but it’s been awhile since I’ve seen TU so I might be wrong on that. Loved seeing Washu’s ego.
-The art, when on model, looks great. It’s obviously less manga-esque than Okuda’s, but I think it might match the anime’s style more than his. He was a big fan of large eyes and smaller proportions. That said, there’s a few times where the drawings get wonky.
My biggest problem? Too short! I felt like they dealt with Inferno too quickly. I wonder how the pacing would have transferred to an episode of the anime.
The verdict: worth your time, but not on the same level that NNFT is.

I wouldn’t get your hopes up based on an ad alone. Back when FUNi sold DBZ in widescreen, they used screenshots from their original *PROPER* 4:3 singles releases on the boxes. Thank God for the Dragonbox… though I held off on them because of lack of dub score. Just glad we have ’em.
