An interesting idea, however I feel like this would be an awkward thing to tackle. We have a lot of fanfiction authors on the site itself who take part in the podcasts. Would we have them onboard to talk about each others’ works, or would we have the entire cast be by people who were merely readers? Another concern is the podcast being a little too self-serving. Fanfiction is just that – fiction written by fans. It isn’t exactly talking about Tenchi things everyone already knows about and is familiar with, its whole new worlds/episodes/movies/side stories/etc and wouldn’t really be as interesting to listeners. It’s fun to talk about for sure, but I don’t see it working out in the podcast format.

While I can’t think of any shows in particular at the moment to create a full line-up, I would love to entertain an idea we spoke about in the podcast I believe. Every week there would be a specific chunk of time dedicated to a “Wayback Machine” of sorts. Hints would be dropped during the week leading up to Saturday as to what the show would be. When the timeslot hit, a show from the 60’s and 70’s up through the early 90’s would air. Depending on the ratings, that show may gain a slot in the overall lineup. Alternatively, have it dedicated to one old show at a time and see it through to completion before moving on to the next one.

Pardon the dust, but we’ve hit our next milestone! As of a few minutes shy of midnight we have officially hit 50% completion on Novel 1!In order to celebrate, not only are we here at the Hasegawa Translation Project/Heaven & Earth Translations popping a few corks to bring in the weekend but we have decided to share a small teaser from the opening of the novel that has been localized thus far. Major thanks to team member Crazedfor his work on the following: Quote:“Happy new year.”
“Happy new year.”
“Happy new year!!”A wonderful five part quintet was heard. It’s the new year, and the location is the parlor of the Masaki house.
“Oh, thank you…… very much……”
Despite it being New Years morning, Tenchi was still wearing his traditional monk attire, but before his eyes the girls appeared as glittering stars in their long sleeved kimono’s, Tenchi was so overwhelmed that he could not help but smile.
Starting from the left, the first, Ayeka Masaki. She is the first imperial princess of the kingdom of Jurai. She is the perfect princess, but she recognizes that she can be sly. She is the very model of a Japanese woman, however her personality is somewhat scary when she obsesses over something.
Second. Sasami Masaki. She is the second princess of Jurai’s royal family. She is Ayeka’s younger sister, she has many practical talents (primarily with the housework). She is cute, steady, and headstrong.
Third. Ryoko. She used to be a mummy. She is the demon of the shrine. She was a former puppet that has very high intelligence and fighting power. However, there are no need for such things in peaceful times. She can go through walls, fly through the air, and create an energy sword. She can also summon demons from the land and water simply by using her voice. She is surprisingly naive.
The fourth. Mihoshi. She is a competent first class detective of the Galaxy Police. Although, with the number of demolished buildings, bills, and all of the written complaints, you wouldn’t think she would be a first class detective. Now she’s carefree and spends all of her time taking care of her hair.
And finally, Washu. She was the most gifted scientist at the academy. She specializes in biotechnology. She was the late Kagato’s professor, and is Ryoko’s mother. Although she appears to be a child, she is, in fact, the oldest out of the five (there is a reason for this). Her personality……. well, it’s best left to the imagination.
How did these five beautiful girls end up at Tenchi Masaki’s house? The reason lies in outer space……..
I’m incredibly proud of all the hard work everyone has put into making this project a reality thus far. Things are really taking shape in the novel and every day I grow more and more excited to see the end result and to be able to share it with fans of the series. Thank you to everyone who has been waiting patiently while we work. And once again thank you to every one of us chipping away at these ol’ tomes.

For a little over a year I’ve been writing out a stage performance featuring the musical/sound talents of several of my favorite artists in their respective fields. The chance of getting the four of them together to work on such a large undertaking, especially considering the amount of practical stage effects that would be required for the show to work, is next to nothing. But it doesn’t stop me from picturing the scenes vividly as my brain coasts along on their music. It will never amount to anything more than a private show that exists in only my head but I’m ok with that. Lately I’ve been returning to the script and making some changes and I figure I could share a little bit of the sound that embodies the performance, by the artists whom I would want in on said production.
The Aether:[BBvideo 425,350]
[/BBvideo]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DFKUwMYgoAw A presence whose very existence floats between the quietest moments. Its spiritual energy forming the base from which all things depend. A percussive and bass-heavy manipulated guitar treatment serves as the musical half of the performance.
The Willow:[BBvideo 425,350]
[/BBvideo]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TJLC5791I2E A spirit trapped inside the body of a giant tree, lurching over from age and sorrow. It is the centerpiece of the forest where it lies yet there is an inescapable feeling of neglect on display. Those who hear her tales are blessed with the knowledge of several generations’ past but soon that voice shall be silent. An orchestral arrangement led by a Cello is the musical accompaniment for the Willow.
The Earth:[BBvideo 425,350]
[/BBvideo]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kl0mtyPe7mw The whole of the stage for this drama. The Earth’s contributions are essential for the backdrop, yet are only heard and never seen. Projected sounds of nature timed and mixed on the fly into and surrounding the audience is the entirety of his performance.
The Narrator:[BBvideo 425,350]
[/BBvideo]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ezbgK3GiMMc Our translator, our guide to the sounds we have tuned out of our daily lives. He speaks for which cannot. His voice will not steer us every moment, only serving as a movement between each respective act of the performance and the final thing heard in the finale. He could take any shape or form, blend in with each scene or act as an outside observer much the same as the viewer.
It’s kind of one of my own personal passion projects and I doubt the music will be of much interest to anyone but myself but I haven’t exactly talked about this to people before. I don’t know why but I figured I might as well start now.
