It’s kinda funny seeing RPG Maker VX Ace on sale for the dollar tier but the older RPG Maker XP hitting the $6 tier. There’s a lot of debate in the RPG Maker community on which one is the best, but the truth is there’s a lot of differences in the featuresets for the two that seem to aim for radically different approaches. RPG Maker VX Ace: Easier to understand interface, support for modern musical formats (as opposed to XP’s MIDI only), 60FPS support (XP is locked to 30), engine mod support (this is a huge plus), steam workshop support.
RPG Maker XP: Infinite tileset usage (compared to VX Ace’s 5 tileset per map limitation), larger event trigger space handling (Area vs single block which VX Ace uses), better handling of sprite/tile layering and support for larger sprites (VX Ace is locked to chibi-style sizes based on default world scale).
Both games offer different battle styles as well I believe, though VX Ace’s modibility allows you to significantly change engine components and add graphical flourishes such as “real time” lighting. I already have VX Ace but I have to admit grabbing the $6 tier is tempting if only to really see how the other half lives.

Yeah, I’d noticed a different soundtrack for the Japanese track and the dub. Similar songs but with extra trills and flourishes here and there at different points. The OVA1 OP was the one I most obviously noticed. The dub seemed to be compressed a little as well or at least a few decibels louder. I’d actually seen a youtube up with the JP OP and someone claimed it was a “remix” that their friend did. Had to laugh.

50 episodes at 5 minutes long each? That’s got me a little worried that the series will be hammering hard on the tourism aspect moreso than anything else. Not a whole lot of breathing room for things to properly develop in such a cramped space even with50 total episodes. And with a city putting backing funds behind it has me a little concerned about the budget for animation. Will they be able to give us a decently drawn and animated bunch of shorts? Or will it be more along the lines of the static animation used in the DVD special short? Very interesting that the series is being put out under an alternate name – Tenchi Muyo Ai/Tenchi Muyo Love. If I were to take a guess I’d say that Kajishima’s using this as a way to get the characters back into the heads of fans and the Japanese TV audiences. Then, should it prove successful for them, he could use that leverage to shop around and get funding for a true OVA4. Though I wonder just how much involvement he has on this and if this is indeed what he talked about in the Comiket doujin last year. August will have to roll around before we’re sure.
In any case, this is a pretty damn exciting bit of news for Tenchi fans!

theWhile not exactlynewseries… Quote:North American anime distributor Viz Media announced after its Anime Central panel on Friday that it licensed the original Sailor Moon magical girl anime franchise. The streaming, digital, and home video licenses include all 200 episodes from the five television series, the three feature films, and the assorted tie-in specials. This will include the first North American release of the final television series, Sailor Moon Sailor Stars.
Viz is offering the franchise without edits in its original uncropped 4:3 aspect ratio, with the original Japanese names, story elements, and relationships.
It is also producing an uncut English dub with a new voice cast.Viz aims to release the franchise digitally with English subtitles starting this summer, followed by the English dub starting in late 2014. It also plans DVD and Blu-ray/DVD combo releases in half-season sets starting this fall.
The first four television anime episodes will stream with English subtitles on Viz Media’s NeonAlley.com service and the Hulu Plus service on Monday. Two more episodes will then debut every Monday (“Moon-day,” as Viz’s representatives deemed it).
Naoko Takeuchi launched the original magical girl team manga series in the shōjo monthly manga magazine Nakayoshi in 1992. It soon spawned anime, a live-action television project, musicals, and other adaptations, and it also sparked a worldwide boom. The 20th anniversary project began in 2012, and featured the first musical in eight years at the AiiA Theater Tokyo last September. Kodansha has been republishing the original manga in a complete edition since last November, and Kodansha USA Publishing’s Kodansha Comics imprint has been publishing the manga in North America.
The bolded sure is interesting.

This wasn’t completely unexpected but Microsoft chose a weird time to tip its hand. E3 needs those surprises too you know? Plus they announced it at 6AM EST which is just… one of the strangest times for an announcement like this. Rumors that the Master Chief Collection is also headed to PC via Steam at the same time even though it wasn’t part of the announcement. There’s been a space in the

Strangely enough, I didfinally have one last night – though not of the usual sort. I was put in charge of overseeing and quality controlling blu-ray transfers for the remaining shows that had yet to be produced.
