Florida, it seems, has very little in the way of shame. As we cruised I-95 doing 80+ MPH, colorful billboards lined the streets as frequently as wavering palm trees. Many advertised harmless local businesses, TV networks and restaurant chains promising cheap, greasy meals. Most eye-catching of all were the billboards which screamed “Welcome to Florida”. Those not being related to the Kennedy Space Center, Disneyland or the Ron Jon surf shop. Rather, one consisted of the word “VASECTOMY” and a phone number.Vivid imagery of an erupting volcano ruptured to life on an animated board, displaying the flashing words “SYPHILIS EXPLOSION”.
A month after the trip, someone I follow on twitter retweets someone who found the Syphilis Explosion billboard. It is now available for everyone to see. Welcome to Florida:

I have a feeling that the one with the green stripe is going to be a more text heavy version of -If- with some kind of story regarding all the -If-‘s thus far. The one with the blue stripe is actually -If- III a which to me means that -If- III b will probably come out at next summer’s Comiket.
Whoops, typoed that. He’s certainly going hard on the -If- theme though.

A few weeks ago Negishi mentioned there would be an explanation as to why the show was published in a 4 minute long, 50 episode format. Today, his tweeting marathon continued with the following: “About 5 years ago, Inoue (Hiroaki Inoue, one of the main producers on the Tenchi series) had begun to make plans for a (Tenchi) in Love 3. Later on, Miura (Toru Miura, president of AIC) proposed a plan for a Tenchi series consisting of 100 episodes that were 90 seconds long. This was eventually changed to the 5 minute episode framework. It was absurd to even think about reviving “Tenchi Muyo!” in the first place. And I was determined to undertake the project.”
On speaking with Miura:
“President Miura, now that Ai Tenchi is over, could you introduce me to Kajishima? I have yet to meet him ever since I started work on the TV show back in 1995.”When asked if he saw Kajishima as a mysterious man, he responded with:
“I don’t know, since we haven’t met before. Though I do think he is very talented.”Negishi also mentions that his favorite episode of the OVA is “Hello Baby!” (OVA2 Ep. 1)

http://i.minus.com/icLzEAcksfB61.png" /> Episode 60 is now subtitled and available! http://i.minus.com/iLZjaOQ473ivj.gif" /> Episode 60:Our adventure winds down with a quiet moment back home at the Masaki shrine. But as always, quiet is but a fleeting thing with Ryoko and the girls around. We get a look at Beni and Momo’s final moments before they go back to their own dimension, with some interesting differences. In the version where they were originally captured, the extra characters were represented by Hachiko, Hana and Touri. In this iteration,
the Hachiko character is an older man, and the two women with him have similar hair colors but slightly different designs than Hana and Touri. We also get a look at all of that lovely paperwork Mihoshi’s famous for needing during every case, Ukan’s worth ethics still being rather questionable, Washu finally yawning after a hard 50-episodes’ work, and Ryo-ohki falling into a carrot coma. The final moments drop a delicious final hint, leaving everyone to imagine the meaning of those 20 or so seconds.
It’s been a crazy ride working on this with you all and being able to bring the fandom fresh Tenchi material every single day. Thank you all for watching and being here with us for the carnival.

SnowQueen wrote:I hope Ai did well then. I’ve seen both positive and negative comment’s about the series but hopefully there’s enough love for Ai Tenchi to spark another series or movie! Please Negishi! >_<
Agreed. I’ve seen a lot of positive reception as a whole but a lot of the negative reception comes from stuff that can be easily remedied. One of the main issues being the show’s length, which would be mitigated by a movie or funding a regular length TV/OVA show. Another was the addition of the new characters, and some just not clinging to the Student Council or the Science Club that well. By leaving Ai as-is and moving to another story, they could focus on the old girls again like how some fans would prefer.
The massive bursts of happiness from fans upon seeing the old girls show up and the fantastic scenes they had should be what AIC needs to know. There’s still a lot of love for this series, and if they take into account what was “wrong” versus what was “right”, more Tenchi should really be a no-brainer.
