The loop was closed at the end of OVA 1 episode 7.

Everything in OVA 2 and AW happened before the ending scene in episode 7. :ugeek: (Notice Ifurita proper isn’t in either series.) ;)

Still doesn’t explain events post-‘Alternative World’ into episode 1/7 of OAV 1.

I probably shouldn’t jump in here, as I’ve only seen OVA 1 as of this post, but I’ll risk it. If I’m understanding the question correctly, and the fact that apparently OVA 2 events actually take place before events of OVA 1, isn’t a causality loop, by definition, “closed”?

Meaning there’s not a “beginning” or “end” in a strict linear sense, but rather, due to each event (Makoto being sent to El-Hazard, and Ifurita in turn waiting thousands of years to meet Makoto) being a catalyst for the other, and in turn itself, time in this context is cyclical?

I don’t know, i saw it as being neverending, thus “closed” as EH uses a predestination approach to time and history. I also kind of thoughtMakoto had apparently mastered time and/or dimensional travel by the ending of OVA1, but I could be way off; I need to keep watching to get a fuller picture.

it has many connections to Tenchi

Sure there’s the director, the animation studio, the in-joke crossovers in Pretty Sammy, Mr. Fujisawa as Tenchi’s homeroom teacher (TiT) and of coursehttp://www.el-hazardonline.net/El-Hazard/wiki/images/9/9c/Screenshot_3_195.jpg" />

    … but it stands alone.

Ah, I think I see what you’re getting at: yes, I should have worded that more specifically, as it is entirely stand alone in relation to Tenchi (unlike Kaji’s multiverse approach) but, as you are well aware, in our world the connections are indeed many.

(Debatable to some? Really? Not sure why, because as you just listed, a lot of people who worked on Tenchi OVA1 worked on EH OVA.)

That said, I think I like the first OVA more than most Tenchi.

You know, I’ve heard others on this very forum say the same thing, which was one of the reasons I just had to check it out at that point. Even though Tenchi’s my No. 1 I can’t in any way shoot that down, because it is really, really good.

Checked out your latest two (I was behind a bit), nice work, one for Ayeka, one for Ryoko. May I ask what was your vision for each one? Or maybe just starting with Ayeka’s (since I’m unfamiliar with the song), what was the central theme of that amv, and how do you see it pertaining to the princess? (Just general discussion, as you know I’m a bit of an amv-er myself.)

First of all thank you to Dagon123 for uploading these wonderful scans :)

Sharing info and content with fellow fans, that’s what fan communities ought to do, right? 8-)

I too have been wondering how, in animated format, Kajishima would show the kids’ progression, being gradual or skipping ahead, but I have to admit, a small part of me isn’t getting too attached to any idea mainly because his naming it “If” means basically none of this could end up being the actual way it goes (though Tenchi “getting them all” I see as a given at this point).

So I found Ed, Edd, and Eddy in Japanese, and man what a great job they did xD

Somehow it’s comforting to me that Rolf’s “Shlurr!” is linguistically universal. XD

If I found out the GP was real–like, the GP, as if Tenchi Muyo were coming to life before my eyes–I think I’d go nuts. I’d abandon work or any sort of responsibilities, be twelve years old again, screaming “ALL BETS ARE OFF!” demanding where Ryoko “The Devil Caller” Hakubi was, and not stopping until I found her.

    Er… is that… Hotsuma? o_0

Edit: No, no, Hotsuma is blond. DANGIT! Who IS that? Grr…

Somewhat sadly, I cannot think of a Tenchi-verse equivalent for Siegfriend. The man is entirely his own.
