I don’t recall it ever stated how old Photon is, I’m just saying that I assume he is 15 because that is a common age shared by other Kajishima main characters.

Tenchi Masaki 15 in OVA1, 17 by GXP

    Kazuki Yotsuga 16

    Photon Earth ???

    Seina Yamada 15

    Kenshi Masaki 15

Japanese ages not given, US ages listed as “19”. lol

    Gen Hiraga

    Taiyo (last name unknown)

    Shougo Yoshisuzu

Thou I believe Photon is 15, like the rest of Kajishima’s main characters, in a sense he is more like someone even younger than that. He is more like an uncorrupted child, who only thinks of moving forward and the safety of those around him. That does not necessarily make him an idiot, it just makes him unbelievably gullible.

Thou it is amusing that he writes baka [idiot] on everyone’s foreheads and ahou can be interpreted as “stupid”. Meaning his ahou power [stupid strength] is what makes him strong. 😆 Or, to put it nicely, the ability to overcome any obstacle through sheer willpower, without regard for logic & reason. A trait he shares in common with another, more famous idiot. Monkey D. Luffy.

You know Vision of Escaflowne and Fushigi Yuugi are hugely popular.

Change “are” to “were” and you might have a point. But the topic is about titles that are not popular now and not exclusively about titles that were never popular. Also being considered influential really doesn’t mean a damn thing, when we’re talking about the popularity of a product outside Japan.

Tenchi Muyo: tales of the holy land

    The holy knight of Geminar

At least those make sense in english….

Tales of the Holy Land has a nice ring to it, but I doubt would be used because some viewers might assume a religious connection to Israel/Judaism exists somewhere in the series. Which would discourage some viewers from buying and leave others feeling let down.

And the other one, well it’s already been established that the original title makes no mention of ‘knights’, nor at any point is Kenshi knighted. Combined with including Geminar, the name of the planet, the title has diverted too far from the intended meaning.

If it were to be re-titled Tales From A Parallel World even with the Tenchi in front of it,it might end up confusing Dual fans.

nah, it’s just standard pandering procedure. A retitling like that has just about the right amount of pandering to hook Dual & Tenchi fans. And lets be honest, whomever licenses it would want to pander to fans of as many related Tenchi titles they can. Since all of their fanbases are practically nonexistent.

    Vision of Escaflowne

fans of Isekai will love this title, guaranteed

    Fushigi Yuugi “The Mysterious Play”

a cross between The Never Ending Story and Chinese mythology, or at least how I’d describe it

    Mermaid Forest / Mermaid’s Scar

highly overlooked Rumiko miniseries, must watch for fans of Japanese mythology and Rumiko’s works

Please elaborate wooooplz This thread is about explaining why you do or don’t like Sakuya, not who’s better.

Actually it’s an opinion thread and should not be confused for a shipper thread. That said, in my opinion, she was the best girl in Tokyo. However, she was flawed because she was really just a piece of Yugi. Which insistently Sayuka/Yugi is just a rehash of Daughter of Darkness’ Mayuka/Yuzuha, with a backstory similar to OVA Ryoko and less implied incest. So do I have anything against Sayuka? Clearly not. Thou she is far from my favorite Tenchi girl simply because I did not enjoy Tokyo. Character assassinate an entire cast and there are bound to be a number of displeased people.

Could be worse, could be the Engrish title found on the back of the box set. “Legend of the Jemina”, WTF is that?! Romanji & English took a beating there.

IF Funi ever licenses it, I expect the title will receive an entire renaming, so that everyone knows it is connected to Tenchi. “Kenshi! Tales From a Parallel World” or something along those lines.

The only thing wrong with Sayuka is that in the end she turned out to be one huge lie. That said, she was better than any of the other TinT girls. SPOILER: Those stones Jugi wants are really crack rocks. Yeah, the TinT girls are all baseheads.

Are you saying that the Masaki family have weird eye brows? And does this only apply to the Earth branch of the family

or does the Juraian branch have the same capacity for such eye brows? And if so what kind of eyebrows do/would Aeka and

    Tenchi’s kids have?

Actually Masakis have the most common eyebrow pattern found in Tenchi. [Probably to limit the total number of design changes between OVA1&2 and GXP/OVA3.] Watch GXP/OVA3, and take note how many Masaki people like Aeka, Sasami, Tsunami, etc have brows like Tenchi. Then take note how other characters related to another have similar brows, like Ryoko & Washu, Mihoshi and her family, Seina and the Yamadas or even Z and Z’s mother. I cannot believe that to this day I’m still the only one who seems to notice this stuff.
