Hope the size isn’t too big

So, did you know some edition company, FilmComics, did a manga version of TMiL?

In 2 volumes, it seems to be chunk of the movie put in printed format. Great piece of art if you ask me. Here’s pictures, since I own it, fuck yeeeeaah.

    All in colour.

Also, since I own that too… plagiat Dagon123 industry ©

The freakin’ storyboard of da movie. With typesetted text + some hand written annotation + scenes that didn’t make it to the movie.

    Time to update that.

I think I agree with you, though I started scanlating with all the “niichan, san..”.., I may or may not change everything.

Without honorific names, it’s closer to my french experience of TM!. But if you look at :

    – Your dubs

    – The mangas in english

Everywhere, there are the “Ms Ryoko”, “Lord Tenchi” and so on.

So will it be more natural for english viewer ? I’m not sure.

Crazed and Nil made the choice of going with all the “Miss and Brother” when translating Hexagram.

So.. here I am in vacation.

New sets of scans, lot of time to do translation, and for my own reasons I have japanese humans all over me. So even though I’m not super quick, I’ll try to be accurate. I’ll aim for the end of August. No guarantee though.

Also, what do you like to read, if say, Sasami calls out Tenchi :

    1 – “Tenchi-niichan!”

    2 – “Big brother Tenchi!”

    3 – “Tenchi!”

I have my opinion, but hey, I want to hear yours.

This applies for all san, dono, sama.. and so on.

Not adding any infos, but commeting what you said, Pii. Since you brought up the art style side of the matter.

So Hayashi and Kajishima worked together on this two anime as well.. interesting.

What could be also note is : Since Kajishima is the ultimate character designer, no doubt we can assure that he himself drew the sketches I post earlier. Y’know, while Hayashi or Horiuchi drew dotless Misaki in Hexagram, production arts are definetly from Kajishima’s hand. (Well, most likely, right ?)

Another thing, the design of the anime you stated.

It’s totally unrelated to the topic, but again in Tenchi Souran, there are a few early production art where we clearly see the characters with an awesome 80s look.

    Ah alright then. I figured it was the hasegawa novels just from the art style ^_^;;

Yeah I feel the same way. It’s time for a little : Enhence your Tenchi Muyo! knowledge And also do some selfwiki page just so I don’t forget what I’m about to write

Are responsable for all the illustrations in the TMiL novel : Fumio MATSUMOTO (松本 文男), Hiroyuki HORIUCHI (堀内 博之), and Naoyuki OWADA. (大和田直之)

What is interesting is : Horiuchi worked with Hayashi on the text illustration of Hexagram of Love.

And for the 12 other Hasegawa’s novels, Owada did every drawing from cover to text.

So both Horiuchi and Owada drew for Hasegawa prior to work for Negishi.. Similar artstyle ? Very possible. :D

Fun fact : If you didn’t join the server within the first 24 hours using the instant invite, you can’t use the desktop app, nor any other mobile application.

So you can’t create account yet, for the server of course.

JG witness my presence on the server yesterday, but today I fooled around with the soft and disconnected myself of it (ya stoopid).

Now I can’t join it unless I use a browser. (And so my account is useless for now).

Aaand, of course, if you clic and the connect button below, chrome asks you if you want to lauch an external app, say yes, but then you still need an instant invite to join. Too bad.

EDIT : Problem solved, don’t know how nor why

I have a few questions about your list.

Are you planning on reviewing The All New manga the same way you did for No Need ?

Reviewing the TTN ? Huh? I mean.. You do what you want, but reviewing a summary seems a bit.. empty. What can you do but witness the story ?

It’s true that there are actual translations in the summary, but is that enough? I guess you decide.

I had seen somewhere there is a genuine Tenchi Muyo in Love Light Novel, might have a tidbit of information on why Kain attacked Achika, though the novel might just be another retelling of the movie so not so good of a source.

The movie exists in a lot of version. If Negishi wrote it prior to producing the movie, then more infos might be available. But we surely don’t know.

Hum, well for my side you’ve kinda toss all my point in the trash, so not so much haha wth2

If Kagato’s sword works on the same principles as Tenchiken, then the blade would likely be an extension of Kagato’s power, not Kain’s body.

Yeah, Kain’s body was just epic idea, but to stick to the comparison with the Tenchiken, we could argu that since the Tenchiken turns Jurai’s power into a blade, Kagato’s sword turns Kain’s power into a blade. Whatever said power is. Kain is basically the counteractor of Jurai.

Second, Kain buzzes Yagami on his way to Earth, and Kiyone receives an incomplete message about Kain’s escape. She is dwelling on it in 1996 when Ryoko fetches both her and Mihoshi to travel to 1970. Unlike the previous reference, I believe this one definitively shows Kain escape the GP in 1996, not 1970 or any historical point nearby.

OK I admit I should watch this film again blush1 . Anyhow, at this point we can’t really explain why Achika and not Yosho, and even why not Tenchi or Aeka, Sasami. I gotta say that if it were an order from a third party, sense would come up.

    Senpai noticed me

Here you are, both feet in the second OVA, standing proud!

OVA2 is really loved in the fandom, so much that it is “always” put together with OVA1 when we see “I love the OVAs”. Yet, both are really different, we know it, and your review leaves no doubts.

I’m eager to see how your grading will adapt to all the twists, plots, and background stories to come.

But, one thing, I’m not the head of the hasegawa translation project, Nil is. Erase this status you shall. I’m the head of another thing.

What I like about this episode (and OVA2 at large) is that we get a first look at Kajishima’s extended universe. While there are some troubles with OVA1, Kajishima, Hasegawa and canoncity, there is nothing but explicit (more or less) link between OVA2 and the novels. The TTN, if not the prequel of OVA1, are the prequel of OVA2. (Though there are some big contradiction too, I’m sure you’ll catch a few).

I’m also kinda disturbed by all this incest-family-tree, but I’m interest by the “everything is linked” feeling. (I feel like I already said that). What I like : Kaji throw out these flashbacks in 1994, and 4 years later or so, the novel explains it. I like it, and it doesn’t feel dropped out of nowhere like most stuff in OVA3.
