Wow! That’s a really great pic Nobuyuki! When was it made, do you know? Cause it’s got that really awesome 90’s design feel to it, yet it has Rea and Noike. Before you say anything, I DO know that they were around, both plot-wise and in character design form long before OVA3 and GXP were released, but it isn’t often that I see images of them from that era. - August 29, 2013 at 5:49 PM

I tend to think of the Mihoshi Special as off in it’s own happy, crazy, little side continuity. When watching it, it almost feels like the writers just gathered around one day and randomly threw together as much fun and creative story elements together as possible with only two rules: Continuity didn’t matter, and no level of insanity was too high! Frankly, I can’t think of a more purely entertaining way to write for a one-off special ep! - August 29, 2013 at 5:41 PM

Indeed, thanks for making the effort to share with us Amitav! I suppose this can be the official “Novel fan thread” then. I suppose I’ll start off simply by saying that I liked the Washu novel much more than the other too. It was extremely fascinating in its look at Washu’s past and her motivations for doing what she does in the show. I’ll probably have more to say later, but for now lets hear from someone else - August 29, 2013 at 3:22 AM

I’ll go first. Its hard to believe that I only watched Eva for the first time a little over half a year ago, as it has become such a dominant feature in my existence as an anime fan. When it comes to anime, my preference has always been for shows/movies that are thought provoking, unique, and of great historical importance, and boy oh boy does Eva fit the bill to a tee! I love the seemingly endless layers of complexity in the characters and mythology of the series, but what really makes the franchise stand out in my mind are the subtle (and not so subtle
😆 ) ways in which it turns the attention back on the audience. It’s so easy to lose yourself in peeling back and analyzing the many layers of the show, only to discover afterwards that somewhere along the line it became yourself you were analyzing! That is the beauty of Eva, and its why I have come to regard it so highly. As for the characters, I felt that each and every one was amazingly constructed and subsequently deconstructed throughout the series, but my favorite will always be Asuka. She’s bold, brash, and self-confidant to the point of annoyance (as many will no doubt make a point of, lol)….. or is she? Asuka’s appeal for me really comes from the secret struggle that she fights to keep inside of her. She desperately wants to be loved by others, so she holds herself to an impossibly high standard, with ultimately damaging consequences psychologically. I see a lot of myself in her, and perhaps that’s why I enjoy her character so much, although I like to think that I’m a bit more developed in my approach to other people lol.
Anyway, that’s enough for me right now, but you can be sure I’m not done yet! Let’s hear from you now. What are your thoughts on Eva?

Thanks for the share Nobuyuki Another very well done promo I think. This one just isn’t quite as good as the first one though…. idk why, I just thought the pacing and clip choice could have been a little better. Anyway, can’t wait to see this on tv I guess this means that they are committed to running all of them eventually. FUNi needs to hurry it up with 3.33 already…. I’m dying for that dub! - August 28, 2013 at 12:18 AM

Speaking of comets….
, at least for now… It’s a shame really, I was very much anticipating the day when I could look up in the night sky, see a huge comet outclassing the moon, and listening to this:It looks like we will be spared the onslaught of the Comet Empire[BBvideo 425,350]

WOW. Nice share Nobuyuki! I haven’t seen this Tenchi art before, nor have I seen WoG and Tenchi so closely paired before. Now, is this type of vid something that is made by fans cutting together art and production materials, or is it put together by the studio as part of a promo or special feature? Anyway, thanks for sharing - August 23, 2013 at 11:55 PM

Nobuyuki wrote:I am surprised no one at Otakon had it.
Oh they did. Mittens bought the only copy without telling me! Lol. Actually, I’m mostly to blame for not looking at all. Last Otakon I scoured the place and came up empty, so I didn’t bother this year. I should have known that in the intervening year since the FUNi releases that they would come out of the woodwork. Oh well, cest la vie.
