The 2011 Waterloo Festival of Animated Cinema (WFAC) in Canada revealed on Sunday that Makoto Shinkai’s Children Who Chase Lost Voices from Deep Below (Hoshi o Ou Kodomo) anime film has been licensed by an unspecified North American company. This development led the festival to cancel a screening that it had planned on Sunday.

Mystery Solved! And not too surprising.

According to WHOIS records available online, an entity listed as “S-F Domain” registered the Internet domain childrenwhochasevoices.com. Children Who Chase Lost Voices from Deep Below is the latest anime film by Makoto Shinkai (Place Promised in Our Early Days ). The film premiered in Japan in 2011 and was set to screen at the 2011 Waterloo Festival of Animated Cinema (WFAC) in Canada but was subsequently cancelled after being licensed by a then unidentified North American company. “S-F Domain” also registered thisboycanfightaliens.com, which was listed in Sentai Filmworks’s press release for the anime This Boy Can Fight Aliens.

As far as it goes the only Matsumoto I’ve seen has been Maetel Legend.

Yet another Matsumoto anime I didnt know existed, let alone seen 😳 ? Wow I had no idea this thread would be so educational for me.

    Yeah, I didn’t even mention the out-of-print and non-US-released stuff. ;)

I had no idea that Matsumoto was still making anime!

Yeah, he’s pretty feisty still. More planned from the master.

It’s brand spankin’ new, as in last Saturday new. ;)

For other Matsumoto stuff, I’d recommend Hulu or Crunchyroll in the US:
    Your enjoyment may vary ;)
    GE 999

    Harlock 8-)

    Cosmo Warrior Zero

    Gun Frontier

    Galaxy Railways

And of course Star Blazers, as well.

I’m going to guess it’s not on Netflix, Crackle or some other such thing is it ?

It’s a shame they didn’t bother to dub it either.. :/

Nope, the license reverted back to Japan, either when or probably before Geneon USA shut down.

As for dubbing, the (lack of) sales performance for the OVA series doomed any chance it had, as well as prompting the title change.

Aside from the connection to Tenchi is there anything else that makes Pretty Sammy/Magic Project S worth looking into?

    It’s funny?
