Awesome stuff you’ve found there Nobuyuki! I believe my love for 70’s anime, especially the work of one Leiji Matsumoto, is firmly on record here so I shall spare you all my gushing! :Cheeks: Anyway, I will totally be getting some of these (after I give Funi all my money for the Tenchi sets that is!). I have heard a lot about Cutey Honey, but I have never actually seen any of it. How would you say it is? (everyone feel free to chime in, not just Nobuyuki)

@WisperG. You’re the man Wisper! It makes me SUPER happy to see you so excited to jump into this great series! Be sure to let us know all about what you think of it! @mitsuki lover. Nice catch there ML. The reviewer is Tim Eldred (AKA the guy who runs the ABSOLUTELY AMAZING
) who is pretty much the guru of Star Blazers fandom. He always gives a very cogent and high minded approach to the franchise, and his review here is some of his finer work. I agree wholeheartedly with his review, especially how he describes the benefit the “middle path” that the creators took in remaking the original (Paramount Studios take note: If you want to reboot a classic cultural touchstone sci-fi series for the modern age DON’T hand the reigns over to someone who didn’t grow up as a diehard fan of the original! *cough JJ Abrams cough*)starblazers.comAnyway, It’s a great time to be a Yamato fan and I am looking forward with great anticipation to the rest of this awesome series! Tim Eldred said it best: “History says this probably still isn’t the last time Yamato will go to Iscandar, but no matter how many more times it happens, it will always have an appreciative audience. That’s what it is to be a legend.”

I agree with what you say about slower moving/plot driven shows Wisper. I was only able to catch the first few saturdays of toonami before school work got in the way, but I really like Casshern Sins and didn’t find Deadman Wonderland all that appealing. Other than that, I was indifferent towards the rest of the toonami shows that I saw. It’s cool that they have the new Thundercats now, but I hope that they keep it predominantly Japanese anime centered. What I would LOVE to see is Funi give them Tenchi and Trigun. I know that new shows will need to dominate to win the younger audience, but they really need to satisfy the fans of their classic shows. - October 10, 2012 at 12:28 AM

boopplz WOOOOOOT! I’m so happy to hear that! I hope that you enjoy it as much as I do, and feel free to post whatever you want about it over at the star blazers thread as I have been dying to have someone else to discuss it with
Anyway, I have officially finished watching the trifecta of space western animes: Outlaw Star, Cowboy Bebop, and Trigun. All three of them blew my mind in their own ways, and it is EXTREMELY hard for me to rank them. I am now moving on to Evangelion. Wish me luck, I hear it’s a bit depressing! :Cheeks:

Happy birthday Yamato! On this day in 1974 “Space Battleship Yamato” first aired on Japanese TV, launching not only a crew of courageous Star Blazers into the unknown, but all of anime fandom as well! So raise a cup of Sake, shout “We will return!”, and enjoy this RARE extended version of the original opening theme.

I’ve been plowing through my list of “50 animes to watch before I die” so kindly provided by members of this forum! I’ve finished Outlaw Star and Cowboy Bebop (which are both AMAZING shows!) and I am now working my way through Trigun, which is also VERY good! - October 6, 2012 at 7:07 PM

SWEET! Let us know how you like it! I’ve finished Codename: Sailor V and it was great, so as soon as I can scrounge some money together I want to start in on the Sailor Moons.

I can easily get transportation for either saturday or friday, the only reason I havent booked yet is because I didn’t know if we could get friday at the hotel. I would prefer friday for many reasons. Either way definitely talk to the hotel people even if it’s just to discover if we even can get friday and to let them know about bib possibly being there. - October 6, 2012 at 3:03 PM

Oh the wide world of Kiyones…. Why don’t I make it easy on myself and say I love them all! Wont do? Oh, well then I suppose I would have to go with Universe/TMIL1. She’s cool, competent and in control! Not to mention beautiful, sexy, and totally BADASS when she nailed KAIN with the dimensional cannon! She’s more uptight in the Mihoshi Special, she’s lovely but strangely carefree in DoD, and manic depressive in TiT lol. As for Mihoshi, it’s definitely the original OVA version. She actually had a brain and wasn’t just the typical “dumb blonde” trope. The truth of the matter is though, neither one is complete without the other…
