This segment seems to be just a peek into what’s happening around Elliot. It confirms Washu’s aid to the young man, though not necessarily her actual motives. I’m still wondering why Ayeka and Mihoshi were involved here at all. They walked on stage, dropped a few characteristic lines, and then wandered off. They didn’t really have any effect on the scene and seem unnecessary. Their purpose of letting the reader know Washu was away could have been easily served by Washu musing to herself, or by a grumbling stomach.

This segment answered most of my questions laid from “Prelude” and “Within His Mind”. However, I too am curious about the angel and demon figures. In this chapter, the dialogue worked better than in the previous chapter as there actually had some action occurring, namely his near-awakening. Aesthetically, it’s reminiscent of Megatron’s rise to consciousness in “Sick Mind” from
Transformers Prime. - June 15, 2012 at 8:29 PM

Reading the prelude, I was interested to know the reason for Washu’s study of this particular person. Likely, I’ll read on to find what is meant by her words regarding him, as well as the cause of his apparent wounds. This piece reminded me of my own opening to Tenchi vs. MiB, so far as tone and intentionally vague description. In that, I’m pleased with it. ^^v However, I’m curious about the remark regarding the sanctity of human life. Washu herself has created and manipulated the structure of living beings before. Doesn’t this contradict some of what is said?
The author’s note is distracting to me. Much of it seems an allusion to
The Last Action Heroand similar stories of the mingling between “reality” and “fiction”. Perhaps this might have been better integrated into the piece by either Washu’s thoughts or in later chapters from the boy’s point of view. - June 3, 2012 at 7:11 PM

What are his motives? What kind of pills is he
reallygiving to Kiyone? EVIL pills to turn her…EVIL???!!! 😯 could go a number of ways with that.Eh, I also threw together Itsugi’s personalit yon the fly. I gave little thought to him. Also the name took me 5 seconds to think of haha. RANDOM!
The pills are really painkillers. As for his motives, I covered in the spoiler I said :p
Of all things, I saw Itsugi as a cross between the merchant in
Resident Evil 4and Death in Masque of the Red Death(Vincent Price version). I could see him played as an interested third party, neutral but willing to arm or aid either side, just to see how it all turns out. > - April 27, 2012 at 1:42 AM
