^ and the removal of blood when Ryoko’s in Ryo-Ohki at the end and she “dies”. It’s the blood that tells us what the hell’s going on!

^ If memory serves, it was a spin-off of the Grim & Evil show. Both halves got their own show. Evil Kon Karne and the Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy.

Well…look at the unedited version of DBZ. That’s not very kid friendly either. There’s even more blood and violence, swearing, and sex jokes everywhere. I think they just knew that anime was marketable and wanted to find a way to air it.

^ Ah! I remember Sheep in the Big City! As I recall, it was a bit odd (albeit, not nearly as bizarre as CN’s current lineup) compared to the rest of the shows at that time. I never did care much for Kon Karne or Kids Next Door.

That she wasn’t, but she did at least have a few film & stage credits prior to Tenchi.

^ I also heard through the grapevine somewhere that the man who actually had it cancelled was fired at some point over an unrelated matter, but It’s been a while and the details are fuzzy. I doubt that’s true, but it’d be interesting if it were.
