anotherspin-off series or a 4th Movie before we see another OVA. I count AI as the “another” spin-off.

Besides there is no story to tell, all they do is grow up, and that is hilariously boring coming from Tenchi’s past of space travel and galactic gods, and even if there was any conflict that might arise to keep us interested, the suspension of disbelief is gone when one of the aunt’s can literally will that person out of existence.
So the OVA literally has nothing left to do, scratch that, it had plenty of things they COULD have done, but can no longer do because of the current state of the household.
Kajishima got what he wanted in the end, he wanted to end the “goddess arc” as it were and literally erase conflict from the main cast OVA continuity, and he did, and he’ll probably never get another anime contract because of it.
What is a slice of life, Alex?
Do not forget Tenchi is essentially a God at this point. There is no one above him, and everyone is now below him. With that in mind and saying we might never get another Kajishima anime contract, we all might as well call it GG and go play with our not-internet friends.Come on now. Between hearing clamoring of rebooting and wanting the main continuity to end, people seem like they shouldn’t care about Kajishima’s work, but here we are
discussing his newest doujins on the very same board where such opinions take root. You’re essentially saying there should be no more possibility of WoG continuations, no new anime for any new characters he adds, or anything of the like. In the end, it is a conundrum that will never be solved. Perhaps it should be for the best he stops making doujins and letting the Tenchi franchise lay at rest, but for the time being, I like seeing how he would continue the story in any way he sees fit.

I’d go so far as to say it is almost as if no one would want the OVA to actually continue or follow the adventures of Tenchi’s offspring. It’s not prophetic if you mention it AFTER it gets announced.- August 2, 2014 at 8:08 AM

At that, I think AIC is not that insane to fund a Tenchi show without at least a few of the original girls. Ryoko/Ayeka at home, Sasami at school being taught by Tenchi, Mihoshi as a teacher as she appeared in Universe and In Love, Washu as director of the Science club, etc. Or hell, having them as students as well along with our two new characters. I think this may be a really weird way for them to bring the new girls up front before revealing the new girls, as a Tenchi show without at least the core of Ryoko/Ayeka feels like show suicide. And AICreallycan’t afford that.
I’m still clinging on to the hope they bring back the classic characters, even in some way as you suggest. My concern is five minutes per episode isn’t much and leads me to believe it might turn out to be some sort of
thing where the focus is misleading; I think you’d get more mileage out of using the established characters instead of forcing onto us these new, obviously quickly shat out newcomers.Go! Go! Nippon!Dagon123 wrote:
Ai Tenchi Muyo from the beginning was being touted as a “celebration of the franchise”I won’t put it past them to do what Crapcom did with Mega Man’s 25th anniversary by essentially authorizing a Fan game and saying it celebrates the franchise, aka without them putting forth any actual effort. I’ll reserve further judgement when the anime starts to air and I can see what they put forth as a celebration of the series, and hopefully not just a sort of quick cash in on the name and license. I’d like to see a potential spark of interest in a new canon series or OVA lines. I feel the future of the series hinges on this, and so far I’m skeptical as to what this announcement is leading to.

I’m going to take this with the blue stuff in the trunk of my cara graina bullet to my craniuma whole box of Kosher salt. I knew this wasn’t going to be canon, but I didn’t think they’d bring back the director of a non-canon series for this. And I didn’t think they’d borrow heavily from another either. On top of this, no recurring characters have been hinted at aside from Tenchi.character designSo what do I expect?
Not much anymore. I’m sure you’re all excited, but I feel like I was led with a carrot and hit with a stick. I expected to have some familiar faces teaching me about Japan, but now I have super excitable student council sword girl and pain angel cave girl to look forward to. I’m used to being jerked around with this series, but I should know better than to expect something genuine from this.
My Gif folder is not large enough to express my distaste for this news. So I’ll try to summarize my feeling in just one the best I can.

You know what my favorite part about my birthday is? These past few years have been spent driving across the country instead of partying, but at least this year’s was better than the last. Either way, I appreciate the wishes. I hope none of you misbehaved while I was gone.

I never have Tenchi related dreams. I never have dreams in general. I only have nightmares where I die and wake up disappointed it’s not real.- April 15, 2014 at 6:09 PM

I’ve never seen a Miyazaki film in my life. You read that right. Matter of fact my friend is surprised I haven’t seen a single one; he finds most anime fans have seen at least one, but I haven’t.
