For those who haven’t read what I’ve got so far, please feel free to give my stories a read! Mind you, the first one is a bit of an eyefull.

Welcome to the crew, glad to have you! I know exactly how you feel, looking around for a group THIS intense about such a niche market anime and stumbling across TF is an amazing feeling. It’s like an immediate family. Awesome to see we have a new member of the tree!

Okay, next big question. Mihoshi taking off her ribbon: it’s been said that she would lose her memory if she does so, but why? Is it holding in the back of her head or something? Personally I think it would make more sense that it is a memory dampener, something to keep the nightmares of her death and reanimation at bay and allow her a happy life. I ask your thoughts on this because our buxom blonde is featured heavily in my next scene and I’m trying to develop her as a deeper character, something that I feel would require a bit more heartache and maturity in her personality. I’m trying to put her forward as the kind of person who is a total ditz and blunders through most situations but can become serious and capable should the situation require it. I don’t want to ruffle too many feathers with it though, so I’d love some feedback on this idea.

Perhaps logic isn’t the best way to look at this. I’m researching energy wavelength physics and how differing forms of energy interact with one another in an attempt to be able to explain this scientifically when Washu inevitably provides an explanation to the T. Crew concerning the changed nature of the Tenchi clones. How sad is it that fanfiction has been a doorway to bettering myself in the pursuit of knowledge instead of higher education?

So, if two differing waves meet, obviously one would resist the other initially, but if one continues at the same amplitude and wavelength, while the other begins to increase, will the increasing energy then overtake the static? And will said increasing wave then take on aspects of the original wave? Maybe I should pose this question to a physics forum. ^_^

The Tenchi clones are extensions of Mikaboshi, the escaped [expunged?] Godlike form that appeared at the end of OVA 3, a twisted form of the being that the Choushin had groomed Tenchi to eventually become. As such they are tied directly to Him as a font of their strength, though greatly reduced and spread across a sort of ‘hive mind’. With such intimate knowledge of the Choushin energy, is it feasible that they could adapt their own output wavelength and turn the opposing force against itself?

Alright, as a starter for this I’ll lay down a part in my story that I just dropped in my most recent chapter since I’m concerned about the logistics of my methods.

Sasami, wounded from a previous battle, is facing a massive group of cloned Tenchi’s; these being the progeny of the escaped ‘god-aspect’ that Tenchi was groomed by the Choushin to become. Tsunami comes to her aid, projecting a barrier of goddess energy to hold them at bay. Much like the Borg of old [lololol] the clones then adapt and absorb a portion of her energy and become stronger because of it.

Now, the question I pose is does this make sense from a logical mindset? If the power that was bred within Tenchi is an extension of the Choushin, should the extensions of said power be able to counter act the original source? It makes sense for the story, but I wanted an outsider’s opinion on this.

That’s more or less the idea for now. I’m going to get the Daz3D program and play around with it, try to make up some quickie animations for the characters and play around with posing before we get heavy into anything close to full-length.

After a little bit of research, yeah this does fall into a grey area of the fan-labor laws. It should be acceptable under the rules fair-use to avoid any kind of copyright infringement. But sadly I think you’re right. While we probably could approach Petrea and Kate and Matthew and everyone about it, it would likely ruffle some feathers with Funi and beyond that I’m not sure they’d even be interested in resurrecting their old roles. I’ve got a legal contacts that I can double check with, but I’d be willing to bet that route is off the roster for now.

I’ll be downloading Daz3D tonight and playing around with it just to see what we can do with the program.

I’ve got my fanfiction that I’m still working on, but before this gets too far off the ground I’d like to see if we can’t put together a rough script or at least a direction for the story to go in so we have a jumping point as it were. So, on that note what do you all think would be a better option; A) A continuation of OVA3 where we can finally close up some of the gaping holes in the canon, B) go in the opposite direction and try to forget that most of that happened since the entire series of events was supposed to have been wiped from the timeline, or C) go completely off the wall and head along the Y access and turn the world upside down? I’m calling out to everyone here, not just the writers, where would you like to see this go?

I took a closer look at the DAZ3D site and I think that’s actually almost EXACTLY what we need! The way they have it set up is actually pretty cool. Then I suppose we’d have to decide on if it would look better more realistic or more anime/toon style since they have both readily available.

I’ve got a little bit of experience with 3D modeling too, but my textures are always awful, so I’d need assistance with that.

I’ll try to get in contact with TLF, it doesn’t look like they have an email address readily available, but I’ll leave a comment and see if I can’t get into regular communication with them.

We could try doing a remixed episode just to play in the waters, or I could use the DAZ3D and some blank models to try to recreate episodes just as a way to get a good feel for the system. Who here does any voice acting, or can mimic voices pretty well? I doubt we’d be able to get the original cast & crew in on this without running into something pretty touchy on funi legal sides or just winding up bothering them. Speaking of which I’ll look into legal precedence and try to make sure we can cover our asses today as well.

You’ve got a good point there, that would be worth looking into. We’d still have some work ahead of us to modify the models to fit the characters, but it would certainly be less work than having to hand-draw each frame. We’d just need a powerhouse PC to render it properly. Great find, JGZ!
