This worked only if the Tenchi cast is actually in it. I don’t see them

Dagon123 wrote:One of the things I have a hard time with is also Eastern vs Western adaptation, because the western adaptation would invariably be white-washed, and also try and change everything to fit into a stereotypically money-making but generic movie with elements from Tenchi, I’d love to say that wouldn’t happen, but Hollywood’s track record hasn’t exactly been great to anime.
The only reason I bring that up is because a western adaptation would be completely western, and an eastern one comprised of all eastern casts.
Director: Either Joss Whedon or James Cameron
Joss Whedon because he owes anime a part of his career (literally), but in saying that, he knows how to take eastern elements and make them work to more mainstream western audiences, so Tenchi would be something I think he could really do.
James Cameron because, well, James Cameron is one of the greatest Sci-Fi directors to ever direct, period, and IF ANYONE could do justice to the Sci-Fantasy epic that is Tenchi Muyo, it would be him.
Another thing I would like to see (and what ADV had in mind when they had (has?) the Evangelion live action movie, was have some of the original english voice acting cast make cameos, I think it would be only fitting that at least once, each of the girls would run into someone in a store or someone during the movie who would actually be Petrea Burchard or Sherry Lynn, as a nice homage to the fans showing this movie knows where it came from.
I really don’t know who to cast for everybody really, but that’s my 2 cents.
Those are also why I think Whedon or Cameron are good choices to direct.
As for music, I went with Steven Jablonsky due to his work on Transformers and Battleship, as I believe for my vision he can make a good convincing soundtrack.
As for trailer music, The Glitch Mob – “Becoming Harmonious (feat. Metal Mother)” from “Edge of Tomorrow” Trailer #2:

Thought up another idea: A crossover with The Big Bang Theory, called “No Need for Sheldon Cooper,” in which either a.) Sheldon, Raj, Howard, Penny, and Leonard end up staying at the Misaki Shrine after losing their passports while on vacation (no thanks to Sheldon Cooper), and chaos ensues and that’s even before they find out the girls are aliens. It gets worse when they do find out. Or. b.) Sheldon Cooper goes to Japan to confront someone he met on a science forum over an argument about string theory – someone by the forum name “CuteCrabGirl” (three guesses who that is >).
Either way, Sheldon would drive Tenchi & Gang crazy.
SHELDON: “You’re in my spot.”

Scriptwriter:Joss Whedon
Music and songs composed by:Yoko Kanno
Insert songs:Sung by Maaya Sakamoto
Cast:Ming-Na Wen as Kiyone
Johnny Depp as Yosho
Sarah Michelle Gellar as Ryoko
And that’s all I can think of for now castwise.
Synopsis:While chasing the renowned Intergalactic thief Ryoko to Earth Kiyone’s ship is damaged and she is forced to
land near the Masaki shrine. There she faces off against Ryoko in a final battle where both girls are seriously wounded.
Ryoko manages to slip away to a hideout where she has ready for such an emergency.
Later Tenchi coming home from school encounters the wounded Kiyone and manages to half carry her home with him.
What Kiyone doesn’t suspect or know is that her long lost partner Mihoshi is already staying at the Masaki Shrine having
crashlanded there two years earlier.
The reunion turns out to be none the happiest as Mihoshi is still the total klutz.
Meanwhile objects begin to disappear from the area around the shrine, with the help of Tenchi and his grandfather the two
GP dectectives manage to trace the missing articles to the cave where Ryoko is in hiding.
After a brief fight Ryoko decides to surrender after catching sight of Tenchi.
Meanwhile a UFO is reported by locals and it unexpectedly attacks the Masaki Shrine…
Johnny Depp as Yosho…. I think it can be done. playing an old man who’s a jurai prince would be a interesting role for Depp. I like it.
What about Ayeka, Sasami, and Washu? What’s their role in your vision?

One night in mumble we actually had quite the extensive discussion stemming from

Can’t remember everything, but I do remember our suggestion for live-action Ryoko!

While the thread and mumble discussion focused more on Disney, I like this opportunity to form a “dream team” for a live-action adaptation. I don’t have time to list all the criteria, but here goes:
DIRECTOR:Wong Kar-wai ( In the Mood for Love(2000)). Though perhaps best known for aforementioned romance piece, via 2046(2004) Wong demonstrates his ability to also engage in sci-fi, and in my vision of a live-action adaptation of Tenchi Muyo!the emphasis would be on romance and less on the more fantastic elements (because let’s face it, there are still things that can only be pulled off via animation, and trying to literally bring to live action certain facets of the franchise seems ill-fated to me). 2046…why didn’t I think of that?…Still, that’s a good choice, Who.

If I were to run Toonami? Well, since it’s currently in the Saturday 11:30-6:00 run, that’s 13 shows. Well, for one thing,
no Star Wars. That Clone Wars series should stay in the daytime. No non-anime American cartoons (Boondocks is the exception, though), so Sym-Bionic Titan is also out. Anime only. And these are the anime I would put on the run:
11:30:The Boondocks 12:00:Super Dimension Fortress Macross (2006 English dub) 12:30:Accel World 1:00:Gundam 00 1:30:Outlaw Star (uncensored/uncut version) 2:00:Cowboy Bebop 2:30:Gurren Lagaan 3:00:Tenchi Muyo!/Tenchi Universe/Tenchi in Tokyo (uncensored/uncut versions) 3:30:Love Hina 4:00:VanDread 4:30:Geneshaft 5:00:Hell Girl 5:30:InuYasha: The Final Act - April 17, 2014 at 1:45 AM

😆 I suppose Urd might be able to give Ryoko a hands up on how to win Tenchi’s affections by selling her a love potion.
I’m surprised none of us as so far come up with the ultimate crossover featuring Mihoshi:
Tenchi/ Gilligan’s Island. 😆 But are we really prepared for Gilligan and Mihoshi together? Is there enough insurance in the Multiverse to insure the
chaos that would reign?
Well, even though GreatDragonAD is doing a MLP crossover with Tenchi, I would love to read one in which Pinkie & Mihoshi are together, and the way they behave in front of both the Tenchi gang & the Mane6, they would react like, “Oh my God/Celestia! It’s like having two Mihoshis/Pinkie Pies!”

The Shadow Chroniclesmovie that came out a few years back which continued the Robotechlegacy as another possible reason for coming out with a new Macrossseries.I should’ve though. Just shows how popular it continues to be even after over a quarter of a century.
As I’ve might have mention, it was Robotech that got me hooked on anime in the first place, when I first saw it on Sci-Fi Channel’s old Cartoon Quest in the 90’s (in fact, I remember the first episode I saw, Ep. 11 First Contact). However, it was also through Robotech that I got into it’s original course material, Macross. Specifically, when I saw the OVA Macross II for the first time in early 2000, that cemented my love for the original source material (even though Macross II is consider non-canon). Before the VF-25’s of Macross Frontier, The VF-2SS of Macross II was always my heavy favorite valkyrie in the franchise.
Plus, over the years growing up, I’ve always built LEGO mocs up of veritechs and valkyries from the series, as evident by these pics here:

, however, I have yet to take any pictures of them yet. Just waiting for the right time.Max VF-1’s moc-upsBut anyways, I’ll always be a Robotech fan, first, but I’m mostly neutral, as I enjoy both versions of the franchise. Either way, I’m looking forward to a new Macross series. I would love it if it were a reboot of the original series, or basing it on the Macross: The First manga. That would be awesome, reinventing the original series for a new generation.
