Sweet mother of Asuka! THIS is what I’ve missed about Toonami for all these years! I hope that this movie really kicks ass in the ratings tonight, because this is exactly what Toonami needs to really take off! *re-watches video* I’ll be in my bunk. - March 15, 2013 at 1:27 AM

Indeed! After the utter lack of features in their recent releases, my interest in this set has just gone up significantly. Hopefully they continue the trend. - March 13, 2013 at 1:23 PM

I don’t think the popularity of the show should be a factor. It’s undeniably a large part of the franchise whether people like it or not, just like TU, Tokyo, and OVA3 are for some people yet we tackled each of those. Plus, I know for a fact that there are at least a handful of people here and elsewhere that really enjoyed Pretty Sammy and I just think that we should wrap up our discussion of the main branches of the franchise before we move on to more speculative topics. - March 13, 2013 at 1:35 AM

We actually have done one of these
, but so many new developments have occurred within the franchise, that it might be a good idea to revisit the subject. I’d personally like to finish up discussing the “main” branches of the franchise with a cast on Pretty Sammy. We really haven’t given it any airtime in the past, but for many fans it’s an integral part of the franchise and I think we’d get some really good discussion out of it.HERE- March 13, 2013 at 1:25 AM

Wow, thanks for the link Wisper! I would LOVE if Toonami would correct the mistake it made all those years ago in not running the movies. Seriously, so many people were, and continue to be, in the dark about what is literally a whole branch of the franchise because they only saw what aired on Toonami back in the day. Especially the first movie, which I think fits the feel of Toonami extremely well. Oh well, at this point I’m willing to have hope in just about any positive development on the Toonami front, after all look how far they’ve come in less than a year! - March 11, 2013 at 12:41 AM

Sorry for the confusion. I didn’t think it was being pulled before its run. I should have said “I suppose its a shame that GXP is being pulled after only one run.” Carry on. 😳 - March 10, 2013 at 9:59 PM

Thanks for the info WisperG! I’m very pleased with the momentum Toonami is gaining for itself. If you had asked me a year ago, I’d have told you Toonami was never coming back, and now here we are. It’s not there yet, but I have more hope now than I have at any point so far. I suppose it’s a shame that GXP is being pulled, but I’m sure Tenchi will keep on chugging along until we get our own long awaited revival. Now I can’t wait to watch EVA on tv! - March 10, 2013 at 5:08 PM

Wow! big news indeed! I’m glad to see Toonami really making some big name acquisitions! I look forward to seeing the new TOM and Absolution as well, hopefully we can get SARA and Peter Cullen back too - March 9, 2013 at 6:47 PM

An AMAZING article just went up on ourstarblazers.com about a presentation given by the director of Yamato 2199, with a very special guest appearance by none other than the king of Sci-fi mindscrews Hideaki Anno!Apparently Mr. Anno was a massive fan of the original Yamato, and was originally supposed to direct Yamato 2199 before he got sidetracked by some silly little side project called the Rebuild of Evangelion movies ( :Cheeks: ). It’s a great conversation between these two revered directors, who are really just fans like the rest of us! I particularly liked how Anno told the story of how he quit all his school clubs and took a bus to another prefecture just to watch Yamato as it was coming out! Anyway, is the article, and I HIGHLY recommend that all Yamato/Evangelion/Anno fans read it as it really shows how powerful an influence Yamato was to the next generation of animators and story tellers!HERE
