I’ve never heard of this show before, hows the art?

To make a long story short, it’s the reason we in the west even know what anime is! It was a monumentally important show from the 70’s that started the international anime craze. This isn’t the proper thread to discuss it though, so stop on by the Yamato/Star Blazers thread to learn all about it! As for the art, well you tell me!:

Also, @bkev: I know that someone has all of the third season up in Japanese easily findable on Youtube, but as for the first two seasons I’ve only ever found random episodes in Japanese, never in one complete season long playlist unfortunately. I know that they exist somewhere on the interwebs though, so if you wanted to don your peg-leg and eyepatch you could probably find them 😎 As for the English dub, I understand why you would mistrust the accuracy of the dub, but I can say pretty confidently that it stays remarkable faithful to the original, given the times. I actually quite like the English dub, but that’s just my own personal preference.

Haven’t seen Yamato myself yet, but I’m a big Matusmoto fan so it’s on my list for sure.

Oh I think we’ll get along just fine! :D I’m the resident Yamato geek fanatic, so feel free to stop on by the Yamato/Star Blazers thread (started by yours truly! :Cheeks: ) for conversation about all things Yamato and Matsumoto, including my guide on how best to watch Yamato (WITH LINKS TO VIDS!!!)!

Michael Arndt, screenplay writer of “Little Miss Sunshine” and “Toy Story 3” will write the screenplay for episode VII. He’s a lifelong Star Wars fanatic and he’s obviously got talent. Check one in Disney’s column, but they still have many more hurdles to cross before I’m convinced.

Oh and for the record,I really thought the election was lost at the VP debate.Ryan certainly lost my

vote and I ended up voting for Goode and Clymer of the Constitution Party.

Absolutely nothing personal against you ML, but this is a HUGE pet peeve of mine. In my mind, you not only wasted your vote, but by doing so you in effect SUPPORTED the very candidate you least supported. This isn’t rocket science, and it certainly applies equally to both sides because if people hadn’t voted for Ross Perot in 92 Bill Clinton would have lost, and if people hadn’t voted for Ralph Nader in 2000 George Bush would have lost. The American system does NOT, EVER, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES allow for three parties to exist without one of them automatically winning by default. So by voting for Goode rather than Romney, you might as well have voted for Obama because the end result is the same.

Again, I mean absolutely nothing personal against you ML, and this is all just my opinion.

Great catch MitsukiLover! This is just further proof of my argument that StarBlazers/Yamato is probably the largest “underground” anime fandom in the west. It was a common experience among an entire generation, and even though most of that generation never made it any further into anime than this show, it is still the foundation for almost EVERYTHING anime fandom related in the west. Don’t take my word for it either, THIS ARTICLE excellently details how the first organized anime clubs, and later anime conventions, were StarBlazers/Yamato based!

THIS VIDEO is where I’m getting my info. They don’t give a specific year or con name, but I would assume that if you looked up a list of cons that took place in Anaheim, CA in the mid 90’s that you might be able to find it.

Since a lot of questions seem to be aimed at Petrea Burchard,I think one question might be if she

enjoys Ryoko’s notoriety and if she has done any other characters that come close to Ryoko in popularity and notoriety.

I’m fairly certain the Ryoko was her ONLY real role in animation, or even film and TV as well. I know that she’s done some voices in commercials and background characters in tv shows, but that’s about it as far as I know.
