Lol idk i guess i just must’ve missed that one when i was a kid. I’ll definitely put that one on my list of games i need, is it any good? And as far as shining force 3 goes, as a collector i’d love to just have it in my collection. Nothing against emulation but nothing beats sitting in front of your tv with a controller in your hand soawesome1 - January 29, 2014 at 7:31 PM
- in reply to: English "Tenchi Muyo! Game Hen"
You guys are absolutely right, Tenchi Muyo Game Hen would have been a massive flop if it were released stateside. RPG games were a very niche market here in the good ol’ U-S of A , and unless RPGs had a recognizable name such as “Final Fantasy” or “Dragon Quest” (Called Dragon Warrior here at the time) they were mostly ignored. This was a time when platformers reigned supreme and the RPG was still in its infancy in the states. It wasn’t until 1997 when Final Fantasy VII was released that RPGs gained a following. Secondly, RPG games were very expensive to produce because of battery back-ups inside the cartridges and strategy guides (which were a necessity in the days before internet.) It wouldnt make sense for a publisher to invest all that money into a game that didn’t have name recognition at the time. Tenchi Muyo Game Hen was released in 1995, the same year as another forgotten RPG gem that nobody seemed to care about at the time of its release called “Earthbound” (maybe you’ve heard of it) and that was published by Nintendo itself, not to mention had a huge marketing strategy. The Sony Playstation was also released in late 1995, so interest in the SNES was dwindling. Maybe it’s best that it wasn’t released here because it would probably end up being one of the rarest and most valuable titles on the SNES, like most other forgotten RPGs at the time. - January 29, 2014 at 4:24 PM

For Washuu wrote:Are you a fan of Final Fantasy VI, Need for Speed: Porsche, the Descent games, or Shining Force?
Love the final fantasy series although I haven’t played VI in quite a few years now. It was always my second favorite behind IX. Ive played most of the NFS franchise aside from the newer entrys (i think i stopped at underground 2) but I dont think ive ever played porsche. Never played the descent games but Shining Force is awesome, especially the 2nd one.
soawesome1 Shining Force 3 is one of the games that ive been looking for for a while now, I just don’t want to pay the $100+ for it- January 28, 2014 at 4:01 AM

Thanks Who, I was really surprised that this wasn’t a thread already. I love to hear about how others joined the fandom. From my experience, Tenchi fans form a very close-knit community and its interesting to hear the stories of others who share the same passion. Tenchi has the best fans!
