Nope, and I think I’m okay with this.
wth2 – Ep. 28 –
Momo must truly be special, as she has thus far been spared the “Vengeful Ryoko” treatment (maybe this is the new, more passive “scorned by Ryoko” treatment?). Even though Tenchi didn’t do anything wrong, I can’t help but cheer my girl on for finally holding
himaccountable in some way and having some respect for herself (& don’t worry guys, Tenchi’s a trooper, he can handle it). Interesting, as normally Ryoko would have gone into “attack-mode” on any potential rival within arm’s-length of Tenchi…then again, she was never outright aggressive towards Sasami…maybe she goes easier on the younger ones? Then again, she kinda almost killed Mayuka…maybe that was because she’s Tenchi’s daughter (and annoying)?
It seems with this series they have actively made decisions to have the characters slightly different to reflect the passage of time, yet one can plainly see it’s not a case of the director or writers misappropriating traits or misunderstanding who these characters are, as feudal-era
Universe-esque Ryoko plainly demonstrates: Ryoko in those episodes is as “Ryoko” as I’ve ever seen her in any incarnation. P. S. Someone gets a cookie for calling it: Touri had a moment in the sun (even though it was after dark).
P. P. S. Look at that, Greg! They heard your pleas for more cartoonish, SD Tenchi faces and delivered.

aquateencarl1 Anyways, on to the real reason I ventured into this thread.
I put up with it for awhile, but Nil and Tachi-nii’s “jokes” in chat last night/this morning was the last straw for me, and I feel the need to put my foot down. You guys are having too much fun tormenting a fellow forum-goer than you should. And I want it to stop, especially in chat. I admit, it was kinda fun coming up with silly, overblown reactions to the game before, but I quickly grew tired of that.
Now, anytime I hear about or see this game anywhere it just makes me angry. Very, very angry. Like I want to punch a hole through the faces of all those stupid, effing developers who are messed up in the head enough to create such a stupid, effing game. It’s a really good thing I don’t drink… or live in the vicinity of anyone who worked on the game.
And so, I would like to request that any and all mention of this game series be confined to this thread, at least while I’m around. Please and thank you.
It is unfortunate that what was intended as nothing more than playful ribbing between forum-mates is being seen as “torment”. I cannot stand Yandere things myself, but I’ve enjoyed the jokes from Crazed, SnowQueen and others about my heavy dislike for the tasteless character trait. Had you mentioned to me before the level of frustration it was causing you, I certainly wouldn’t have continued pinning it on you. And, as such, I can respect your wishes to not be associated with it further. I’ve changed the thread title to reflect this.
However, I will say that I am not okay with completely banning all discussion of the game outside of a single thread here. There have been plenty of things brought up that bother me beyond rationalization, but I recognize that is my issue to deal with. We can’t tell when you are and aren’t going to be around, nor can we control the flow of chat. So if we limited it to only talking about it when you aren’t around, we also couldn’t control it if chat lingers on a message about it and you just so happen to come online then. We have taken steps to dissuade discussion of specific topics because they break rules, this one does not. I will defer if other staff members feel it should be treated as you request.
That said, I don’t see the topic coming up in discussion too often anyways. We only talked about the first game for a little while, and its relevancy fell off rather sharply. Bearing in mind that we won’t continue using it against you in any context, I feel as though it will naturally disappear and you shouldn’t have much to worry about. It was never intended to be torture for you, you’re a good person Wispy. None of us want to see you genuinely suffering over something as silly as this.
This sounds settled to me. If anyone involved feels it’snotresolved, instead of continuing this particular discussion in a thread, please take the appropriate step of sending a personal message to either myself or Kiyami and we’ll go from there. Otherwise, moving on. Topical discussion on a subject’s relevant thread may continue. - November 11, 2014 at 1:28 AM

Yeah Beni and the others are great, but Yuki and Rui have grown on me more than any other of the new girls.

GaianKnight wrote:He’s not teaching much so far, in this series.
Tenchismile That’s actually a funny point. Tenchi’s a student teacher, so will we ever see him teach?
I believe Episode 23 is indeed foreshadowing major events, but perhaps more dire ones than immediately apparent. This episode created a stark change in how I view Ukan, though I’m not entirely sure why. I think the weather at the announcement–too perfectly suited for the mood–hints that Miss Kurihara is in control of more than just the day-to-day affairs of the school.
Warning: fan-based theorization ahead!I think Ukan may in fact be not only the primary antagonist of the series, but also the person Washu has been alluding to this entire time: the common factor between the overlapping dimensions. It would make sense, therefore, for Tenchi to be close to her (teacher’s assistant) for the purposes of his mission.
But wait! I’m not done yet!Connecting back to the school, there’s also the possibility that it may be a projection perpetuated by Ukan herself. Notice the overhead longshot of the school in this episode: the terrain looks very similar to the wooded scenery of the feudal-era episodes’ setting; then of course there’s the legend alluded to in both timelines, as pointed out by pii.
What’s more, this mysterious warping of reality (space and time), or perhaps
realities, would also serve to explain how or why Hachiko, Hana, Touri, Momo, Beni and even Tenchi end up at the school: not only does it serve as the epicenter of the apparent ‘dimensional crisis’ premise and the catalyst for the plot to follow, but perhaps also for whatever plans Ukan has been harboring. Not only is
Aistill entertaining with its high-school high jinks (Tenchi is a prize? Well, of course he is!) but now I’m very intrigued with the overarching plot. - November 4, 2014 at 3:09 AM

Oh, and should I treat Ai TM as an official OVA continuity? Or just a standalone. I noticed the AIC logo (first time in forever for that,) in the Ai credits, so I was wondering there.
I might need a refresher, but as far as
TenchiOVA vs entire franchise goes, I don’t see why AIC producing would act as a condition on whether it was OVA continuity or not (they’ve been involved with most if not all movies and spin-offs). Regardless, just from viewing experience alone I’d definitely put
Aiin its own sandbox. It’s very comedic (akin to Tenchi in Tokyo) and several scenes and motifs pay homage to Universe. Kajishima is also not directly involved, and anything related to Ryo-Ohkicirca (approx.) post 1994 has always been his vision. Good question, though!
