    Great posts guys!

Here’s one I love for a series I adore: opening for Black Lagoon

(see if this stays up on yt for a while)

p.s. remember if you want, guys, there’s web video links to make it embed here on the board.

:WUTH: scary! Yes, very Halloween-theme appropriate, to say the least. The buildup of the actual transformation was so descriptive, it’s like you experienced it yourself. It was descriptive and long, but I think the payoff was worth it.

Maybe, maaaaaybeee since the transformation was very descriptive, her morphing back to human form (for the first time) could be a bit more descriptive, but you’re right in that you wouldn’t want it as detailed as the transformation itself because, well, we’ve “seen” it already, wouldn’t want to make people read it all again, save in reverse (but this is me trying to find something to critique, it really doesn’t need changed, except for, as you yourself are already aware of, minor editing tweaking with spelling).

Thanks for the Halloween treat :D this, like so much of your writing, is a side of Tenchi-lore that I don’t think we’ll ever see in actuality 😆 but also is not seen elsewhere in the fanfiction world. You’ve really made Kiyone (and/or, rather, her ‘darker side’) your own, and used your abilities for a very, very different view of the Tenchi universe.

Is this going to be incorporated into your larger work, or will this be its own separate arch? Or is this just a special treat, and maybe we’ll get one next Halloween?

    FFFFemo jk

Yes, I guess that makes us rivals! How exciting! Sorry took me so long, but I watched your amv and it is awesome. I think it’s got a good shot. In a way, I think it’s kind of opposite tone of my entry, so it will be interesting for the judges I’m sure.

Glad we’ve got some good representin’ for the forum!

I will agree that Slayers is fairly popular all things considering (I’ve very familiar with it, despite me not being a very accomplished otaku and it never being on Toonami, and now it’s on outlets like netflix) but I totally agree with Makoto in that it is a hugely influential series to say the least, in Japan and abroad, in different mediums, and even amongst fellow anime creators/artists (now what DID we do with that Tenchi/Slayers crossover pic?). Any positive recognition it gets, it deserves.

To contribute, one series that I’ve just fairly become acquainted with is popular in Japan (so I hear) but not as much here stateside save for those of us “in the loop” about anime (this is likely because there is no official English dub yet).

    I’m talkin’ about…

    Kaiji!

I’m not going to give away too much, but the premise involves a young delinquent fighting his way out of his own self-dug pit of debt and overcoming a lot of external obstacles and inner turmoil along the way. It’s not very old (2007) but imo it will likely go down as a classic. Its messages are very topical and relevant to modern youth culture (in Japan, here and elsewhere) but are also timeless. I can’t recommend it enough.

If I’m wrong about this not being very popular outside Japan, and I’m the only one who didn’t hear about this anime sooner, I’d be all the happier. This is one of those things that needs to be experienced by everyone.

I have officially sent in my entry! :washu:

Sometimes it really does pay if, when you are frustrated/tired, to stop and resume it the following day. With my head cleared, I got the format all set and figured out amv.org, so now I await some form of confirmation from the con staff that my entry has been submitted and approved.

Also (here’s the important part): I listed you guys as my proxy–specifically Dagon, but if he’s busy with the panel, I tried to leave some wiggle room so that anyone of you forum reps going for the panel could hopefully go in his place (proxy for a proxy? lol). Wouldn’t want any of you to miss any of the panel if heaven forbid it is at the same time as the contest viewing, but if it is, it would be appreciated if somebody could duck out at least towards the end of the contest if at all possible.*

    Thaaaaaaaaaaaanks! 😉

*If not possible, nbd, I do this for fun and to get our friend boozinwalsh’s work (and mine lol) out there. I’m sure obtaining the prize itself isn’t anything too essential to my well-being (wait, this is assuming I win something, getting ahead of myself).

    Thanks Z-man…

Well, I’ve been traveling alot this year for the holidays, and it’s still not over yet (busy this weekend). I have found a video that would actually be acceptable (something about had to be created after Feb 2012 apparently) changed the format and created an account with amv.org, but I’m running into problems–no surprise there, I may be–with the exception of some Amish folk–the least computer-using-inclined-knowhow person on the planet.

Having spent what little available time I’ve had just figuring out how amv.org and ftp servers work, I’ve have been unable, time and time again, to successfully upload/transfer (it appears my video goes over the storage limit of amv.org, that I’ve just now seen in the fine print). Quite frankly, I am exhausted and a bit frustrated.

Unless you, JGZinv or someone else going to the con with an amv.org account or something similar would like to transfer/upload my video for me (then act as my proxy at the con) I’m afraid I’ll likely have to raise the white flag on this one.

    *EDIT–cools off*

Okay, I will try again tomorrow/Sun when I have some time to do so. I have to get my vid from 900(ish, I think) mb down under 150mb w/o the quality suffering too bad…we’ll give it a go!

On a brighter note, despite my minor setbacks (at my own incompetence) I’m glad so much has gone right thus far, and I hope everything else goes well *knocks on wood. It’s sure to be fun, and if there’s anything else I may be of use for, let me know. :D

^I shall look into this. Though, since I don’t have originals I will have to re-download from my own youtube, but I guess that shouldn’t hurt the quality too much (if at all).

    480×720 is gewd, right? kirbyishappyplz

Good man, Greg! (Fun how this vid has shown up–and imo can validly belong in–both Ayeka and Ryoko fan threads) 😆

Thanks for info on amv’s JG. I’ve been in contact with the guy (Adam) I haven’t had time to make anything new, and my old ones (that I’d be proud to enter) are in a widescreen format, which apparently is a no-go. I don’t really have access to my original files to sloppily convert them into an acceptable format, so idk if it will work for me. I could toss in some of my old ones, no chance of winning but if they just want more amv’s to show…
